HoopsHype: Brooklyn Nets and Kyrie Irving relationship expected to continue beyond this season

Brooklyn Nets superstar Kyrie Irving is expected to be a part of the Nets beyond this season, according to an article published by HoopsHype on Wednesday. Irving’s future with the franchise has been a topic of discussion since this past offseason when there were reports that the Nets did not want to commit to Irving on a long-term basis.

In the offseason, it became clear that the Nets were tired of Irving and his tendency to not play for a variety of reasons. Whether it’s because of injuries (which he cannot control) or for other reasons like refusing to be vaccinated which cost him a good chunk of time last season. However, this season, outside of the incident where Irving tweeted a link to a documentary containing antisemitic material, he has shown that he can play at an elite level and that he’s trying his best to not be in the news for the wrong reasons.

Considering the rumors that were circulating in the summer, this is welcome news for the Nets and those who are fans of the franchise. HoopsHype explained exactly what was told to them by some NBA executives:

“In the process, several NBA executives who spoke with HoopsHype believe Irving and the Nets will continue their partnership together beyond this season – a notion that seemed improbable to many around the league amid Irving’s suspension and Brooklyn’s listless start to the season.”
