Jets mock Broncos with perfect tweet after beating Sean Payton

Denver Broncos coach Sean Payton has to eat some crow after losing to the New York Jets on Sunday, and the Jets are happy to pile on.

Months before losing to the Jets 31-21 and dropping to 1-4, Payton blasted New York offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, who served as Denver’s head coach last season.

“It might have been one of the worst coaching jobs in the history of the NFL,” Payton said of Hackett’s coaching in an interview with USA TODAY‘s Jarrett Bell in July. “That’s how bad it was.”

Hackett ended up getting the last laugh as he returned to Denver on Sunday the Jets scored a season-high 31 points in an impressive victory.

After the game, New York’s social media team poked fun at Payton by posting a Photoshopped image Kevin James, who portrayed Payton in the movie Home Team last year.

Jets injured quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who said in July that Payton should “keep my coaches’ names out of his mouth,” also posted on Twitter/X.

The Jets won on and off the field this week. Things aren’t about to get any easier for Payton and the Broncos as a road trip to face the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday Night Football is on deck next.
