Inland Lakes’ LaBrecque, Robinson, Onaway’s George make All-Ski Valley girls first team
INDIAN RIVER – It was another history-making season for the Inland Lakes girls basketball team.
This year, the Bulldogs claimed an outright Ski Valley Conference title by outlasting league powers Gaylord St. Mary and Johannesburg-Lewiston in the standings.
Recently, the Bulldogs saw two players earn spots on the All-Ski Valley squad, as junior Brooklyn LaBrecque and sophomore Chloe Robinson made the Ski Valley first team. Two terrific all-around players, LaBrecque and Robinson were instrumental in Inland Lakes’ memorable Ski Valley championship run and a second consecutive district title.
Kailyn George represented the Onaway Cardinals on the Ski Valley’s first team after delivering a solid junior season as one of the conference’s best shooters and defenders.
SAC BOYS: Cheboygan’s Goodrich, Smith, Thater earn spots on All-SAC boys basketball team

Two other strong Onaway players, junior Charlotte Box and sophomore Marley Szymoniak, made the Ski Valley second team. Inland Lakes senior defensive star Taylor Jones also earned a second team nod.
Inland Lakes senior Marissa Kolly, Onaway junior Ema DeMaestri, and Pellston sophomores Breanna Willis and Lanie Irwin were each named to the team as honorable mentions.
The Ski Valley first team was led by Johannesburg-Lewiston senior Jayden Marlatt, who was named the conference’s player of the year. Other first teamers included Gaylord St. Mary’s Payton Glasby and Mancelona’s Alyssa Kiel.
Making up the rest of the Ski Valley second team were Johannesburg-Lewiston's Brittney Fox, Mancelona’s Ella Schramm, Bellaire’s Brooklyn Fischer, and Forest Area’s Desjanea Perkins.
Rounding out the squad with honorable mention nods were Emerson Wertman (Johannesburg-Lewiston), Lily Crank (Johannesburg-Lewiston), Yolanda Gascho (Johannesburg-Lewiston), Claire Shooks (Central Lake), Joelyssa Hayden (Central Lake), Aspen Evans (Central Lake), Alayna Brandt (Bellaire), Addyson Patton (Bellaire), Miriam Murrell (Gaylord St. Mary), Emery Blust (Gaylord St. Mary) and Emily Anger (Mancelona).
NLC GIRLS: Mackinaw City's Gracie Beauchamp named NLC's girls basketball player of the year
NLC BOYS: Mackinaw City's Bergstrom and Swanson, NMCA's Brabson make All-NLC basketball first team
Inland Lakes captured the Ski Valley crown with a 14-2 conference record, while Johannesburg-Lewiston was second at 13-3 and Gaylord St. Mary took third at 12-4.
