Jaguars' TE Evan Engram, OLB Josh Allen headline Jacksonville's Pro Bowl Games selections

Though the Jacksonville Jaguars had a disappointing end to their season, three of their stars will be honored this weekend as a part of the NFL's 2024 Pro Bowl Games at Camping World Stadium in Orlando.

Outside linebacker Josh Allen and long snapper Ross Matiscik were both selected to represent the Jaguars and the AFC after standout seasons, and tight end Evan Engram was announced this week as a replacement for Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, who will be playing in the Super Bowl.

Allen had the best season of his career, becoming the franchise record-holder for single-season sacks with 17.5 and was selected to the Pro Football Writers Associations' All-AFC team in addition to the Pro Bowl selection.

It's his second time going to the games, but his first being a selection, as he was an alternate in 2020.

An argument could've been made for Engram to make the games as an outright starter. He recorded career numbers with 114 catches for 963 yards and scored four touchdowns for Jacksonville.

His 114 catches stands as the second-most receptions by a Jacksonville players since the franchise's start and he became the 8th tight end in NFL history to record a 100+ catch season.

When Jacksonville was hit by the injury bug, Engram stepped up to become the safety blanket for Trevor Lawrence, seeing a career-high 143 targets this season.

Matiscik is coming off a strong campaign in Jacksonville, recording eight special teams tackles while forcing and recovering a fumble against the Tennessee Titans.

He was a consistent player in punt coverage, earning a NFLPA first-team selection and an Associated Press first-team All-Pro nod for his efforts this season as well.

What are the Pro Bowl Games?

The revamped version of the league's all-star game will feature some of the top players around the league competing in three flag football games and a skills competition.

The flag football games and skills competition are then tallied to determine whether the AFC or NFC wins the games.

Last year, Jaguars' quarterback Trevor Lawrence led his team to a win in their flag game, before the AFC ultimately lost the overall games.
