James Cook: 3 things to know about Buffalo Bills second-round pick in NFL Draft

The Buffalo Bills selected Georgia running back James Cook with the No. 63 overall pick in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Buffalo originally had pick No. 57 but traded down twice. The Bills traded it to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for Nos. 60 and 180. Then they flipped the No. 60 selection to the Cincinnati Bengals for Nos. 63 and 209.

Cook is the third running back off the board. Here are three things to know about Cook:

Cooking with gas

Cook had an immediate impact as a freshman with the Bulldogs and improved every year. As a senior, Cook rushed for 728 yards on 113 carries (6.4 average) and seven touchdowns and had 27 receptions for 284 yards and four touchdowns, helping Georgia capture the national championship. He averaged at least six yards per carry in each of his four collegiate seasons.

The NFL's next set of brothers

Cook is the younger brother of Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook. The brothers could play against each other this year as the Bills host the Vikings in 2022. James Cook is about 10 pounds lighter and doesn't have the same physicality as his older brother. He's a quick, one-cut slashing runner and is adept at catching the ball out of the backfield.

His high school has a history of NFL running back

Miami Central High School has an impressive running back history. In addition to the Cook brothers, the school has produced Willis McGahee, Najeh Davenport, Travaris Cadet and Devonta Freeman.
