HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Tarsala reaches scoring milestone for Scituate girls lacrosse

Kate Tarsala netted her 100th career goal Tuesday to lead the Scituate High girls lacrosse team to a 12-2 road win over Marshfield in Patriot League action.

Charlotte Spaulding led the Sailors (8-6) with five goals.

Maija Kastrud scored twice for Marshfield (6-8).

GIRLS LACROSSE

New Bedford 18, Bridgewater-Raynham 12: Emily Keefe had 7 goals and 3 assists to reach 106 career points for the Trojans in the road loss. Ashley McLaren (2 goals), Grace LaRose (goal), Sophia Perry (goal, assist), and Audrey Lambert (assist) also contributed.

Weymouth 17, Braintree 4: Kira Keenan scored a career-high 4 goals to lead the Wildcats (11-6) to a road win. Megan Doyle (8 points, 6 draw controls) also starred, and Mira Flaherty and Cameron Flaherty each added 4 points. Anya Younie made 8 saves.

Plymouth North 14, Whitman-Hanson 9: Annika Pyy scored 10 goals, and Addie Pyy and Peyton Whiting each added a pair of goals for the Blue Eagles. Ella Nagle had a hat trick for W-H (6-6, 2-5 Patriot League) and Shannon Balfe and Maddie Allen each scored twice.

Quincy 20, North Quincy 9: The Presidents beat the Raiders in the city battle. Quincy clinched a berth in the Div. 1 state playoffs.

Silver Lake 14, Pembroke 2: Ava Nugent had a hat trick, and Cloe Geraigery and Grace Faherty each scored twice to power the host Lakers (8-7).

Hull 14, St. Joe's Prep 3: Fallon Ryan and Erin Walsh each had 5 points for the Pirates (12-4) in the non-league road win. Margot Harper added her first varsity goal, and Ava Russo made 8 saves.

Middleboro 16, East Bridgewater 3: The Sachems won at home in South Shore League action.

BOYS LACROSSE

Cohasset 10, Sandwich 4: Senior attack Rob Norton (5 goals, 2 assists), junior midfielder Liam Appleton (2 goals, 2 assists) and freshman attack Gus Greene (2 goals, assist) led the Skippers (14-2) to a road win. Defensively, Cohasset was led by junior Declan Lee (7 caused turnovers, 6 ground balls) senior Tom Hansen (4 caused turnovers, 5 ground balls), sophomore Garrett Wimberly (4 caused turnovers, 4 ground balls) and senior goalie Colin Humphrey (13 saves).

Whitman-Hanson 10, Plymouth North 4: Gavin McCarthy (3 goals, assist), Collin Murphy (2 goals, 2 assists), James Whitman (2 goals, assist) and Connor McCarthy (goal, 3 assists) starred for the Panthers (6-8, 6-3) in the Patriot League road win. Gavin McCarthy scored all his goals in the fourth quarter as W-H broke a 4-4 tie. Ryan Nash (5 ground balls) and David MacNeil (10 saves) were defensive standouts.

BC High 15, Xaverian 5: The Eagles (14-1) won on the road. BC High entered the day ranked No. 14 nationally by USA Lacrosse Magazine.

Duxbury 12, Hanover 7: The Dragons (12-3) beat the Hawks on the road in Patriot League action. Goalie Ronan Kearney played well for Hanover (5-9) in the loss.

Canton 18, Quincy/North Quincy 4: The Bulldogs won a non-league game at home.

Needham 18, Milton 6: The Wildcats lost on the road.

Silver Lake 15, Pembroke 6: The Lakers won on the road.

Scituate 9, Marshfield 8 (OT): The Sailors (9-7) edged the Rams at home in Patriot League action as Will Robinson (four goals, assist) netted the tying goal late in the fourth quarter and the winner in OT.

BASEBALL

Oliver Ames 16, Canton 6 (6 inn.): Lucas Riley doubled, tripled and drove in 5 runs, and Jack Morley and Patrick Finnerty each had 4 hits and 2 RBIs for OA in the road win. Morley also scored 4 times. Drew Hall added 2 hits and an RBI and threw out two would-be base-stealers. Winning pitcher Andrew Zagami threw a complete game, allowing only a walk and 4 earned runs.

Norwell 6, East Bridgewater 2: Jack Birtwell got the complete-game win for the host Clippers (11-5, 5-3 South Shore League), allowing 1 earned run with 4 strikeouts. Pat Higgins (2 hits, run) and Ky Princi (triple, 2 runs, 2 RBIs) also starred.

Middleboro 10, Abington 7: The Sachems (9-5) won a South Shore League road game.

