Jacksonville Jaguars kicker Brandon McManus had a big day last Sunday in the team's 23-7 victory over the Atlanta Falcons.

His contributions are getting some recognition after the league announced Wednesday that McManus was named the AFC special teams player of the week.

A special comeback: Jaguars kicking game rallies to play huge role in victory over Falcons

McManus converted all three of his field goals Sunday, including a 56-yard kick, the fifth-longest field goal in team history. It was the longest field goal made by a Jaguars kicker since Matthew Wright made a 56-yard kick against the Indianapolis Colts on Nov. 14, 2021. The team's franchise record for longest field goals made is 59 yards set by Josh Scobee in 2010 and Josh Lambo in 2020.

McManus' big day came after a tough week against the Houston Texans in Week 3. McManus missed a kick and had one block. Overall, the team's special teams in Week 3 had numerous mistakes, including allowing an 85-yard kick return by Texans fullback Andrew Beck.

The Jaguars signed McManus during the offseason after he was released by the Denver Broncos. The 10-year vet replaced Riley Patterson, who was traded to the Detroit Lions for a 2026 conditional seventh-round pick.

McManus has made 8-of-10 field goals thus far this season and all eight of his extra points. His only misses came against Houston.

This week, McManus and the rest of the Jaguars' special teams unit will take on the Buffalo Bills, the former stopping grounds for Jaguars special teams coordinator Heath Farwell.
