HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Bourne boys lacrosse win season opener with 8 different scorers

The Bourne boys lacrosse team started its season with a 18-1 road win over New Bedford on Friday, and had eight different goal scorers.

Charlie Seitz (two goals, two assists), Ryan Haden (four goals, five assists), Brett Lucier (two goals, four assists), Sean Kelley (two goals; 100% on face-offs), Ty Hawkes (five goals), Brody Haden (one goal, one assist) Drew Kelley (one goals, two assists), Frank Gruel (one goal), and Maximus Ridl (one assists) all contributed on offense for Bourne (1-0). Max Beals have seven saves in goal.

Boys Lacrosse

Monomoy 13, Mashpee 9: The Sharks (3-0) remain unbeaten as they beat the Falcons (0-3). The offense was led by Joey McKeen (thee goals, two assists), Tamer Khalil (three goals, one assist), Jed Zimmerman (two goals, two assists), Christian Whittle (one goal, two assists), Noah Metters (one goal, one assist), Harry Michaud (one goal), Niko Vujosevic (one goal), Braeden Darling (one goal), Jackson Rocco (two assists), and Cole Strzepek (one assist). The defense was led by Jake Giorgio with 18 saves in goal, while Max Barrett, Braeden Darling, Max Ramler, Jackson Morneau, Cole Strzepek, and Emmett Giorgio also contributed.

Girls Lacrosse

Sandwich 11, Nauset 4: In a battle of two unbeaten teams, the Lady Knights (4-0) beat the Warriors (2-1). Avery Cobban (four goals), Quinn Anderson (three goals, one assist), Kyla Darmon (two goals), Kolbie Darmon (goal), and Elisabeth Stutzman (one goal) all contributed on offense for Sandwich. Julia Kipperman scored three goals, while Coral Punch added a goal for Nauset.

Cape Cod Academy 14, Upper Cape 5: The Seahawks (1-0) started their season with a victory over the Rams (1-1). Ella Bartolomei surpassed 400 carrer points, while Willow Ruel and Paige Fowler scored their first high school goals for Cape Cod Academy. Caitlyn Keller and Hannah Davis also played well.

Alaina Hines scored twice, while Jessie Girouard, Caitlin Greeley, and Thea Huapt each had one goal for Upper Cape. Ruth Alexander and Hayley King played well on defense, while Lauren Cox played well offensively in major transitions.

Barnstable 16, Plymouth South 9: The Red Hawks improve to 2-0 on the season. Alyssa McEneaney led the way with five goals, one assist and four ground balls, while Shelby Locascio had four goals, one assist and four ground balls for Barnstable.

Emelie Jonsson (one goal, two assists, 14 draw controls), Claire Kayajan (three goals, one assist), Chloe Egan (one goal, three assists, nine ground balls), Caroline Meins (one goal), Caroline Curley (one goal, one assist), Victoria Dinn (one assist) all contributed on offense, while Morgan Mueller had six saves in goal.

Nantucket 14, St. John Paul II 3: The Whalers moved to 3-0, while the Lions dropped to 2-2. Emerson Pekarcik scored seven goals, while Mayson Lower (two goals; four assists, seven draw controls) and Bailey Lower (two goals, three assists, four draw controls) led the offense for Nantucket. Dylan Damina (two goals), Suz Peraner (one goal), Cydney Mosscrop (two assists), and Evy Stahl (one assist) also contributed on offense. Claire Misurelli had five saves in goal.

New Bedford 17, Bourne 3: The Canalmen fall to 0-2 after a home loss.

Monomoy 16, Mashpee 6: The Sharks (2-1) recorded a win over the Falcons (1-2).

Marshfield 11, Falmouth 10: The Clippers fall to 0-2.

Boys Tennis

Monomoy 4, Cape Cod Academy 1: The Sharks kicked off the season with a win over the Seahawks in the season opener for both teams.

Gavin McDonnell defeated Ayden Naydenov ins second singles (7-5, 6-1), while Roman Pavluchenko (Monomoy) defeated Connor Hall in third singles (6-1, 6-4) for Monomoy. Ethan Seufert and Connor Francis defeated Declan Livingston and Garrett Wilson in first doubles (6-4, 6-7 (4-7) 6-4), and Blake Noonan and Paul Carlson defeated Henry Daigle and Rowan Lewiston in second doubles (6-1, 6-1). Ben Catalans defeated Ryan Casey in first singles (6-3, 6-2) for Cape Cod Academy.

Cohasset 5, Mashpee 0: The Falcons (0-2) were swept at home.

Nauset 5, St. John Paul II 0: The Warriors (3-0) swept the Lions (0-3) on the road.

Girls Tennis

Plymouth South 5, Dennis-Yarmouth 0: The Dolphins (0-1) lost in their season opener.

Cohasset 3, Mashpee 2: The Falcons (1-1) lost their first match of the season. Mariele Henley won first singles (6-2, 6-0 over Liz Blanchard, while Hannah Rogers beat Campbell Scheibel in third singles (6-3, 6-3) for Mashpee.

Monomoy 3, Cape Cod Academy 2: The Sharks (2-0) remain unbeaten as they beat the Seahawks (0-1). Lilly Gould defeated Julia Mccaffery in second singles (6-2, 6-0), Hanadi Rezk beat Jemma Meadows in third singles (6-2, 3-6, 7-5), and Darcy Addison and Sophia Sarabia defeated Megan Morey and Kaleigh Howe in second doubles (6-3, 6-2) for Monomoy.

