High school roundup: Moffett headlines Watertown's victory over Indian River in boys basketball

Jan. 20—WATERTOWN — Parker Moffett registered a double-double by scoring a game-high 20 points and hauling in 11 rebounds, and Jack Adams scored 19 points to fuel Watertown's boys basketball team past Indian River, 69-48, on Friday night in a Frontier League "A-B" Division game.

Seth Charlton chipped in with 14 points and also totaled five rebounds and 11 assists for the Cyclones, who improve to 8-5, including 5-2 in league play.

Adams also registered four rebounds and seven assists for Watertown, which led 20-12 through the opening quarter before building a 24-12 advantage by halftime.

Fred Haynes supplied 12 points to pace the Warriors (3-8, 0-6).

SANDY CREEK 77, LYME 28

Mason Ennist posted a double-double of 16 points and 13 rebounds and also tallied six assists as the Comets rolled to victory against the Lakers in an interdivisional game in Chaumont.

Hudson Hunt generated 15 points and Logan Lando supplied 14 points for Sandy Creek (9-2, 8-1), which clinched the division's regular-season title with the win.

Colton Killiam and Cameron Hathway each added 12 points for the Comets.

Alex Radley scored 15 points to pace Lyme (2-11, 1-9).

GENERAL BROWN 63, BEAVER RIVER 50

Aiden McManaman scored 24 points to pace the Lions past the Beavers to win a nonleague game in Beaver Falls.

Luke Dupee added 13 points for General Brown (4-8), which led 30-21 at halftime before outscoring Beaver River, 18-12 in the third quarter to take command.

Kade Schneider scored 24 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Beavers.

Carter Rice and Matthew Knight each added 12 points for Beaver River (3-10).

HARRISVILLE 86, EDWARDS-KNOX 38

Tanner Sullivan scored 22 points and Nolan Sullivan provided 21 points to propel the Pirates past the Cougars to win a Northern Athletic Conference West Division game.

Aiden Chartrand contributed 14 points for Harrisville and Joe Shephard and Liam Winters chipped in with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

LISBON 61, HERMON-DEKALB 49

Cooper Rutherford tallied a game-high 30 points to spark the Golden Knights to victory against the Demons in an NAC West Division game.

Noah Locy led Hermon-DeKalb with a 24-point effort and Emerson McQuade supplied 14 points.

HEUVELTON 61, MORRISTOWN 56

Cam Johnson scored a team-high 15 and Tony Tachino contributed 12 points as the Bulldogs outlasted the Green Rockets to win an NAC West Division game.

MADRID-WADDINGTON 52, ST. LAWRENCE CENTRAL 47

Freshman Jamison Zysik scored a game-high 19 points, including burying three 3-pointers, to pace the Yellowjackets past the Larries to win an NAC East Division encounter.

Jakob Mayette delivered 10 points for Madrid-Waddington.

Ayden Beach and Damien Ashley generated 16 and 14 points, respectively, to spark St. Lawrence Central.

CHATEAUGAY 31, BRUSHTON-MOIRA 23

Josh Johnston scored a game-high 14 points to go along with eight rebounds, five assists and seven steals as the Bulldogs defeated the Panthers in an NAC East Division game.

COLTON-PIERREPONT 48, PARISHVILLE-HOPKINTON 25

Eric Friedel delivered a 27-point effort as the Colts topped the Panthers to win an NAC East Division game.

Ryan Griffith scored 10 points to lead Parishville-Hopkinton.

Also in NAC play, Tupper Lake defeated St. Regis Falls, 86-51.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

LOWVILLE 70, CARTHAGE 28

Freshman Alyssa Millard scored a game-high 26 points, including connecting on five of six 3-pointer attempts, to spark the Red Raiders past the Comets to win an "A-B" Division game in Carthage.

Anna Dening contributed 19 points, including draining five 3-pointers, for Lowville (4-7, 3-5), and Alyvia Millard added 10 points, including a pair of 3-pointers.

In all, the Red Raiders shot 14-for-27 from 3-point range on the night.

Alyssa Millard also totaled four rebounds, six assists and six steals for Lowville, which led 15-6 through the first quarter before forging a 34-17 advantage through the opening half.

Alana Ault scored nine points to pace Carthage (1-10, 1-8).

SACKETS HARBOR 44, BELLEVILLE HENDERSON 20

Peyton Britton scored 14 points and recorded six steals to help pace the Patriots to victory over the Panthers in a "D" Division game in Sackets Harbor.

