Hernandez providing versatility for managers

Christopher Crawford makes the case for why fantasy managers should pick up Boston Red Sox utility player Enrique Hernandez off the waiver wire.

CHRISTOPHER CRAWFORD: Enrique Hernandez's first season in Boston did not get off to a great start. And by not a great start, we're talking about a player that was hitting to 239 with a 692 OPS through the end of May. June saw the former Dodger post an OPS of 754, however, and he's off to a roaring start in July with two homers in his first four games and a 1.207 OPS. Small sample obviously, but there's no denying that the 29-year-old has been swinging and a quality stick since the middle of June. And it's time for fantasy managers to take a closer look.

One thing to like for sure is that Hernandez is currently hitting at the top of the Boston lineup. And that gives him a chance to be driven in by quality hitters like Alex Verdugo, JD Martinez, and Rafael Devers, among others when he's getting on base. Another thing to like here, Hernandez is able to be played not just in the outfield in the [INAUDIBLE] leagues, but also second baseman shortstop. Versatility, matters folks. Hernandez is not an elite option, but it's hard to imagine there are many better players on the waiver right now who can help as much as Hernandez can. And it's always nice to strike when the iron's hot.
