Jags find themselves next to last in USA TODAY Week 8 power rankings

The Jacksonville Jaguars fell another spot in USA TODAY’s power rankings for Week 8, putting them at the 31st spot. As a result, only one team came in behind them and that was the winless New York Jets.

31. Jaguars (30): Enter sixth-round rookie QB Jake Luton, who comes to Jacksonville via Idaho and Oregon State. He posted nifty 28-3 TD-to-INT ratio as senior for Beavers.

The Jags skid down the power rankings come after they were defeated by the Los Angeles Chargers Week 7 and entered their bye week afterward. With the loss to the Chargers, they entered their bye with a record of 1-6 and are just four teams with one win or less.

Luckily, they have a chance to move up in the rankings as they face another one of the league’s one-win teams in the Houston Texans. As mentioned above, rookie quarterback Jake Luton will start in that game as Gardner Minshew is likely to be sidelined with a significant thumb injury.

As for the rest of the AFC South, the Texans remained at the No. 27 spot while the Indianapolis Colts fell from 12th to 13th and the Tennessee Titans fell from fourth to eighth. The Pittsburgh Steelers remained in first place after defeating the Tennessee Titans this past Sunday.
