High School Roundup: Scores and recaps from around RI on Wednesday night

BOYS SOCCER

Division I

Portsmouth 2, North Kingstown 2

The Skippers (9-2-2) held a 1-0 lead at the break, but Portsmouth (1-8-3) scored 2 in the second as the game ended in a 2-2 draw. For the Patriots, Kyle Bielawa and Aidan Chen each scored and Tyler Both had an assist. For NK, goals came from Johnluca Frenzilli and Thomas DeNicola, with an assist from Brody Longval. In net, Sean Wilkey had 7 saves for Portsmouth; Ethan Ford had 5 for NK.

Division III

St. Raphael 1, Middletown 0

After a scoreless first half, St. Raphael's Reggie Brown scored what would be the only goal in the game and the goaltender Julian Diaz made the goal standup with 10 saves as the Saints went on to shut out the Highlanders. Middletown's netminder Brady Venacio had 4 saves in the loss.

Division IV

Davies 2, Woonsocket 0

Matthew Restrepo took a perfect pass from Alessandro Sanchez to net the game-winning goal, while the Patriots midfield held its ground to blank the Villa Novans. An own goal gave Davies the 2-goal advantage. Davies goalie Miguel Vazquez recorded a clean sheet on Senior Night, with 8 saves; Woonsocket's Nathan Brunelle had 5. The win improves Davies' record to 9-3-2. while Woonsocket slips to 8-2-1.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Division I

La Salle 3, Prout 0

The Rams' Abby Crowley had 7 digs, Kaelyn Whitaker had 6 kills and 7 aces, and Maisy Naff had 13 kills, as La Salle improved to 9-5. For Prout, Alice McGuire had 3 kills and Tett Cronin recorded 8 digs. The Crusaders slipped to 5-10.

South Kingstown 3, West Warwick 0 (25-4, 25-18, 25-13)

Strong outings from a trio of players helped South Kingstown upend West Warwick. Leading the way for the Rebels were Karen Lambert (8 kills and 4 aces), Sierra Thompson (9 kills, 2 blocks) and India Vaugh-Hallene (8 kills, 3 blocks). West Warwick's Olivia Zajdek recorded 8 digs and 2 aces, Kathleen Tschaen had 3 blocks and 2 kills and Emily Camara was good for 4 assists and 4 aces.

North Kingstown 3, Portsmouth 0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-22); JV - NK, 2-0.

North Kingstown improved its lead in D-I with a sweep over Portsmouth. Leading the Skippers to victory were Annie Draper (10 kills, 6 digs), Sophia Jones (2 aces, 16 digs) and Ashtyn Novasad (2 aces, 9 digs. Doing everything they could do to keep the Patriots in the game were Hailey LaBonte who posted 14 kills, 2 aces, 7 digs and 2 assists and Avery Pelletier who had 13 kills, 2 aces, 5 digs and 1 assist.

Division II

East Providence 3, Exeter/West Greenwich 0 (25-16, 25-23, 25-21); JV - EP, 2-0

Jathai Sanchez led the Townies with 7 kills and Nora Fineran recorded 12 assists, 4 digs and 2 aces to keep East Providence (13-0) undefeated with two games left in the regular season. For the Scarlet Knights, Erin Tierney had 8 kills and an ace in the loss.

Bay View 3, Cranston West 0 (14-25, 25-18, 25-15, 25-19); JV - CW, 2-0

Bay View capitalized on the solid play of Giana Paolino (10 aces, 25 assists), Avery Gomes (10 kills, 1 ace) and Ella Rwenzo (7 kills, 2 aces) and went on to sweep Cranston West. For the Falcons, Olivia Venagro recorded 11 assists, 7 digs, 3 kills and 1 ace in the loss.

Cumberland 3, Pilgrim 0 (25-20, 25-18, 25-21)

The Clippers were led by Lindsay Molis, with 9 kills, Brennah AbilheiraCargill had 15 digs and Kaylee Bradley recorded 22 assists in the win. For the Patriots, Kayli Sherlock had 8 kills and Lauryn Newman had 4 aces in the loss. Cumberland is now 11-2 on the season; Pilgrim falls to 3-10.

Middletown 3, Ponaganset 0 (26-24, 25-14, 25-22)

Aidan Reilly recorded 5 Aces, 10 kills and 10 digs; Olivia Kestler had 2 aces, 2 Kills, 2 Blocks and 27 assists and Gwen Delaney posted 6 aces and 5 kills as the Highlanders overwhelmed the Chieftains. For Ponaganset,  Alayna Gardner had 3 aces, 2 assists and 5 blocks; Lily Racine was good for 2 kills, 4 blocks and 2 digs and Ava DiFiore had 4 aces, 2 kills and 13 assists in the loss.

Mt. Hope 3, Westerly 2 (22-25, 25-27, 25-13, 25-16, 15-8)

After losing the first two sets, the Huskies roared back to win three straight and push their record to 12-1. Mt. Hope's Mia Shaw led the way with 5 aces, 4 kills and 23 assists, Grace Gerhard had 8 kills and 6 digs and Mia Hanson had 15 digs and 4 aces in the hard-fought win. The Bulldogs' Lyla Auth had 5 kills, 6 aces, 11 digs and 11 assists and Alex Stoehr had 18 digs in the loss.

North Smithfield 3, Lincoln 2 (25-19, 23-25, 25-11, 25-23, 15-13)

Division IV

Davies 3, Achievement First 0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-22)

For the Patriots, Taliya Robillard-Montas had 14 aces, 6 kills, 4 digs and 3 assists, and Elizabeth Tobon recorded 3 aces, 4 kills to help Davies improve to 6-7.

Division III

Tiverton 3, Central Falls 0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-18); JV - 1-1 tie.
