JG's Emerson tabbed D-II Player of the Year

Colt Emerson shined in all facets of the game for John Glenn.

The potential first-round selection in the upcoming Major League Baseball draft was recognized throughout the state, as the Muskie senior was tabbed the Division II Player of the Year by the Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association earlier this month.

Emerson hit .446 with 39 runs scored, 33 hits, 25 RBIs, 12 doubles, eight home runs and three triples. He also posted a .586 on-base percentage, slugged 1.104 and had a .959 fielding percentage at shortstop.

He was joined on the Division II first team by Sheridan junior catcher Caden Sheridan. He had a .582 average with 57 hits, 50 runs scored, 39 RBIs, 11 doubles, five homers and three triples. He also had a .630 on-base, .889 slugging and .972 fielding percentage.

Morgan senior third baseman Wade Pauley earned second-team accolades. He finished with a .475 average, 29 hits, 28 runs scored, 16 RBIs, nine doubles and a pair of homers. He also posted a .622 on-base, .754 slugging and .948 fielding percentage.

In Division III, Coshocton senior Hudson Wesney made second team as a utility player. His contributions came from the mound and the plate, as he went 7-1 with a 1.00 ERA with 82 strikeouts and 15 walks in 48 2/3 innings. Wesney also batted .426 with a .495 on-base and .733 slugging, 32 hits, 10 doubles, three triples, three homers. 26 runs scored, 25 RBIs and 13 stolen bases.
