Here's where LSU football stands in the latest AP, coaches polls after Florida State loss

BATON ROUGE — LSU football has fallen to No. 14 in the latest AP and US LBM Coaches polls following its 45-24 loss to Florida State in Orlando on Sunday.

Florida State rose to No. 4 in the AP poll and No. 5 in the coaches poll after taking down LSU for a second consecutive year.

LSU led the Seminoles at halftime, 17-14, but surrendered 31 consecutive points to Florida State to open the second half. Brian Thomas Jr. scored a touchdown late in the fourth quarter to stop the run, but the game was already well out of hand for the Tigers by that point.

The Tigers will try to bounce back from Sunday's ugly defeat when they host Grambling State for their home opener on Saturday (6:30, ESPN+).
