High school sports roundup (Dec. 21)
Here’s a roundup of high school varsity action on Thursday, Dec. 21.
Girls basketball
C. Milton Wright 36, Joppatowne 24: The Mustangs got 10 points and nine rebounds from Sam Wolfkill, and nine points and eight rebounds from Emma Jankowiak as they beat the Mariners.
Mount de Sales 53, Centennial 27: Mackenzie Conley scored 22 points to lead the host Sailors (6-2) over the Eagles (4-3). Mount de Sales led 36-14 in the first half. The Sailors face Howard in the Holiday Hoops Festival at Catonsville next Friday. Centennial hosts Oakland Mills on Jan. 3.
Patterson Mill 39, Havre de Grace 37: Azareya Whiting scored 11 points and Sanai Knox had six points and nine rebounds, but the visiting Warriors fell to the Huskies.
Liberty 45, Glenelg 32: The Lions won on the road for their second straight victory. Alyssa Golombeck paced them with 15 points and seven steals. Kourtney Goff backed her with 10 points and seven rebounds. Also for Liberty, Key Vaselaros chipped in seven points and six steals and Gigi Hall had six points and four assists. Paige McKnight handed out six assists in the win.
Boys basketball
Liberty 57, Glenelg 41: Aaron Bald scored 13 points to lead the Lions to the nonconference win. Will Piwowarski scored 20 points for Glenelg (2-4), while Michael Tolle added 13.
Mt. Hebron 69, Westminster 57: Both Phil Prasartkarnka and Kenny Akinlosotu scored 15 points for the Vikings (5-1) in the win, while Julian Kelly also chipped in 12 points. Tai Akinlosotu also finished in double figures with 10 points. The host Owls were led by Micah Ozgar and Charlie Mollman, each with 16 points. Mollman also finished with seven rebounds and four assists.
South River 62, Eleanor Roosevelt 53: The visiting Seahawks beat the Raiders. South River was led by James Crimaudo (21 points), Jaden McDuffie (13 points), Jack Schrader (12 points) and Jamie Finn (11 points).
River Hill 92, Winters Mill 60: Aiden Igwebe scored a season-high 27 points in the win for the Hawks (6-0). OJ Ndu added 17 points, while Soma Unegbu had 12 and Braden Sauritch had 10.
