Chandler Hamilton coach Mike Woods has been elected to the National High School Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

Woods has won nine state championships at Hamilton since 2003, including six since 2014. He will receive his Hall of Fame ring during a Dec. 6, 2024 ceremony in Sanibel, Florida.

Woods is the 62nd member of the association's Hall of Fame. He is the only head baseball coach in Hamilton High School's history.

"Obviously, I'm honored," Woods said. "I think it's recognition of our overall program, consisting of our assistant coaches and especially the many talented players we've had over the years.

"Grateful to be at Hamilton at the right time.''

Last season, Hamilton was powered to the title by shortstop Roch Cholowsky, who became the third Hamilton player in the last four years to win the Gatorade Arizona High School Baseball Player of the Year award. He also was named The Arizona Republic's 2023 high school Baseball Player of the Year. He is getting ready for his freshman season at UCLA.

Pitcher Logan Saloman won the Gatorade honor in 2022, and pitcher Brock Selvidge won it in the COVID 2020 year that ended the season in mid-March.

Woods has coached five players who have won the Gatorade award.

He'll be trying to lead the Huskies to their 10th state title in the spring. That would tie them with three other schools for fourth-most state baseball championships in Arizona.
