HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Clinton picks up eye-popping win in home opener

CLINTON — Clinton football made its home debut a successful one as the Redwolves piled up 431 yards of offense and shut out Blissfield 50-0 in a convincing Lenawee County Athletic Association win.

Jacob Felts had his biggest game of the year with 143 yards on the ground for Clinton (4-1, 3-0 LCAA). He scored a rushing touchdown, as did Joey Preston, Brendon Benschoter, Cole Breitenwischer and Bryce Randolph. Andy Fair threw a touchdown pass to Nik Shadley for the other Clinton score.

The Clinton defense held Blissfield to 31 rushing yards while taking advantage of six Royal turnovers – four fumbles and two interceptions.

Randolph and Preston had interceptions.

Blissfield is 3-2 (2-1 LCAA) on the season.

CHELSEA 28, ADRIAN 18 

CHELSEA — Adrian scored first, but the Bulldogs handed the Maples their first loss of the season.

Henline rushed for 116 yards and a touchdown for Adrian (4-1, 2-1 SEC White). Sean Parker had 153 yards passing and a touchdown pass to Jaden Jankowski.

TECUMSEH 34, PINCKNEY 13

TECUMSEH — Tecumseh scored on its first three possessions and four of its first five possessions and snapped a three-game losing skid.

AJ Bryan had a big night with 217 rushing yards on 19 carries, including an 81-yard touchdown run. He had four rushing touchdowns and also caught a TD pass from Ben Abbott.

Tecumseh had 365 yards of total offense.

Defensively, Tyler Clement and Bryant Batyik had interceptions, and Ryan Barrie tallied 10 tackles.

HUDSON 62, ONSTED 6

HUDSON — The Tigers had their biggest offensive night of the season, piling up 480 yards on the ground.

Brennan Marshall scored on touchdown runs of two and 28 yards. Beckett McCaskey added a 24-yard scoring run. Coy Perry, KJ Walker, Logan Ryan, Cole Marry and Grayson Bills also had touchdown runs for 5-0 (3-0 LCAA) Hudson.

McCaskey finished with 152 yards rushing and Marshall 144.

The Hudson defense had four interceptions. McCaskey and Marshall each had picks while Jacob Pickford and Colt Perry also had one each. Pickford was in on eight tackles.

Onsted is 1-4 on the season and 0-3 in LCAA play.

BRITTON DEERFIELD 44, MORENCI 0

MORENCI — The Bulldogs tried to keep things close early in the Tri-River 8-Man matchup, but the Patriots pulled away in the second half.

Morenci (2-2, 0-2 Tri-River) milked the clock early and put together a couple long drives but were unable to break into the endzone.

The Patriots (2-3, 1-1 Tri-River) have won back-to-back games after starting the season 0-3. BD had five different Patriots cross the goal line with Kaden Freeman scoring twice from three and 35 yards and leading with 106 yard rushing, Caden Kubacki threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Aden Anspach, Keegan Bush threw a 41-yard touchdown pass to Colin Johnson, Kubacki had a 21-yard run for a score and Liam Roe punched one in from 3 yards out.

Alex Anspach played a strong game on defense with an interception while bringing pressure in the Bulldogs' backfield.

ADDISON 38, JONESVILLE 14

JONESVILLE — After a slow start, the Panthers poured it on against Jonesville with a big second half.

The Panthers are 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the Cascades Conference West Division.

LENAWEE CHRISTIAN 49, TEKONSHA 0

TEKONSHA — Lenawee Christian rolled against Tekonsha, posting its first shutout of the season as the Cougars improved to 5-0 and 4-0 in the Southern Michigan 8-Man East Division.

LCS will take on fellow unbeaten Mendon at home next week in a game of two of the top teams in Division 2.

DUNDEE 48, MADISON 28 

DUNDEE — An 80-yard kickoff return in the fourth quarter gave the Trojans hope, but a late touchdown sealed the game for Dundee.

The story of the game was big plays. Dundee opened the game with a 79-yard touchdown pass to Braiden Whitaker and compiled 455 yards on the night. Madison lost four turnovers.

Brian Dopp scored on runs of 20 and 60 yards for Madison, while Bryce Jordan caught a 20-yard TD pass from Dopp.

Dopp led the Trojans (1-4, 1-2 LCAA) with 127 yards rushing and 116 yards passing.

WHITEFORD 48, SAND CREEK 8 

OTTAWA LAKE — The Bobcats scored 20 second quarter points to go up 34-0 at halftime in the Tri-County Conference game.

The Aggies (1-4, 0-1 TCC), playing without leading rusher Ivan Wilkinson, scored on their final possession of the game on a 3-yard run by Caleb Luck.

Aidan Walsh rushed for 47 yards, and Jordan Illenden had 37 yards. Jacob Schamberger, who recovered a fumble, had a great game on the defensive end for Sand Creek, being in on 10 tackles.
