HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Gaudiano powers North Quincy baseball to home win over Duxbury

Max Gaudiano had four hits, including a double, and drove in a run, and Alex Montero had a hit, scored twice and drove in three runs Tuesday as the North Quincy High baseball team posted a 13-6 win over Patriot League rival Duxbury at Adams Field in Quincy.

Aidan Bridges earned the win for the Raiders (3-5), striking out five over 4⅓ innings. Montero finished up with 2 innings, allowing a hit and an earned run.

Dan Hudach stole five bases and scored three runs, Charlie Ambroult had a two-run single, and Kevin Pritchard had a hit, a stolen base and scored twice.

BASEBALL

Hingham 8, Quincy 0: Jake Schulte threw a no-hitter for the Harbormen with no walks and 9 strikeouts. Two Quincy hitters reached base on errors. Schulte threw 82 pitches, 61 for strikes. Alex McGowan (2 hits, triple, 3 RBIs), James Rozanitis (3 hits) and Chris Volpe (2 hits, double, RBI) led the offense.

Archbishop Williams 5, Cardinal Spellman 2: Chris Swirbalus (2-1, 0.96 ERA) got the win for the Bishops (5-3, 2-2 Catholic Central League), working 5 innings with 6 strikeouts and no earned runs. Bryan Cahill earned the save. Wilfred Santiago (2-for-2, triple, walk, 2 RBIs), Cahill (2-for-2, double, 2 RBIs) and Ryan Beardsley (2-for-2, walk, 2 runs) starred at the plate. Ben Sepeck had 2 hits for the Cardinals in the loss.

Plymouth South 1, Plymouth North 0: Cam Tetler threw a 4-hit shutout with 7 strikeouts and Colin Ducie drove in the only run as the Panthers won the town battle. Plymouth North’s DC Brown also went the distance, only giving up 2 hits and striking out 11. North senior Connor Mackenzie had a double.

Whitman-Hanson 7, Pembroke 1: Ryan Baker got the win for the Panthers (6-2), working 6 innings with no earned runs and 5 strikeouts. Evan Yakavonis, Connor Sottak and Dave Martin had key run-scoring hits in the fifth inning.

Marshfield 5, Scituate 0: Senior right-hander Jack Keane (4-0) threw a 2-hit shutout for the visiting Rams, striking out 14 and walking only one. Sophomore second baseman Jack Doherty had a 2-run double, and Jay Vigilante (2-for-3) and Jack Croft (2 runs) also starred.

South Shore Tech 19, Norfolk Aggie 1: Gabe Scanlon earned the win on the mound and had his first varsity hit for the visiting Vikings. Tyrin McDonald and Lucas Salvucci each had a pair of hits.

Southeastern 11, Bristol-Plymouth 7: Jared Graca earned the complete-game win, striking out 8 for the Hawks (4-1). Nicholas Arsenault (2-for-4, 4 RBIs), Joseph Tully (2-for-4, 2 runs, 2 RBIs), Nicholas Sturdevant (2-for-4, 2 RBIs) and Andrew Haddigan (reached based 4 times, 2 steals, 2 runs) led the offense.

Hanover 4, Silver Lake 2: Freshman Cole Hendrickson threw a complete-game 4-hitter with 7 strikeouts for the Hawks. Right fielder Mehki Bryan and center fielder Connor Hutchison each made a great catch, and John McDonald was 2-for-4 with a triple and and RBI.

SOFTBALL

Plymouth North 11, Plymouth South 1: Marissa Durette got the win, pitching 4 innings with 8 strikeouts, while also hitting a pair singles and a triple for North (3-3). Molly Ryan pitched 2 innings, striking out 2 and giving up no runs. Victoria Parent closed the game with a strikeout. Callie Smith went 4-for-5 with a single, 2 doubles and 2 triples; Bella Piekarski got 2 triples and a double; and Ellie Snyder and Jasmyne Filippini also contributed with key hits.

Bridgewater-Raynham 5, Durfee 1: Emma Flaherty (2 hits, run, RBI) and Lily Welch (2-run home run) led B-R (7-1) to a home win. Holly Clary threw a 2-hitter with 11 strikeouts and no walks.

Carver 13, Dennis-Yarmouth 1: Maddie Butler doubled, tripled and drove in 4 runs to power the Crusaders. Allison Thomas added an RBI triple, and Butler earned the win in the circle, allowing 4 hits over 6 innings with 5 strikeouts.

