High school sports scores for the week of Sept. 18-23 on the Treasure Coast

Two early defensive touchdowns and contributions from several players on offense helped Yulee turn a long road trip into a winning visit to Port St. Lucie as the Hornets pulled away early in a 43-6 win over Tradition Prep Saturday.

The Pirates, winners of three straight games for the first time in program history, made two early stands in the red zone on defense that included an interception in the end zone by sophomore Jeremiah Michel but Yulee’s defense two plays after the takeaway got an even bigger defensive play.

Khalil Peavy’s forced fumble was picked up by MJ Mobley, who ran in from two yards out to give the Hornets a 7-0 lead.

Peavy forced another fumble two plays later and Coen Brehmer would cash in on a 1-yard touchdown run and just three plays after going up 14-0, Shamarion Gibbs picked off a pass from Tradition Prep quarterback Mason Brown and ran 49 yards for another touchdown as Yulee scored 22 points in a span of just over three minutes of game time.

Touchdown runs from Teonte’ Artis-Croxton and Ethan Myers and a touchdown pass from Nikao Smith to Sage Newberry in the second quarter put the Hornets ahead 42-0.

Tradition Prep's Zion Drummond catches a 24-yard touchdown in the second quarter against Yulee on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023 in Port St. Lucie.
