High school football: Check out the MetroWest and Milford Week 5 schedule

The first glimpse of the playoff picture has appeared on the horizon with the release of the MIAA's power rankings. They've shifted in the short time between Friday's initial drop and Tuesday's update.

Lincoln-Sudbury claimed the top spot in Division 1, and the Warriors will visit surging Wayland, which has won three games in a row behind repaired running back Max Dresens.

Two of Division 4's best teams will meet when Holliston visits Norwood.

Westborough is riding a three-game winning streak, while Milford remains the area's lone unbeaten team ahead of its visit to North Attleborough.

Framingham will visit Wellesley on Saturday looking to continue its best start in years.

Thursday, 10/5

HOPKINTON 21, Medfield 14: Junior quarterback Julian Rivard threw touchdown passes to senior wide receiver Christian Pereira and junior wide receiver Nick Pedroli as the host Hillers (4-1) knocked off Tri-Valley League foe Medfield (2-3). Senior linebacker Cooper Fossbender had a 75-yard interception return for a touchdown to get the Hillers on the board in the first quarter, junior linebacker Quinn Keeler had an interception and a fumble recovery and senior defensive back Jakai Bellafatto also had an interception. Additionally, senior linebacker, wide receiver and punter Russell Perryman played well in all three phases of the game.

FRANKLIN 28, Taunton 27: Trailing 27-14 entering the fourth quarter at home, the Panthers (4-1) roared back past the Tigers (2-3), capping the comeback on a 4-yard TD connection between junior quarterback Justin Bianchetto (29-for-50, 279 yards, 2 TDs) and classmate Kyle Walsh (10 receptions, 99 yards, TD) with 0:05 on the clock. The extra point from Arnav Dhulipati clinched the wild Hockomock League affair.

Senior linebacker Cody Howard's third-quarter block of a Taunton extra point attempt proved crucial in the win. Andrew Fraulo ran for two touchdowns and Derek Dubriske had the other TD reception for Franklin, which led 14-7 at halftime before Taunton recorded a 20-point second quarter.

NATICK 35, Newton North 21: Junior Sam Hubbard ran 21 times for 196 yards and scored four touchdowns as the host Redhawks (3-2) won a Bay State Conference battle with the Tigers (1-4). Hubbard also made 13 tackles in the win for Natick, which hosts Brookline next Friday (6 p.m.).

NORWOOD 25, Holliston 24: After leading 24-13 to start the third quarter on a Devin Harding 27-yard TD run, the Panthers (2-3) dropped a tough Tri-Valley League clash at Norwood (4-1). Mustangs quarterback Matty Mahoney scored all four touchdowns for the hosts.

Friday, 10/6

ASHLAND 35, Westwood 15: Sophomore Kevin Ozulumba was everywhere, rushing 21 times for 184 yards and two TDs (plus a two-point conversion) and making 12 tackles (1 for loss) with two interceptions (one for a touchdown) as the Clockers (3-2) earned a Tri-Valley League win at home, snapping a three-game winning streak for the Wolverines (3-2)

ASSABET 44, Worcester Tech 0: Frank Lapriore had 14 carries for 157 yards and two second-quarter touchdowns as the host Aztecs (1-4, 1-0 Colonial) blanked the Eagles (0-5, 0-2). Teammate Noah Sowden rushed 14 times for 109 yards and two TDs, the first and final scores of the game, and C.J. Coelho punched in a 1-yard score in the first quarter. Pedro Silva led the Assabet defense with nine tackles, and Matt Moudarri returned an interception 35 yards for a TD in the second period.

BELLINGHAM 21, Dedham 20: Senior quarterback Dasha Domercant (6-for-9, 186 yards, 2 TDs, rushing TD) threw two long TD passes (61 and 45 yards) to senior wide receiver Anthony DaSilva (3 receptions, 113 yards, 2 TDs) and ran for another as the Blackhawks (2-3) earned a TVL win over the Marauders (3-2). Corey Perkins ran 17 times for 85 yards for the Blackhawks, while Connor Kelley forced a fumble on defense.

