Jake Paul to face Mike Tyson in blockbuster boxing matchup in Texas. Here's what we know

Jake Paul will continue to attempt to legitimize his boxing career with a blockbuster matchup vs. former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson.

It was announced on Thursday that the fight will occur on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington and will be streamed on Netflix.

Tyson (50-6, 44 knockouts) retired from boxing in 2005 after losing to Kevin McBride. Since then, he has been involved in various forms of media. His last fight was an exhibition against Roy Jones Jr. in 2020 which ended in a draw after eight rounds.

He's also been hosting a podcast and occasionally acting, most prominently in the popular comedy "The Hangover."

Jake Paul's boxing record

Paul (9-1, six knockouts) is a social media star who began his career facing fellow Youtubers and former MMA fighters. He lost a split decision to Tommy Fury last February, won against MMA fighter Nate Diaz in August and most recently dispatched Andre August and Ryan Bourland with one-round knockouts.

With Netflix having over 260 million subscribers, the fight could be one of the biggest of the 21st century.

Will it be an exhibition like Logan Paul vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr.?

It's currently unknown whether or not this will be a match that goes on the record of the fighters. Tyson may be in stellar form for someone approaching their 58th birthday, but Paul still has 30 years on him at 27-years-old.

There's a chance that the match turns out to be similar to Jake's brother Logan Paul's match against Floyd Mayweather in 2021. In that card the two, separated by nearly 30 pounds of weight, avoided throwing punches that could inflict serious damage.

Regardless, one thing's for certain: there will be plenty of eyes watching.
