Friday's Week 2 schedule of Iowa high school football games, kickoff times
It is nearly time for Week 2 of the Iowa high school football season.
The second full Friday of high school action is highlighted by No. 1 Dowling Catholic, led by offensive lineman Kyle Rakers, facing No. 4 Valley in the annual West Des Moines showdown. Dowling cruised to a 38-21 victory over No. 5 Cedar Rapids Kennedy in Week 1 and Valley dropped a 24-18 battle with No. 2 Southeast Polk in a rematch of last year's 5A state title game.
This week also features the first-ever game between Waukee and Class 5A No. 7 Waukee Northwest. Waukee (1-0) is coming off a decisive 35-7 victory over Ames and Northwest (0-1) lost a competitive 23-17 battle with No. 3 Johnston.

A big rivalry game between 5A No. 8 Iowa City Liberty and Iowa City High takes place this Friday at Liberty High School. Johnston, ranked No. 3 in 5A, takes on No. 9 Cedar Falls at the UNI-Dome, Ankeny is hosting defending 5A state champion Southeast Polk, Des Moines East and Lincoln are facing off in a Metro-area rivalry game and Norwalk goes against Indianola in a 4A showdown.
