Hutton Broadcasting will produce 100th anniversary Burning of Zozobra documentary

Jul. 4—Santa Fe-based Hutton Broadcasting will produce a feature documentary commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Burning of Zozobra in 2024.

Hutton will collaborate with the Kiwanis Club of Santa Fe, which has had the rights to the Burning of Zozobra on the Friday preceding Labor Day since 1964.

The Zozobra film will be the largest production for Hutton, which has produced more than 50 short firms and hundreds of commercial project since 2017. Zozobra surpasses Hutton's largest video project, the 25-minute documentary last year about the La Fonda on the Plaza, which also celebrated its 100-year anniversary.

Hutton for the next two years will interview many Zozobra fans, historians and "New Mexico influencers" over the next two years, culminating with highlights of the 2024 Zozobra event, a Hutton Broadcasting news release stated.

Will Shuster launched the burning of Zozobra in his backyard in 1924 and the tradition grew and grew.
