The Wisconsin women’s basketball team would pull no shocker in Iowa City Tuesday night.

The Badgers faced second-ranked Iowa at Carver-Hawkeye Arena and lost to their border rival, 96-50, for their 29th straight loss to the Hawkeyes.

The contest dropped the Badgers to 8-9 overall and 1-6 in the Big Ten. It was their fourth game in 10 games, a run that started with a win at Illinois Jan. 7 and was followed by losses to Northwestern, Michigan and now Iowa.

BOX SCORE: Iowa 96, Wisconsin 50

Sophomore forward Serah Williams posted her fourth straight double-double (19 points, 14 rebounds) for Wisconsin. Sophomore guard Ronnie Porter added nine points, six in the second half, with three rebounds before fouling out. Sania Copeland, another sophomore guard added eight points with six coming off a couple of three-pointers during the first five minutes.

Caitlin Clark, meanwhile, continued to make history for Iowa.

The senior passed Brittney Griner on the all-time NCAA Division I scoring list with a 32-point performance. Clark now ranks fourth all-time with 3,306 points, trailing only Washington’s Kelsey Plum (3,527), Ohio State’s Kelsey Mitchell (3,402) and Missouri State’s Jackie Stiles (3,393).

Clark also grabbed seven rebounds and dished out five assists. She was 6 for 14 from three-point to lead a 15 for 37 (40.5%) performance for the Hawkeyes from behind the arc.

Iowa’s success from three-point range as well as the Badgers’ 28 turnovers, which led to 42 Hawkeye points, were key factors in the team’s third straight loss.

Iowa led for the final 33 minutes but didn’t take a commanding lead until a 22-4 run to end the third quarter turned a 14-point advantage into a 76-44 lead.

Next for Wisconsin is a week-long break before playing host to Minnesota next Tuesday.

“I think we’ve had quite a long stretch here,” Wisconsin coach Marisa Moseley said on the Badgers post-game radio show. “There is a lot we can learn and if we use it properly it will help propel us in the second half of Big Ten and to go home and have a couple of home games would be nice.

“There’s moments with this group that you’re like we can figure some things out. We still have a lot more to figure out.”
