Hockey roundup: Prairie Centre stuns Willmar in OT

Jan. 26—WILLMAR — Prairie Centre forced overtime and came out on top against the Willmar boys hockey team, 3-2 Friday at Willmar Civic Center Arena.

The North Stars' Zac Bick scored the equalizer in the third period to make it a 2-2 game. Prairie Centre's Jesse Williams had the overtime game-winner. James Rieland also scored.

Willmar got an even strength goal from Jordan Gorans and a short-handed goal from Gibson Horyza. Cullen Gregory assisted on Gorans' tally.

The Cardinals (5-14-1) play host to Faribault at 7:15 p.m. Monday back at Willmar Civic Center Arena.

Morris/Benson Area got a pair of goals from Charlie Goff and Zach Wrobleski in its four-goal third period to beat Windom at Windom Arena.

Goff, a senior, also scored a goal in the first and second periods and assisted on one of Wrobleski's goals to finish with five points (4 goals, 1 assist). Wrobleski had two goals and an assist.

Also recording at least one point for the Storm was Tucker Blume (two assists), Kye Suess, Logan Hadfield, Alex Claussen and Kaleb Breuer.

Christopher Danielson made 30 saves on 33 shots faced for a .909 save percentage.

MBA next plays Worthington at 3 p.m. Saturday at Worthington Arena.

Hutchinson scored seven unanswered goals in its rout of Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato at Litchfield Civic Arena.

Nathan Thode scored the game's first two goals for Hutchinson. Dalsten Dusoski also had a pair of goals. Gunnar Bick, Charles Renner, Chase Tydlacka and Emma Reiter had one goal each.

For Litchfield/D-C, Anton Haataja and Spencer Niemela both scored.

Litchfield/D-C plays Mound-Westonka at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the David M. Thaler Sports Center in Mound.

Windom out-scored Morris/Benson Area 4-1 in the third period to come away with a win at Windom Arena.

Karlie Bruns, a senior forward, scored MBA's two goals. She has 39 goals and eight assists in 47 games played. Ava Klassen, Molly Jones and Kennlee Koehler each had an assist.

Mea Alsaker made 48 saves between the pipes, good for a .906 save percentage for the Storm.

MBA next plays Worthington at 1 p.m. Saturday at Worthington Arena.