BLACKSTONE VALLEY TECH 41, Millbury 7: Alex Burgos threw for 208 yards and three touchdowns and added 103 yards and a score on the ground to pace the visiting Beavers (2-2) past the Woolies (4-1). Valley Tech's Nick Whitlock caught two touchdown passes for a combined 143 yards, and teammate Adam Fransen collected 109 rushing yards and a touchdown while reeling in a TD catch. Dale Boudreau (65-yard TD interception return) and Paul Lacombe (8.5 tackles) led Valley Tech's defense. Millbury's Nathan Kozlowski threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Vaccaro in the fourth quarter.

BLACKSTONE-MILLVILLE/HOPEDALE 56, St. Paul 10: Host BMR/Hopedale (4-1) rolled past St. Paul (0-5) in a non-league game.

DOVER-SHERBORN 40, Medway 33: Senior captain Garrett Webb ran for two TDs and threw for two TDs and added an interception on defense in an all-around performance as the Raiders (2-3) edged the Warriors (0-5). D-S senior captain Chris Kiesling scored two touchdowns and had a two-point conversion.

HUDSON 28, Oakmont 3: Junior Jake Attaway was everywhere, throwing two TDs and running for another and also hauling in two interceptions as the Hawks (3-2) rolled past host Oakmont (2-3) in Ashburnham.

LINCOLN-SUDBURY 27, Wayland 0: Senior quarterback Cooper Tarantino punched in two rushing touchdowns and threw another on a 35-yard toss to classmate Jake Haarde as the L-S (4-1) earned a Dual County win over Wayland (3-2) in a clash of Warriors. Tarantino finished with 85 yards rushing and 103 passing while L-S senior running back Rayhan Nsereko ran for 106 yards.

MARLBOROUGH 30, Fitchburg 0: Miguel Borges rushed 10 times for 114 yards and all four touchdowns, one in each quarter, as the host Panthers (4-1) topped the Red Raiders (0-4). Marlborough's Tyler Moore was in on 12 tackles, four unassisted.

MAYNARD/AMSA 39, Groton-Dunstable 0: Junior Dylan Gallo completed 12 for 14 passes for 194 yards and two touchdowns as the host Tigers (4-1, 2-0 Mid-Wach C) blanked the Crusaders (0-5, 0-2). Gallo also ran for a 16-yard touchdown, the first score of the game, before connecting with Mateo Arellano (8 receptions, 134 yards) and Daniel Terrell for TDs later in the first quarter. Anthony Skillings rushed for scores of 22 and 7 yards in the second quarter, and Tavin Hirsh added a 21-yard score later in the quarter.

MILFORD 33, North Attleborough 14: The Scarlet Hawks improved to 5-0 with a Hockomock League road win over the Rocketeers (2-3).

On the defensive: Milford locking down opponents

NORTON 35, Millis 0: The Mohawks (1-4) fell on the road to the Lancers (5-0).

ROXBURY PREP 14, Keefe Tech 2: Host Roxbury Prep (1-3) upended the Broncos (0-4).

SHEPHERD HILL 20, Algonquin 16: Troy Fernandes scored from 3 yards in the fourth quarter to sent the Rams (3-2) past the visiting Titans (0-5). Teammate Joshua Harrison had two 9-yard rushing touchdowns in the first half, also converting the 2-point conversion after his first score. Liam Cunniffe and Owen Ellsworth rushed for touchdowns for Algonquin.

WEST BRIDGEWATER 40, Tri-County 12: The Cougars (3-2) fell at West Bridgewater (3-2) in a Mayflower League Large matchup.

WESTBOROUGH 35, Nashoba 18: The host Rangers improved to 4-1 in a win over the Wolves (0-5).

Saturday, 10/7

NIPMUC 28, Littleton 14: The host Warriors (4-1) triumphed over the Tigers (2-3) in a non-league matchup at Northbridge Middle School.

WELLESLEY 26, Framingham 7: Senior Henry Redgate (154 total yards, 2 TDs) caught a 32-yard TD pass from sophomore quarterback Bobby Shanahan and ran in a score from 25 yards as the Raiders (2-3, 2-0 Bay State Conference Carey) rolled at home vs. Framingham (3-2, 1-1 BSC Carey). Also for Wellesley, senior Robby Broggi had a 2-yard TD run and his brother, freshman Jake Broggi, had 10 tackles and two interceptions, one he returned for a TD to close the scoring. For the Flyers, senior Yeandiel Cora returned a kick 82 yards for their lone TD.
