HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Whitman-Hanson baseball edges Scituate to improve to 9-2

Jacob Getchell pitched six scoreless innings with seven strikeouts Friday to lead the Whitman-Hanson High baseball team to a 3-2 win over Patriot League rival Scituate.

Ryan Carroll had his first three-hit game of the season for the Panthers (9-2), and Connor Sottak and Braden Kain each had multiple hits in the win.

Parker Freedman allowed two earned runs over six innings for Scituate (3-8), and Neil Sullivan (1-for-3, double, walk, run) and Jakob Henderson (1-for-3) had RBIs.

BASEBALL

Weymouth 13, Cardinal Spellman 2: The visiting Wildcats (10-3) stretched their winning streak to seven games as Matt Suplee allowed 2 hits over 5 innings with 7 strikeouts. Sean Zaslaw had a pair of hits, including a home run, and drove in 5 runs to lead the offense. Gill Dolan (3 hits, 2RBIs), Andrew Ferguson (home run) and Andrew Daley (2 hits, 2 RBIs) also starred.

Pembroke 6, Silver Lake 3: Aidan Blake, Ryan Bradley and Aidan Sullivan each had a pair of hits and drove in a run for the Titans in the road win. Garrett Bolan threw a complete-game 4-hitter with 10 strikeouts. For the Lakers, Shane Hackett pitched 4 innings, giving up 2 earned runs with 6 strikeouts, Colin Monteiro allowed 1 earned run over 3 innings, and Connor Finn was 2-for-3 with a run.

Abington 9, Hull 0: Winning pitcher Ryan Solimini (2 hits, 6 strikeouts) combined with relievers Owen Cote and Will Callahan on the shutout for the Green Wave. A.J. Nash, Spencer Merrick, Steve Madden, Solimini and Henry Rogers all drove in runs.

Braintree 7, King Philip 5: Senior Jack Fitzgerald hit a 3-run triple and had a 2-inning save as the visiting Wamps (6-7) knocked off KP (10-4), last year's Division 2 state finalists. Junior Sean O'Rourke had the winning hit in the sixth inning to put Braintree ahead to stay.

Duxbury 10, Quincy 1: Chris Walsh homered twice and drove in 6 runs for the host Dragons (10-2).

Hanover 8, Marshfield 2: Freshman Cole Hendrickson earned the win for the visiting Hawks (7-4), allowing 2 runs on 7 hits over 5 innings with 9 strikeouts and no walks. Owen Kennedy threw 2 innings in relief. Jake Pelish (2 hits, 2 RBIs) led the offense.

Hingham 14, Plymouth South 8: Senior right-hander Ben Berardi pitched 4.1 innings of scoreless relief as the Harbormen (4-7) raced out to a 13-0 lead and held on for the road win. For South (5-5), Colin Ducie was 3-for-4 with an RBI, and Cam Tetler was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Nat Ferry was 2-for-4 with a double and pitched well in 5.2 innings of relief.

St. Mary’s (Lynn) 9, Milton 6: The Wildcats (12-1) were upset at home by the Spartans (5-6).

Plymouth North 11, North Quincy 1: The Blue Eagles won a Patriot League game at home. For NQ, Vinny O'Leary had 2 hits, scored a run and stole 4 bases.

Norwell 8, Southeastern 1: The Clippers won a non-league game on the road.

SOFTBALL

North Quincy 10, Plymouth North 9: Keira Murphy delivered a walk-off, two-run single as the Raiders scored 8 runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to stun the Blue Eagles.

Abington 10, Notre Dame Academy 8 (8 inn.): Kayden Lynch (1-for-3, run, 3 RBIs) tied the game with a three-run double in the fourth inning, and Maddie Perry, Kasie Bailey and Brenna Howley each drove in a run in the top of the eighth to lift the Green Wave (8-3) to a non-league win. NDA was led by Shannon MacLeod (2-for-4, home run, 3 RBIs), Piper Levin (3-for-5, RBI) and Lauren White (2-for-4).

Bridgewater-Raynham 1, Milton 0: Lily Welch threw a 1-hit shutout with 7 strikeouts and no walks and was 2-for-3 at the plate for host B-R (10-1). Holly Clary doubled and drove in Lily Berman (triple) for the lone run. For Milton, Abby Hunt (4 innings, 2 strikeouts) and M.K. Maloney (2 innings, 2 strikeouts) did not allow an earned run, Sadie Steuterman made a diving catch in center field, and Shakura Lynch had a hit and stole a base.

Boston Latin School 5, Fontbonne Academy 4: Ava Donaghue homered and drove in 3 runs, and Tressa Murphy was 4-for-4, but the Ducks lost on the road in extra innings. Darcy LeFever drove in a run and struck out 8 in the circle, and Greta McEvoy added a pair of hits.

