Jeff Fisher is on Twitter, and he's clapping back at 7-9 jokes
It’s been over two years since Jeff Fisher was fired as head coach of the Los Angeles Rams.
He has kept a low profile since, spending time on his farm in Tennessee when he’s not traveling and hunting and fishing.
And now he has discovered Twitter. And GIFs.
Clapping back at 7-9 jokes
Fisher was a head coach for 22 years between his stint with the Rams and long tenure with the Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans, but his teams made the playoffs only six times.
The Rams in particular struggled to get to .500, going 7-8-1 in his first season (2012), then 7-9, 6-10, and 7-9 in his subsequent full seasons.
That has inevitably led to Fisher’s name and 7-9 being frequently paired in jokes. On Thursday, he had time for those jokes, clapping back at many who made them. His clapback game was pretty strong too, which makes us wonder if it was Fisher himself or his wife or one of his kids.
Here’s a sampling:
Fisher picked on “fz” -
knew you wouldn't go to the XFL. their schedule wouldn't allow you to go 7-9.

So you're a smart man, with just some jokes like this? Thanks for the follow man. pic.twitter.com/uW7KRUmYlu

And “B. Miller” -
He should get somewhere between seven and nine new sources.

And was appreciative of “Steve Rebeiro” -
Live look at @CoachJeffFisher every time he sees a tweet with a 7-9 joke pic.twitter.com/NUXLL2DgCD

And when “House BlueStar” came at Fisher’s profile picture, he had a response for that too -
Your profile pic looks 7-9 years old. https://t.co/e1FgTDB6eE

Pretty good, right?
Reporter got it all started
In case you’re wondering what got Fisher going, it looks like it began after a reporter tweeted that Fisher was “in line” to become coach of the Houston XFL team.
@JasonLaCanfora false news that I am headed to XFL Houston. Maybe get better sources? 🤣 Have a great Thursday. pic.twitter.com/X3cCYJOGPu

Fisher called it “false news,” and started responding to the torrent of 7-9 themed tweets that followed.
Nicely done, Jeff. We welcome seven to nine more weeks of your GIFs and comebacks.
