Injury knocks Tracy Cortez out of UFC on ESPN 30 fight vs. JJ Aldrich
The UFC on ESPN 30 lineup continues to take hit after hit.
After withdrawals Tuesday from Mario Bautista, Aliaskhab Khizriev, and Sara McMann, Tracy Cortez joined the pack of fighters who will not compete on the Aug. 28 card at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
Cortez (9-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC) suffered an injury, and as a result, the UFC is seeking a replacement to fight her previously scheduled opponent JJ Aldrich.
Multiple people with knowledge of the situation informed MMA Junkie of the withdrawal but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.
UFC on ESPN 30 marks the first time Cortez has withdrawn from a fight during her promotional tenure. Since a contract-earning win over Mariya Agapova on Dana White’s Contender Series, Cortez has won decisions over Vanessa Melo, Stephanie Egger, and Justine Kish.
As for Aldrich (9-4 MMA, 5-3 UFC), she has won two of her most recent three fights. In March, she defeated Cortney Casey via split decision.
With the change, the UFC on ESPN 30 lineup includes:
Edson Barboza vs. Giga Chikadze
