Injuries may change spring game format on Saturday

The Nebraska spring game on Saturday might look a little different than spring games of the past, according to Head Coach Scott Frost. On Monday, he told the media that injuries might prevent the Cornhuskers from participating in a typical two-team spring game. Instead, while no definitive decisions have been made, an offense vs. defense format may be adopted. The Huskers last used a similar structure in 2016 when the defense defeated the offense 46-41.

Frost also gave his thoughts on the spring football season, saying, “We have gotten a lot better at a lot of things, there is still some things I am not happy with that need to get cleaned up. That is spring ball in a nutshell. I did not think the offense had a great day today. We just need to execute a little bit better. We are doing some simple things a lot better. Spring has been fun. There has been a lot of guys bringing good energy. We are missing quite a few guys that are going to be key contributors and it will be nice to have them back but I think a lot of guys got better over the course of spring.”

The Nebraska Red-White Spring Game will take place on Saturday, April 9th, at 1:00 pm on the BTN.