Marshfield 14, Hanover 2: Senior Sam Bongiolatti hit a 2-run homer and drove in 4 runs to power the Rams (8-2, 6-1) to a Patriot League road win. Sarah McIntyre and Jess Morrison each had a pair of hits, and winning pitcher Sofia Blanco allowed 4 hits. For Hanover (6-4), Kaelyn Chase had a pair of hits, including a double.

Walpole 13, Oliver Ames 1 (6 inn.): Paige Taylor pitched 6 innings and struck out 2 for OA. Maddie Homer had the only hit of the day on a bunt single, and Devon Morris scored the Tigers' lone run.

Silver Lake 2, Pembroke 0: Delaney Moquin's third-inning RBI, and Nina O'Neil's bases-loaded walk in the seventh inning lifted the Lakers (10-1) to a Patriot League road win. Bri Ghilardi pitched a complete-game 4-hitter with 11 strikeouts.

Brookline 13, Weymouth 12: Maddie Smith struck out 11, and Bella Pires was 2-for-2 with 2 runs and 2 RBIs, but the Wildcats lost on the road. Smith, Paige Sellon, Viv Palazzo and Robin Flatley all had multiple hits.

Hingham 4, Plymouth South 1: Bilyana Wilkin threw a complete-game 1-hitter with 10 strikeouts as the Harborwomen (10-1) qualified for the state playoffs. Wilkin also had an RBI double.

BOYS LACROSSE

Plymouth South 14, Abington 5: Hunter Grafton (2 assists) and Zach Buccigross each scored twice for the Green Wave in the non-league road loss.

Rockland 11, Archbishop Williams 8: Lucas Leander (5 goals, 3 assists) led the Bulldogs to a home win. Gaven Wardwell and Michael Moriarty each scored twice, and Tyler Boehner (goal, 5 assists), Joe Earner (goal) and Sean Geary (12 saves) also starred.

Cohasset 8, Bishop Feehan 4: Liam Appleton and Charlie Donovan each had hat tricks, and goalie Colin Humphrey made 17 saves as the Skippers (12-1) won a non-league game at home.

Hull 8, Falmouth Academy 2: The Pirates won at home on Senior Day.

Southeastern 16, Westport 5: Peyton Volz (5 goals), Trevor Lodge (3 goals), William Lannan (2 goals, 2 assists) and Sean Pechulis (2 goals) starred for the Hawks in the home win.

Falmouth 13, Whitman-Hanson 5: Luke Tropeano and Gavin McCarthy each scored twice, and James Whitman added a goal for the Panthers (4-7) in the road loss.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Cohasset 18, Falmouth 5: Kira Fulton scored 5 goals, and Libby Schiffmann, Avery Regan and Kate Greer each had hat tricks for the host Skippers. Rorie Newman was a defensive standout.

Bridgewater-Raynham 16, Dighton-Rehoboth 8: The Trojans won at home behind hat tricks from Sophia Perry (two assists), Emily Keefe (assist) and Lexi White (three assists).

Quincy 13, Whitman Hanson 9: The Presidents won a Patriot League game at home.

Middleboro 14, Hull 11: The host Pirates (10-1) suffered their first loss.

GIRLS TENNIS

Bridgewater-Raynham 5, East Bridgewater 0: Nicole Kimball, Holly Nichols and Meghan McInnes won in singles for B-R (4-2), which swept the doubles with the teams of Marlena Colwell/Lily Cooley and Annaliese Colwell/Eily Mitchell.

Hingham 5, Plymouth South 0: Sam Ruddick, Brooke Flynn and Simran Vaishnava won in singles for Hingham (9-0, 8-0 Patriot League), which swept the doubles with the teams of Tess Green/Maggie O'Keeffe and Jill McNamara/Cassie McCabe.

BOYS TENNIS

Duxbury 5, Quincy 0: The host Dragons (7-1) got doubles wins from the teams of Brandon Marconi/Jared Campbell and Charlie Siler/Marco Peary.

Hingham 4, Plymouth South 1: Ethan Warhaftig, Liam Arnold and the doubles teams of Thomas Fabrizio/Will Baker and Charlie Even/Charlie Donahue won in straight sets for Hingham. Charlie Ruggiero posted South's lone win.

BOYS RUGBY

Weymouth 36, Braintree 5: The Wildcats (3-1) defeated the Wamps (2-2) on the road.

Marshfield 27, Hingham 15: The Rams (2-2) topped the Harbormen (0-2).

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Taunton 3, Quincy 0: The Presidents (7-7) lost at home, 25-17, 25-20, 25-18. Quincy had 24 kills on 20 assists and 43 digs as a team.