Archbishop Williams 16, Cardinal Spellman 2: Shelby Parr was 3-for-3 and earned the win in the circle for the Bishops (7-3), allowing 1 earned run with 13 strikeouts. Roslyn Quinn had 2 hits for the Cardinals.

Oliver Ames 6, Canton 4: Katie Melendy struck out 6 in a complete-game win for visiting OA, which rallied from a 2-0 deficit. Maddie Homer (2-for-3, 2 runs), Devon Morris (run, 2 RBIs), Crystaliah Covel (3-for-4, run, RBI) and Emily Martin (RBI double) paced the offense. Shealyn Murphy pitched well for Canton.

Silver Lake 12, Hanover 0: Delaney Moquin threw a 1-hitter, striking out 9, for the Lakers (7-1), and Bri Ghilardi and Alanna Waters had multiple hits.

Norfolk Aggie 17, South Shore Tech 12: In the loss, SST senior Sarah Walsh was 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles and 2 RBIs. Seniors Zoey Bradshaw and Lexi Mitsiopoulos each had a pair of hits.

West Bridgewater 21, Bishop Connolly 4: The Wildcats banged out 26 hits, led by Amanda Jacques (4-for-6, 2 runs, 4 RBIs), Neala Boyd (4-for-4, 5 runs), Lilly Martel (4-for-5, 2 runs, 2 RBIs), McKenzie Craig (4-for-5, 3 runs, 2 RBIs) and Brianna LaGrange (3-for-5, run, 3 RBIs).

Notre Dame Academy 9, Rockland 8: Shannon Macleod (3-for-5, home run, double, 3 RBIs) delivered the walk-off hit in the seventh inning for NDA (3-2). She also struck out 7 over 4 innings, allowing 3 hits. Emma Doan earned the win in relief, while Piper Levin (3-for-3, 2 triples, 3 RBIs) and Ava O’Donahue (3-for-3, double, 2 RBIs) also starred.

Marshfield 16, Scituate 7: Senior Sam Bongiolatti was 5-for-5 with 4 runs and 3 RBIs as the Rams (6-2) won a Patriot League game at home. Senior Jess Morrison (4-for-5) and junior Haylie McPhee (3-for-3, 2 RBIs) also starred.

Pembroke 5, Whitman-Hanson 0: Lauryn Meade pitched all 7 innings for the Panthers in the loss, striking out 10.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Oliver Ames 15, Sharon 7: Catie Wilson (5 goals, assist), Taylor McAndrew (4 goals) and goalkeeper Claire O’Rouke starred for the Tigers in the Hockomock League win. Chloe Finch scored twice, and Erin Cottam, Liv O’Rourke, Kayla Magit and Gabriella Nastasia added goals.

Braintree 9, Milton 7: Sophomore Bella Duffy and junior Ava MacDonald each had a hat trick for the Wamps (3-4) in the Bay State Conference home win. Freshman goalie Norah Downey made 6 saves.

Notre Dame Academy 16, Westwood 11: NDA (9-0) raced out to leads of 5-0 and 8-3 (at halftime) and held on for the non-league road win against the Wolverines (6-3).

Weymouth 12, Walpole 10: Megan Doyle had 7 points and 15 draw controls as the Wildcats beat their Bay State Conference rivals for the first time since 2007.

Norwell 16, Mashpee 1: The Clippers (5-1) got goals from 12 different players, including Charlise Cox (4 goals, 5 draw controls) and Danielle Cox (2 goals).

Hull 20, Rockland 3: The Pirates won a South Shore League game.

BOYS LACROSSE

Cohasset 20, East Bridgewater 6: Senior midfielder Charlie Donovan (6 goals, 2 assists) and senior attack Rob Norton (3 goals, 6 assists) paced the Skippers (8-1). Senior Tom Hansen and sophomore Garrett Wimberly anchored the Cohasset defense.

Rockland 17, Hull 5: Lucas Leander (7 goals, 3 assists), Tyler Boehner (5 goals, assist) and Joe Earner (3 goals, 2 assists) led the Bulldogs to a South Shore League win. Sean Geary made 13 saves.

Milton 15, Braintree 6: The Wildcats won a Bay State Conference home game.

Abington 20, Middleboro 3: Hunter Grafton scored 10 goals, including No. 100 for his career, and added 4 assists for the Green Wave.

