Indiana women’s basketball tickets hard to come by when Caitlin Clark returns to town

BLOOMINGTON — Indiana women’s basketball fans are gearing up for Iowa’s star guard Caitlin Clark’s return to Bloomington.

The Hoosiers will welcome the defending player of the year on Feb. 22 at Assembly Hall in a matchup that the program officially announced was sold out on Wednesday.

It’s the second sellout in program history — and second in as many years — after 17,222 fans attended the game against Purdue last February.

Indiana is averaging 9,010 fans per game this season in seven home contests, a number that ranks in the top 10 nationally. The Hoosiers ranked second in the Big Ten last year with a program-record average home attendance of 8,104.

The first matchup between the teams this season will be in Iowa City on Jan. 13 and the last game between the teams in Iowa City was a sell out (15,056 fans).

No. 14 Indiana (11-1; 2-0 Big Ten) is on a 10-game win streak while No. 4 Iowa (14-1; 3-0 Big Ten) has won 11 straight.

Clark, who is the two-time reigning Big Ten Player of the Year, extended that win streak with a buzzer-beater against Michigan State from the logo at half court on Tuesday night. She’s currently leading the country in scoring (31.5 points per game) and assists (7.4 per game).

Indiana wraps up a four-game home stand on Thursday night against Michigan.
