High school sports roundup (March 18)

Here’s a roundup of high school varsity action on Friday, March 18.

Baseball

Annapolis Area Christian School 9, Key 7: AACS (1-1) jumped out to a 5-0 lead after three innings and held off a late Obezags rally for the win. Ryan Jones singled, doubled and drove in four runs to lead AACS. Ryan Dickerson added a pair of RBIs. Will Henderson got the win on the mound scattering four runs and five hits in five-and-a-third innings.

For Key (1-1), Sean Boomer went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a stolen base. Angus Lunt Woodward had a hit and two RBIs. Will Dowton had two hits.

Girls lacrosse

Maryvale 9, Severn 6: Maryvale rallied from being down 6-2 at halftime, blanking Severn in the second half. Annabelle Jackson had three goals and an assist to lead Maryvale. Sam Paradise and Courtney Savage each scored twice with Paradise adding an assist. Courtney Devilbiss also scored, while Anna Commodari had three assists. In goal, Abby Fanciolli made eight saves.

Boys lacrosse

Gunston 7, Key 5: Jaeden Clarke and Reid Chapman each scored twice for Key, but it wasn’t enough. Teddy Fleming also scored. In goal, Henry Robbins made eight saves.