Cohasset 17, Rockland 7: Nick Iontosca notched his first win of the season for the visiting Skippers.

St. John Paul II 2, West Bridgewater 1: The Wildcats lost a close game at home on Senior Day.

SOFTBALL

Middleboro 4, Abington 0: The Sachems scored 4 runs in the bottom of the sixth to post a South Shore League win. Elsie Testa (6 innings, no earned runs, 5 strikeouts, 2 walks) pitched well for the Green Wave (12-4) in the loss, and Bella Abrams, Jess Blyth, Elsie Testa and Maddie Perry recorded hits.

East Bridgewater 15, Norwell 3: Winning pitcher Maggie Schlossberg struck out 10 for the host Vikings. Schlossberg, Sarah Silvia, Riley Egan, Brooke Murphy, Zoe Kelly, Liz McNaught and Em McNaught all collected multiple hits for EB.

Notre Dame Academy 17, Fontbonne Academy 3: Shannon MacLeod allowed 5 hits with 7 strikeouts over 5 innings for NDA (9-5) in the road win. She also was 3-for-4 at the plate. Piper Levin (3-for-5) had a double, a triple and a home run and drove in 4 runs. Claire Ferrara (3-for-5, 2 triples, 4 RBIs) and Olivia Mainvielle (3-for-5, RBI) also starred. On Monday, NDA beat Rockland, 6-1, as MacLeod threw a no-hitter with 16 strikeouts and Hannah Gauthier (2-for-4) hit her first home run of the season. Ferrara (3-for-4, double, triple) and Mainvielle (2-for-4, 2 RBIs) also starred.

Milton Academy 5, BB&N 3: On Monday, Sophia Crowley was 3-for-3 with a double, a triple and three RBIs as the Mustangs (8-5) won at home.

GIRLS GOLF

Duxbury 6, Scituate 0: At Duxbury Yacht Club, the Dragons got wins from Harper Capilli (4 and 2), Layla Penn (5 and 4), Hannah Stout (3 and 2), Mary Kate Higgins (3 and 2), Caroline Donovan (3 and 2) and Hailey Flynn (4 and 3).

Quincy/North Quincy 4, Silver Lake 3: Q/NQ picked up a narrow win.

Hingham 6, Cohasset 0: The Harborwomen beat the Skippers.

BOYS TRACK & FIELD

Patriot League championship: Marshfield and Plymouth South tied for the team crown with 109 points each. Pembroke was third with 87 points, followed by Duxbury (fourth, 86), Hingham (fifth, 80) and Quincy/North Quincy (sixth, 69).

Southeast Conference championship: On Monday, Lucas Andrade won the high jump (6-2) and 110m hurdles (:15.32) and was second in the 400m hurdles (:59.98) as Brockton won the team crown with 127 points at New Bedford. Christensen Paul won the long jump (22-5), took second in the 100m (:11.53) and ran on the winning 4x400m relay (season-best :43.64) with Nazier Blue-Gomes, Jovanni Volcimus and Cam Monteiro. Also for Brockton: Michael Darche won the javelin (142-5); Seamus Canniff was third in the 2-mile (11:06.74) and fourth in the mile (4:57.65); Jarred Mighty was third in both the 400m hurdles (1:00.10) and 400m (:54.20); Karens Antoine was second in the 110m hurdles (:16.00) and fourth in the triple jump (40-9); and Jaden Lopes Ribiero was third in both the long jump (21-5) and the high jump (5-8).

GIRLS TRACK & FIELD

Patriot League championship: Hingham won the team crown with 122 points. Pembroke (76) was runner-up, followed by Marshfield (third, 67), Silver Lake (fourth, 66), Quincy/North Quincy (fifth, 60) and Plymouth South (sixth, 54).

Southeast Conference championship: Brockton finished second at Monday's meet in New Bedford as Catherine Moyes won the 200m and ran on the winning 4x100m relay with Miah Webb, Luciney Tavares and Issys Price. Price also was second in the 100m and long jump (with a PR), and Tavares was second in the high jump and third in the long jump. Other third-place finishers for the Boxers: Keira Williamson (800m), Kiica Garnier (100m hurdles), Aissata Conde (discus), Ava Monterio (javelin) and the 4x400m relay of Gabby Warner, Kaircya Fleurius, Aniyha Hill and Davina Johnson.

GIRLS TENNIS

Notre Dame Academy 5, Mount Alvernia 0: NDA won at home on Senior Day.

Wellesley 5, Hingham 0: The Harborwomen (12-2) dropped a non-league match.

BOYS TENNIS

Cohasset 5, Rockland/East Bridgewater 0: The Skippers won on the road over Rockland/EB (6-4, 3-2 South Shore League).
