The NFL handed down it’s suspension on Thursday to Jacksonville Jaguars left tackle Cam Robinson for violating the league’s performance enhancing drug policy.

The veteran lineman was assessed a four-game suspension, requiring him to miss the first four weeks of the regular season. He’ll be able to return to the Jaguars’ active roster Oct. 2.

Robinson will be fully allowed to participate in training camp for the Jaguars, which begins July 26, including all of Jacksonville’s preseason games.

5 key questions: What remains unanswered as Jaguars conclude offseason program

“As a veteran leader in the locker room, I always want to set a good example and my actions in this instance are not a reflection of that goal,” Robinson said via a statement released by the club. “I apologize to the fans, my coaches and, most importantly, my teammates. It hurts me that I cannot be out there with my brothers at the start of the regular season. I will attack training camp the same way I have for the last six seasons, to make sure I am ready both mentally and physically.”

Robinson is entering his seventh season with the Jaguars after being selected 34th overall in the 2017 NFL Draft. He started 75 games for the Jacksonville, including 14 last season before suffering a season ending knee injury against the Dallas Cowboys.

He has been rehabbed this offseason and was a participant during voluntary organized team activities (OTAs) as an injured veteran. He’s expected to be fully recovered by the start of training camp.

The team had knowledge of the situation with Robinson and was active in the offseason to bolster their offensive line. After losing Jawaan Taylor to free agency, they drafted Anton Harrison with the 27th overall pick in this year’s draft. They also acquired tackle Josh Wells in free agency.

“We are aware of the four-game suspension incurred today by OL Cam Robinson,” the team said in a statement. “While we certainly respect the NFL's ruling and are disappointed with this development, we will support Cam as he works his way through the suspension. We are confident that Cam and our team will rise above this challenge as we collectively move forward.”

It’s expected that third-year tackle Walker Little will replace Robinson during the suspension. Little stepped in after Robinson’s injury last season and helped the Jaguars as they advanced to the playoffs.
