IHSAA baseball Fab 15: The top pitchers, hitters on Indy-area's top teams

The Fab 15 is back. Two teams (Whiteland and Perry Meridian) join the list, and as we reach the home stretch of the Indiana high school baseball season, here's a look at the players powering their teams up our rankings.

1. Noblesville (18-3)

Last ranking: No. 1

Top Hitter(s): Aiden Reynolds, Soph.; Trevor Corbett, Jr.

This is a toss-up between Noblesville's top two hitters. Reynolds leads the Millers with a .400 batting average, 24 hits and six doubles. Corbett leads with 24 RBIs, 30 runs scored and is tied with Aiden Ramsey for the team lead with two home runs.

Top Pitcher: Nolan Decker, Sr.

The senior is 4-0 with a team-high 35⅔ innings pitchers and 46 strikeouts. He has a 3.14 ERA and has allowed just one extra-base hit all season.

2. Center Grove (18-1)

Last Ranking: No. 2

Top Hitter: Carson Bush, Jr.

Bush's breakout season continues, as he moves from a breakout performer to one of the key pieces in the Trojans lineup. The junior leads the team with a .491 batting average, 28 hits and 28 runs scored.

Top Pitcher: Kobe Cherry, So.

The 6-4, 240-pound righty has developed into Center Grove's ace. Cherry is 6-0 with a 2.51 ERA and 40 strikeouts over 30⅔ innings.

3. Mooresville (17-2)

Last Ranking: No. 4

Top Hitter: Hogan Denny, Sr.

The IU commit is one of the top hitters in the state. Denny is batting .424 with 25 hits, 18 runs scored, 29 RBIs, six home runs, five doubles, three triples and 12 stolen bases.

Top Pitcher: Brendin Oliver, Sr.

The Cincinnati commit has a perfect 5-0 record with a 2.10 ERA and 52 strikeouts over 30 innings.

4. Fishers (16-7)

Last ranking: No. 5

Top Hitter: Jack Brown, Sr.

The Louisville commit is batting .411 with five RBIs, four doubles and one home run.

Top Pitcher: Brown just edges out Gavin Kuzniewski for the top spot here. Brown has a 4-1 record, with a team-high 44 and a 2.21 ERA over 31⅔ innings.

5. Zionsville (14-6)

Last Ranking: No. 6

Top Hitter: Josh Girvan, Sr.

Girvan is batting .421 with 24 runs scored, seven RBIs, five doubles, one triple and 20 stolen bases.

Top Pitcher: Mateo Wells, Sr.

Wells has put together a dominant senior season. The High Point commit has a minuscule 0.38 ERA with a 3-0 record and 52 strikeouts over 37 innings.

6. New Palestine (16-3)

Last ranking: No. 12

Top Hitter: Jackson Kamp, Jr.

Kamp is batting .417 with 25 hits, 22 RBIs, 10 doubles, one home run and eight runs scored.

Top Pitcher: Michael Thorpe, Sr.

The Dragons have a strong four-man arsenal, but Thorpe gets the nod here. Thorpe has a 4-0 record with a 2.80 ERA and 42 strikeouts over a team-high 30 innings.

7. Roncalli (13-5)

Last ranking: No. 7

Top Hitter: Sam Roeder, Jr.

Roeder is having a great all-around season as a do-everything piece of the Roncalli offense. The junior leads the Royals with 27 hits, 25 runs scored, 17 stolen bases and a .450 batting average. He's added 15 RBIs, six doubles, two triples and 10 walks for a team-leading .548 on-base percentage.

Top Pitcher: J.J. Prendergast, Sr.

Prendergast has a 4-1 record with a 1.62 ERA and 55 strikeouts over 39 innings.

8. Guerin Catholic (15-3)

Last ranking: No. 10

Top Hitter: Davis Wagner, Sr.

Ian Taylor has collected hits in bunches, but Wagner's run production gets him the nod here. Over the past 10 games, Wagner is batting .423 with nine runs scored, eight RBIs, two doubles and one home run.

Top Pitcher: Ryan Zimmerman, Sr.

Zimmerman's been on fire his past three starts. The senior has allowed just one earned run over 16 innings (0.44 ERA) with 12 strikeouts.

9. Bishop Chatard (16-6)

Last ranking: No. 9

Top Hitter: Chris Klug, Sr.

Klug has an impressive .538/.647/.846 slash line with 28 hits, five doubles, four triples, one home run, 14 RBIs, 20 runs scored and 11 stolen bases.

Top Pitcher: Henry Borg, Sr.

Borg has a 4-0 record with 24 strikeouts and a 2.83 ERA over 37 innings.

10. Lawrence North (16-3)

Last ranking: No. 11

Top Hitter: Logan Crock, Sr.

Crock is batting .392 with eight RBIs, two doubles and 25 stolen bases.

Top Pitcher: Brendan Boynton, Jr.

The junior is developing into an ace for the Wildcats. Boynton has a 5-1 record with a 0.92 ERA and 45 strikeouts over 38 innings.

11. Park Tudor (12-3)

Last Ranking: No. 13

Top Hitter: Desmond Francis, So.

Francis is batting .447 with 21 hits, 14 runs scored, 11 RBIs, three doubles, one triple and 11 stolen bases.

Top Pitcher: Carter Hall, Sr.

Hall has a 4-0 record with a 1.21 ERA and 38 strikeouts over 29 innings.

12. Brebeuf Jesuit (14-7)

Last ranking: No. 14

Top Hitter: Jackson Rinebold, Sr.

One of the top sluggers in the state, Rinebold is batting .444 with 28 hits, 20 RBIs, 19 runs scored, four home runs, three doubles and one triple.

Top Pitcher: Maverick Geske, Jr.

Christian Forniss is a lefty with nasty bat-missing stuff, but his control can be spotty at times, helping Geske get the nod here. Geske has a 5-1 record with a 1.98 ERA and 39 strikeouts over 29⅔ innings.

13. Whiteland (10-6)

Last Ranking: Unranked

Top Hitter: Drew Helton, Sr.

The Preseason Super Team member is showing why he's one of the best players in the state. Helton is batting .490 with 24 hits, 14 runs scored, 20 RBIs, six doubles, two home runs and one triple.

Top Pitcher: Helton

Helton's been dominant on the mound for the Warriors as well. The Purdue Fort Wayne commit is 4-0 with a 2.41 ERA and 22 strikeouts over 32 innings.

14. Avon (12-9)

Last ranking: No. 15

Top Hitter: Wyatt Pennington, Jr.

Pennington is batting .370 with 30 hits, 20 runs scored, 21 RBIs, eight doubles, two home runs, one triple and four stolen bases.

Top Pitcher: Kade Tislow, Sr.

Pennington has electric stuff as a reliever, but Tislow's larger workload and equally strong production makes him the choice her. The senior is 3-1 with a 2.33 ERA and 31 strikeouts over 24 innings.

15. Perry Meridian (12-6)

Last ranking: Unranked

Top Hitter: Aiden Kerr, Jr.

Kerr has been red-hot at the plate over the last two weeks. On the season, the junior is batting .354 with seven runs scored, 12 RBIs, two doubles and six home runs. Four of his home runs have come over his past six games.

Top Pitcher: Austin McNabb, Jr.

The Dayton commit is 6-1 with a 1.14 ERA and 53 strikeouts over 43 innings.
