BOYS BASKETBALL
Division I
Barrington 56, Narragansett 46
The Eagles' one-two punch delivered another victory, as Matt Raffa led all scorers with 23 points and teammate Nick Scandura added 22 to improve Barrington's record to 6-0 in Division I. For the host Mariners, Jackson Hohl netted a team-high 14 points in the loss.
Cranston East 51, Woonsocket 50 (OT)
The Villa Novans took an 8-point lead into the locker room but the Thunderbolts (2-2) fought back in the second half to force overtime, where they edged Woonsocket (1-5) for the win. East's Darien Peterson scored a game-high 20 points, and Albert Kresse added 9, including 3 in overtime. For Woonsocket, Aaron Kelly scored 9 and Antonio Delgado added 8 in the loss.
Portsmouth 84, Westerly 41
The Patriots started fast and didn't look back in this one. Kyle Bielawa was unstoppable, making six 3-pointers for a game-high 32 points. Adam Conheeny added 22 and Thomas Hurd chipped in with 8, as Portsmouth improved to 4-4. For the Bulldogs (3-5), Romello Hamelin scored a team-high 12 points, and Andrew Peatee and Jesse Samo each had 10.
East Providence 48, Smithfield 42
The Townies turned up the volume in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Sentinels 16-4 to notch their fifth win of the season. Tyler Gomez scored a team-high 11 points, Christian Torres added 9 and Kenaz Ochgwu scored 4 of his 8 points in the final frame to help seal the win. For Smithfield (1-2), Devon Smith scored a team-best 11 points.
Division II
St. Raphael's 61, Middletown 43
Zerek Johnson led the Saints with 18 points, Jay-Den Matos had 13 and Khamari Brown added 12 to keep St. Ray's unbeaten on the season (6-0). Middletown (3-3) was led by RJ Wiggins with 13.
Tolman 70, West Warwick 66
In a tight game, Tolman’s Malik Gelinas led all scorers with 25 points as the Tigers defeated Cranston West. John Hilaire added 17 points for Tolman and Daniel Saulsby scored 15. The Falcons, who led, 40-39, at halftime, got 16 points from Adreyan Perez and 15 from Jaymien Aponte.
Rogers 45, Tiverton 30
Alex Toribio led all scorers with 11 points to help the Vikings handily defeat the Tigers on the road Tuesday night.
Division III
Prout 76, Exeter-West Greenwich 74
The Crusaders sealed the game with a minute left to play on Matt Chofay's rebound and steal. Prout was led by Lawson O'Hearn's 25 points. Ryan Antonucci scored 20 and Charlie Horne added 13. For the Scarlet Knights, Kole Kilduff scored a team-high 21.
North Providence 53, North Smithfield 48
The Cougars kept their win streak alive (8-0) as they handed North Smithfield its first loss of the season. Kyle Prete led all scorers with 17 points, Jeremiah Lenus had 12 and Ryan Rodriguez added 13. For the Northmen (7-1), Anthony Paiva and Al Viera-Dones each had 11 points
Mount St. Charles 54, Davies 44
Mount St. Charles defeated Davies on the road, led by Manny Adeyeye’s 12 points and Michael Rizoli’s 11. The Patriots’ Nate Borden was the top scorer in the game with 14 points.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Davies 47, PCD 21
A balanced offensive attack, with 8 players making the score sheet, propelled the Patriots past PCD and kept their record unblemished (5-0). Aniyah Gomes (13 points) and Jojo Ali (9 points) lead the way with strong nights on the boards and turning defensive rebounds into transition baskets. For PCD, Eloise Wetherby scored 8 points in the loss.
GIRLS SWIMMING
Westerly 48, Bay View 46
The Bulldogs boasted four swimmers who took first place in multiple events. Olivia O'Neil won the 200 freestyle (2:19.12) and 500 freestyle (5:07.73), and was part of two winning relays — the 200 medley and 400 freestyle. Abby Donato won the 200 individual medley (2:33.77) and butterfly (1:06.46), and was also in those same winning relays. Mackenzie Gabriele won the backstroke (1:18.59), and swam in the medley and 200 free relays, and Peyton Pietraszka won the 100 freestyle (1:05.26) and swam the 200 free and 400 free relays. For Bay View, Kate Shields won the 50 freestyle (30.08) and Kate Waldorf won the breaststroke (1:34.95).