Lili Shanahan beat Tatiana Malone in first singles (6-1, 6-4), while Molly Lowery and Yoana Dokievci defeated Madison Mahfouz and Karina Khalsa in first doubles (6-3, 2-6, 6-2) for Cape Cod Academy.

Nantucket 3, Sturgis East 2: The Whalers (1-1) recorded their first win of the season as they beat the Storm.

Randolph 3, Sandwich 2: The Blue Knights fall to 0-2.

Baseball

Dennis-Yarmouth 5, Monomoy 4: John Richard drove in Lincoln Slade in the top of the seventh inning that broke a 4-4 tie and gave the Dolphins (1-1) their first win of the season as they beat the Sharks (1-1). Jake Bohlin pitched five innings and Hudson Cambal finished it off on the mound. Cambal and Trey McPherson each had two hits, and Richard had two RBIs and a run for D-Y.

Chace Robbins pitched a complete game and gave up seven hits, five runs (four earned), two walks and struck out three for Monomoy. Trey Nunes was went 2-for-2 with a scored run and an RBI.

Fairhaven 4, St. John Paul II 3: The Lions (0-1) fell short in their season opener. Brian Mancinelli went 2-for-3 with a double, stolen base, and a sacrifice fly, while Tyler Ross and Hunter Alten combined and allowed six hits on the mound for JPII.

Cohasset 2, Mashpee 0: The Falcons (0-1) came up short in their season opener. Mashpee out hit Cohasset, while Andrew Fancher was the only player with multiple hits. Gavin Lakatos, Brody James and Nick Robillard struck out eight combined.

Cape Tech 10, Rising Tide 0: The Crusaders (1-1) picked up their first win of the season. Trevor Ryone struck out nine, and gave up no runs and two hits through five innings on the mound. Mason Tomlinson went 3-for-3 with two RBIs, two runs scored and two stolen bases, while Aidan Choukri was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs, and a run scored.

Norwell 13, Falmouth 2: The Clippers (1-1) lost their first game of the season at home.

Plymouth South 9, Nauset 1: The Warriors (1-1) lost their first game of the season.

Softball

Monomoy 15, Sturgis 3: The Sharks moved to 2-0 on the season. Alana Ljoko was 3-for-5 at the plate and struck out 11 on the mound for Monomoy. Willa Leighton and Lexi Wilson each finished 3-for-5. Elsa Wiesner pitched six innings with 13 strikeouts, while Molly Reino was 2-for-3 ate the plate with two RBIs and a run for Sturgis (0-1).

Cape Tech 13, Rising Tide 0: The Crusaders won their season opener with a shutout win. Megan Bird was the winner on the mound, while Micayla Plante had a bases-loaded double for Cape Tech. Amberlis Hildago had a home run and a double, while Mia Gonsolves and Laura Feliz De Jesus each had two hits.

Falmouth 21, Sandwich 1: The Clippers (1-1) recorded their first win of the season as they beat the Blue Knights (0-2). Rylin Briggs struck out 13 over six innings, and allowed two hits for Falmouth. Kaylee Shaw went 3-for-6 (double, four runs, one RBI), Christina Femino finished 3-for-5 (triple, four runs), and Briggs was 3-for-4 (five runs, two RBIs) for the Clippers offense.

Upper Cape 26, Nauset 5: The Rams (1-1) recorded their first win of the season as they beat the Warriors (0-1). Taysia Lopes' three-run homer and Meadow Deide and Lucy Pesta, who scored four times each, led the offense for the Rams. Taylor Landers had her first varsity start and scored three times as well. Jaelynn Harraden led the defense.

Scituate 26, Barnstable 10: The Red Hawks fall to 0-2.

Boys Volleyball

Barnstable 3, Hingham 0: The Red Hawks (2-1) swept Hingham for their second win of the season. Hunter Parent (15 assists, two kills), Nick Brancaccio (10 kills), Matthew Brancaccio (five kills), Matheus Alvarenga (six kills), and Joao Andrade (three kills) led the offense for Barnstable.

Girls Track and Field

Dennis-Yarmouth 108, Martha's Vineyard 28: Breanna Braham wont the 400 (61.5) and 200 (26.2), and placed in the long jump and triple jump for the Dolphins. Tiana Jacques had two personal best races in the 100m, and also on the winning 4 x100 relay team. Camille Brandt won the high jump and long jump for Martha's Vineyard.

Sandwich 82, Rockland 54: Megan Cheney won the long jump, triple jump and 400m for the Blue Knights. Emma Jakubicka (100 hurdles, 400 hurdles), Sophia Smalley (100m, discus) all were double winners, while Mia Mulcahy (javelin), Maddie Keyes (high jump), Grace Chayna (mile), Ashlyn White (two mile) all were winners for Sandwich.

Boys Track and Field

Sandwich 69, Rockland 66: Adam Ferreira led the way as he won the 100m and javelin for Blue Knights. Becket Laurie (high jump), Matt Bloom (shot put), Jake Whalen (400 hurdles), Gavin Law (discus), Adam Klaiber (400m), and Connor Bruni all were winners for Sandwich.
