ISU track teams perform well at IU Invitational

Jan. 22—The strength of the performances by the Indiana State men's and women's track teams at last weekend's Indiana Invitational was apparent in the results of the field events.

ISU nearly swept the first-place finishes in those events at the Bloomington meet.

The Sycamores picked up seven first-place finishes over the course of the weekend in Gladstein Fieldhouse.

Those winners included Staggs in the pole vault, Shomari Rogers-Walton (long jump), Wyatt Puff (shot put) and Noah Bolt (weight throw), while Kevin Krutsch was second in the high jump.

In the track events, Casey Hood Jr.'s victory in the 60-meter dash was the lone Sycamore men's triumph.

For the women, Kyrsten Fehribach won the high jump and Dominique Wood (triple jump).

In addition to the top spots at the meet, the Sycamores also had multiple performances that cracked the program top-10 rankings. Niesha Anderson continued her stellar start to the 2023-24 season by moving into the top three in program history in the weight throw, while Napoleon Hernandez moved up to 10th in program history in the 600-meter run, the ISU sports information office reported.