Emily Curley supplied 13 points for Sackets Harbor (9-3, 6-3) against Belleville Henderson (3-8, 2-7).

The Patriots built a 29-8 lead through the first half, including shutting out the Panthers, 8-0, in the opening quarter.

WATERTOWN 57, COPENHAGEN 50

The Cyclones (4-11) defeated the Golden Knights to win a nonleague game played in Copenhagen.

Samantha Stokely generated a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds for Copenhagen (9-5), and Halle Miller and Madison Cheek each contributed 10 points.

Miller also totaled eight rebounds and Claire Jones chipped in with nine points and six assists.

OFA 35, NORWOOD-NORFOLK 33

Freshman Carlee Thompson scored 16 of a season-high 18 points in the second half to pace the Blue Devils to a road win over the Flyers in an NAC Central Division game.

Thompson also generated eight rebounds and three steals for Ogdensburg Free Academy and Ireland McNally grabbed 11 rebounds.

Olivia Plonka tallied 13 points to lead Norwood-Norfolk.

Also in NAC play, Colton-Pierrepont defeated Parishville-Hopkinton, 60-21, Malone bested Canton, 47-34, and Massena topped Salmon River, 74-37.

VOLLEYBALL

LOWVILLE 3, CARTHAGE 1

Lowville rallied from a first-set loss to take the next three and beat Carthage (8-4, 7-3) in a Frontier League interdivision match, 22-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-13 at Lowville.

Rubi Zabielowicz connected for 12 kills and had 19 digs on defense. Taylor Newton added eight kills and Allison Rozanski seven kills for the Raiders (5-5, 5-4).

Abrianna Turck totaled 32 digs and Kally Runner contributed 19 assists. Chloe Zehr added 16 assists and three aces. Katelynn Baker finished with five kills and 16 digs.

GENERAL BROWN 3, WATERTOWN 0

Adyson Kittle generated 12 service points and seven digs as the Lions swept the Cyclones in an interdivisional match in Watertown, prevailing 25-20, 25-20 and 25-20.

Addyson Starr and Maura Natali each totaled eight service points and tallied 14 assists and 12 digs, respectively, for General Brown (5-7, 3-6).

Haley Parker chipped in with 10 digs for the Lions.

Augusta Boomhower generated six service points, including five aces, and 18 assists for Watertown (4-5, 4-4), Nalyssia Weaver totaled eight service points and eight kills and Olivia Urf tallied a team-high 12 digs.

BEAVER RIVER 3, THOUSAND ISLANDS 0

Ashlyn Boliver served for 24 points, including 12 aces, and added 10 digs as Beaver River swept Thousand Islands 25-10, 25-12, 25-8 in a "C" Division match in Clayton.

Kaelyn Boliver supplied 10 kills and 10 service points. Rori Mattis led with 14 assists for Beaver River (10-0, 9-0).

Adelynn Olmstead and McKinley Becker each finished with five kills.

WRESTLING

OFA 54, MASSENA 12

The Blue Devils won the first seven matches en route to recording an NAC triumph against the Red Raiders.

Connor Young (285-pound weight class), Braxton Kendall (124), Jack Hunter (131) and Colin Brenno (145), Cayne Trimm (160) and Peyton Worden (190) each recorded pins for OFA (4-1).

Nolan Jenson (152) and Cameron Walcott (170) each won by fall to pace Massena.

Assistant coach Zach Sweeney, an OFA graduate, filled in for head coach Bill Mitchell and picked up his first varsity win.

BOYS HOCKEY

SALMON RIVER 3, OFA 3 (OT)

The Shamrocks rallied from a two-goal deficit in the third period to draw even and record a tie with the Blue Devils in an NAC Division II game played at OFA.

Carter Johnson scored a pair of goals, including a shorthanded tally and then the tying goal with 4:21 left in regulation, which was assisted by Dylan Johnson and Kahontiio Lazore, for Salmon River.

Dylan Johnson also scored a goal and goalie Ethan Gibson made 33 saves made 33 saves for Salmon River.

Haydin McDonald tallied a goal and an assist for OFA and Nathan Irvine and Lorenzo Rand scored a goal each.

Ty Jacobs recorded 45 stops for OFA.

Also in NAC play, Norwood-Norfolk defeated Malone, 5-2, the Islanders downed St. Lawrence Central, 6-2, and Tupper Lake topped Plattsburgh, 5-2, in a nonleague game.

In nonleague girls hockey, Massena edged Oswego, 6-5, Clinton defeated Alexandria, 3-1, and Beekmantown beat Saranac/Lake Placid, 6-2.
