Jags open as 3.5-point favorites over the Texans

The Jacksonville Jaguars will be gearing up this week for their second battle with the Houston Texans of the 2021 season, and oddly enough, they are once again the favorites. With the game occurring on the Jags’ turf this time, Tipico Sportsbook has them down as 3.5-point favorites at the moment.

The game will mark the Jags’ next to last AFC South game of this season, and they will face a Texans team that has the same amount of wins as them, both of which have come in the division. Of course, Houston’s first win was at NRG Stadium against the Jags Week 1 (the other was against Tennessee), and it was a game where the Texans won impressively through a 37-21 final.

Week 15’s matchup will match up two rookie quarterbacks against each other as Davis Mills will be starting against Trevor Lawrence. Things could get especially interesting for both when considering the struggles of both offenses. The Jags will come into the game with the 30th ranked offense, while the Texans will come into it ranked dead last.

As for each team’s defense, the Jags will have a bigger edge there as they are currently 21st overall, while the Texans are next to last. The reason for that is because Houston’s rushing defense is the worst in the NFL, which could open up an opportunity for running back James Robinson.

Sunday’s game will mark both teams’ 39th meeting, and the Texans will come into it with a 26-13 record against the Jags. Kickoff for the game will be on Sunday at 1 p.m. on CBS.
