A JCPenney holiday ad is receiving a gush of attention a full month after the traditional season of giving. The clothing store partnered with Jacqui Saldana of Baby Boy Bakery, a lifestyle blog, and set out to “spread the holiday cheer” by surprising random shoppers with the gift of giving.

Right off the bat who should appear but Adrian Beltre and his family.

Those involved in the ad apparently aren’t baseball fans as no one catches on that they’re speaking with Texas Rangers royalty. A photo of the family is even still on YouTube. As of Thursday morning, only three people commented on Beltre’s appearance. It was a Twitter user who alerted people to the ad.

It’s clear why they kept the four: Beltre shows the true spirit of the season. The recently retired third baseman and future Hall of Famer shared what it means to see his kids, including Canila and Adrian Jr., giving gifts during the holiday season. When Saldana and the crew offered to pay for whatever item they came to the store for, the family still didn’t divulge their identity.

“Can we actually get the gift and donate it to someone?” Beltre, 39, asked.

The ensuing clips show the family shopping, ultimately picking out toys and a pots and pans set. Sandra Beltre shared that their oldest daughter, Cassandra, goes to homeless shelters and prepares meals during the holiday season.

It’s a nice nod to the Beltre family’s enormous hearts wrapped in a JCPenney ad.
