JC Jaguars come on strong in final half to surpass DC-Mountain View

Nov. 19—DALLAS — Jacksonville College extended its win streak to three games Saturday by taking down Dallas College-Mountain View, 97-84, in a game that was played in Dallas.

The Jaguars (3-3) gave a strong effort in the final half by outscoring the Lions, 59-46. The tilt was tied at 38 after the first 20:00 of play.

Carthage-sophomore Anthony Riggans netted a team-high 23 points and just missed a double-double by coming down with nine boards.

Adding 19 points, five rebounds and four assists was Jared Duplechain, with Donovan Holcombe swishing the twine for 13 points. He also contributed three rebounds and five assists.

FredTravious Benjamin chipped in 10 points for the Jags.

JC showed much improvement in its effort from the charity line. The Jags shot 81.3% (13-of-16) from the stripe.

At 6 p.m. Tuesday, the Jags will visit Dallas College-Brookhaven in the team's final game before opening Region XIV play on Nov. 30 against Navarro College. That game will take place in Jacksonville.
