Jets 2024 Mock Draft Roundup: Could versatile tight end fall to No. 10?

The Jets have plenty of work to do if they want to snap their long playoff drought in 2024.

Aaron Rodgers' arrival last offseason did not go as planned and now GM Joe Douglas and the rest of the organization have to figure out how to protect their 40-year-old quarterback and provide him with as many offensive weapons as possible.

Will they be able to do that? The first step will be at this year's NFL Draft where Gang Green has the No. 10 overall pick.

Here's what the experts have to say when it comes to the Jets and who they should select at No. 10....

TE Brock Bowers (Georgia)

Bowers is one of the most talented tweeners to come out in a while. As an in-line blocker, it's not a question of effort or strength as much as technique. Perhaps he'll refine it on an NFL roster where he's not the No. 1 offensive weapon. Even if he doesn't, he's a great weapon in the passing game, as he's a mismatch for most defenders. Put a corner on him, and he can outmuscle them for the ball. Put a linebacker on him, and good luck keeping up with him on the shallow cross.

The Jets could also think about offensive line help given that was a major issue for their non-Rodgers quarterbacks. Then again, Rodgers will like that Bowers is a mismatch-creating weapon who would play perfectly off Garrett Wilson downfield and Breece Hall out of the backfield.

T Olu Fashanu (Penn State)

A favorite comparison out there for Fashanu is former Jets Pro Bowler D'Brickashaw Ferguson. What Fashanu lacks in run game impact, he makes up for as a ready-made pass protector. They must protect Rodgers at all costs.

TE Brock Bowers (Georgia)

The Jets need a big year in 2024, and the offseason plays a huge role in ensuring success. One area they need to address is the weapons for Rodgers because only having Garrett Wilson won’t be enough. Bowers gives New York a versatile weapon who can line up all over the field and make plays. Georgia found creative ways to utilize him in their offense, so you can bet Rodgers and the Jets’ offense will do the same.

T Joe Alt (Notre Dame)

There's a touch of projection with Alt -- he needs to get stronger. Technically, he's all set. Jets have to address the offensive front with Rodgers set to return in 2024.

T Olu Fashanu (Penn State)

In August, it felt like a pipe dream for the Jets to land Fashanu. Perhaps the Penn State left tackle is falling victim to prospect fatigue. He gave teams and media scouts an extra year to evaluate him after opting to return for his senior year. There are some times he struggles with stronger defenders, but he is still the best pass blocker in this class. Anyone who watched the first five snaps of the Jets season, let alone all 17 games, will tell you New York desperately needs a pass protector on the left side.
