Weather: 88 degrees and sunny to start; 83 degrees at the finish.

Duration: Two hours, 10 minutes, full pads.

Injuries: TE Dan Arnold limped off the field after one play; DT Raquan Williams appeared to hurt his shoulder on another play. WR Christian Kirk (ankle) returned to practice after missing last week’s preseason game with a slight ankle injury.

The Zay Factor: Trevor Lawrence's connection with free agent Zay Jones getting stronger

The Jaguars switched locations and weather conditions for one breezy, balmy night of training camp Monday after 10 morning practices at Episcopal's Knight Campus.

Coach Doug Pederson said the move was mainly to give more Jaguars employees and their families a chance to see the team practice since there is limited parking and seating space at the Knight Campus.

But it was far from a picnic in the park for the players.

The Jags went at each other for more than two hours in a physical session that included several "live" periods in which ball carriers (except for quarterbacks) could be taken to the ground.

The defense seemed to respond to criticism of a lackluster final three quarters in last week's preseason game loss to Cleveland by roughing up the offense for most of the night

Tempers also flared several times, most notably when cornerback Chris Claybrooks got into it with two teammates (trading blows with wide receiver Lauquon Treadwell) and wide receiver Marvin Hall head-butted — somewhat gently — cornerback Buster Brown.

Treadwell also jawed with defensive tackle Roy Robertson Harris and backup quarterback C.J. Beathard had to walk Treadwell back to the offensive sideline.

Offense notes

• First and foremost, quarterback Trevor Lawrence had another sharp practice, completing 16 of 20 passes in 11-on-11 periods and 5 of 6 during a 7-on-7. He hit a variety of throws and would have had better numbers had not tight end Evan Engram dropped two passes.

• Running backs Travis Etienne and Snoop Conner had some shifty runs and Ryquell Armstead got good yardage on a cut-back. He also picked up a blitz that enabled Beathard to complete a pass to Arnold.

• Running back James Robinson got his first snaps of the preseason in team periods, during the 7-on-7. He did not catch a pass.

• The offense had several false starts, a penalty it had avoided early in training camp. A pass completion to Christian Kirk was also nullified because Kirk didn't "cover up" — he was on the line of scrimmage on the same side and outside of a tight end.

• Wide receiver Jeff Cotton made a good juke on cornerback Tre Herndon and left him grasping at air on the sideline.

• The final period of the night was the most physical, especially the second offense vs. the second defense. But it ended on a TD pass from Beathard to Hall, beating cornerback Xavier Crawford.

Defense notes

• Defensive tackle Jay Tufele had his best practice of camp, pressuring Beathard once and making several hard tackles.

• The defense, burned on screen passes and other routes to running backs in the first two games, had a better night against those plays. End Arden Key, linebackers Chad Muma and Tyrell Adams and Tufele made stops on screens for minimal yardage.

• The aforementioned final period included some good hits by safeties Andrew Wingard and Daniel Thomas, linebacker Shaq Quarterman and Tufele.

• Claybrooks intercepted Beathard with a diving effort on a deep ball to Hall.

• Wingard had an interception of Beathard in a 7-on-7.

Special teams notes

• Punter Logan Cooke had an outstanding practice, especially moving the ball from sideline-to-sideline into the corners.

Jamal Agnew got his first return action in a live period and Laviska Shenault also returned to practice and returned punts after missing most of last week.
