The Jacksonville Jaguars drafted Mississippi cornerback Deantre Prince with the 153rd pick of the fifth round in the 2024 NFL draft on Saturday. Smith, a 6-foot prospect who spent five years with the Rebels, was the seventh cornerback off the board in the fifth round and the 23rd corner overall selected in the draft to that point.
He's the second cornerback to be drafted by the Jaguars, after Jarrian Jones of FSU in the third round.

Deantre Prince scouting report
Prince spent the majority of his time at Ole Miss playing at outside corner, with little experience in the slot. He was the team's field cornerback, which meant he covered the wide side. He got high marks for speed and ball skills.
Prince is a versatile athlete and at Charleston (Miss.) High School, he played quarterback, running back, wide receiver, cornerback, safety and returned kicks. He had four kick returns for scores in high school.

Prince had an unusual journey, playing at Ole Miss as a freshman, leaving for one season to play at NW Mississippi Junior College, then returning to Ole Miss, where he started the team's last 36 games, and had 43 starts in all. As a senior he had one interception, five pass break-ups and five tackles for losses.
He had six interceptions, 27 pass break-ups and two forced fumbles for his career.