GIRLS TENNIS

Cardinal Spellman 4, St. Mary's (Lynn) 1: Amelia Carey (No. 1) and Liliana Carey (No. 2) won in singles, and Spellman swept the doubles with the teams of Dee Dee Denaud/Elizabeth Murphy (No. 1) and Sam Twomey/Angie Edouard (No. 2).

BOYS TENNIS

Duxbury 5, North Quincy 0: Tim Vargas, Taylor Bettencourt and Peter Burnham won in singles for the Dragons (5-0). Teddy Frasier and Teddy Collins won their doubles match. NQ drops to 6-2.

Whitman-Hanson 4, Pembroke 1: The Panthers (3-3) got singles wins from Mateo Santalucia (No. 2) and Tristan Baker (No. 3) and swept the doubles with the teams of Zach Lindsay/James Goyette (No. 1) and Drew Fountain/George Dykens (No. 2).

Hingham 5, Quincy 0: Ethan Warhaftig, Thomas Fabrizio and Hector Munoz won in singles, and the host Harbormen swept the doubles with the teams of Teddy Reilly/Logan Price and Trevor Buckeridge/Charlie Banks.

BOYS TRACK & FIELD

Stoughton 91, Canton 46: In the loss for Canton, Mo Arugollu won the 400m hurdles (1:06.8) and triple jump (36-9) and ran on the winning 4x400m relay (3:46) with teammates Dan Krasylnykov, Dan Glemaud and Ruairi Ritson. Krasylnykov won the 400m in a season-best :53.9. Tyler Baird won the 2-mile (11:41) to record his first varsity points.

West Bridgewater sweeps: The Wildcats (5-2) beat Diman, 76.5-59.5, and South Shore Tech, 112-24, as Will DeLuca (200m) and Tommie Perna (triple jump) each set a school record. Sean Carter, Kenly Laime and Nate Anderson swept the shot put, and Achilles Gomes, Sean Carter and George Baroud swept the discus.

Bridgewater-Raynham 78, Brockton 58: The Trojans (3-0) got two wins each from Kauan Bento (100m, 200m), Declan Hetrick (shot put, discus) and Cole Bridges (mile, 2-mile) and single wins from Deshawn Faulk (triple jump), Ronan O'Malley (javelin), Connor Johnson (400m hurdles) and Jack Hannigan (400m). For Brockton, Lucas Andrade won the high jump (6-0) and the 110m high hurdles (:15.7). Matt Turco won the long jump (20-2), and Antonio Tobon won the 800m (2:04.5) and was second in the 400m hurdles (1:02.5).

GIRLS TRACK & FIELD

Stoughton 77, Canton 59: In the loss for Canton, Katie Oliver won the triple jump (34-9) and long jump (16-7) and was second in the 200m (:27.1). Other winners for the Bulldogs: Lianna Camille (400m, 1:03.7); Johanna Bouwmeester (mile, 6:21.4); and Emma Massih (discus, 88-9).

West Bridgewater splits: The Wildcats (3-4) lost to Diman, 69-67, and beat South Shore Tech, 124-6, behind wins from Ella Dunbury (2-mile, 800m), Kerri Gomes (discus), Chidera Agomoh (javelin) and Kylie Lewis (200m) and a 1-2 finish in the mile from Viviana Morales-Wakin and Lilly Andrews.

Marshfield 87, Whitman-Hanson 49: In the road loss, the Panthers (1-2) got wins from Savannah Kamperides (400m hurdles, 1:17.2); Leila Keaney (100m hurdles, :18.64); Ashley Sweeney (javelin, 68-11); Brianna Codio (shot put, 30-10); and Sydney Pires (triple jump, 32-7.5).

Blue Hills splits: The Warriors (5-1) beat South Shore Christian Academy, 113-23, but lost to Southeastern, 81-55. Blue Hills' Angela Rossini broke her own school record in the 2-mile, and the 4x100m relay team of Zuzanna Kaczkowska, Ify Okusanya, Hazyl Almeida and Sanye Campbell broke a 7-year-old school record. Campbell also won the long jump and 200m.

GIRLS GOLF

Quincy/North Quincy 3.5, Cohasset 2.5: Ruby Levine won her match for Q/NQ.

Duxbury 6, Silver Lake 0: The host Dragons got wins from Harper Capilli, Layla Penn, Hannah Stout, Mary Kate Higgins, Caroline Donovan and Hailey Flynn.
