H.S. ROUNDUP: Tyler Kutil records 100th hit and hits walk-off RBI for Upper Cape baseball

Tyler Kutil did it all for the Upper Cape baseball team's 3-2 win over Old Colony, and reached a career milestone, on Tuesday.

Kutil recorded his 100th hit and broke a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the seventh inning with a two-out RBI single that scored Mitchell Kirkland for the walk-off win for the Rams (13-2).

On the mound, Kutil allowed three hits and one earned run, walked one and struck out seven for Upper Cape, while Devyn Shultze pitched well in relief. Nolan Roche had a big two-out, two-run double.

Baseball

Nauset 10, Wareham 0: The Warriors (10-4) baseball team clinched a spot in the MIAA state tournament as they combined for a no-hitter. James Breda pitched four innings, gave up no hits and struck out four, while Ryan O’Keefe pitched an inning and struck out two for Nauset. Kieran Handville and Paul Alves each had two hits, while Seamus Mahoney had a hit that drove in two runs.

East Bridgewater 6, Mashpee 4: The Falcons (5-7) fell short as they gave up four earned runs, and two in the eighth inning. Brody James, Michael McGrail, and Gavin Lakatos had two hits each for Mashpee.

Cape Tech 11, Norfolk Aggie 0: The Crusaders (7-6) have won four of their last five games.

Softball

Norfolk Aggie 32, Cape Tech 4: Amberlis Hildago and Addy Burlingame each had two hits, while Micaela Plante had an RBI single for the Crusaders (2-8).

Monomoy 10, Bourne 4: The Sharks (11-1) pushed their win streak to eight straight as they beat the Lady Canalmen (5-7). AJ Gates (three RBIs, two runs), Kate Huse (two RBIs, two runs), and Willa Leighton (one RBI, one run) each had two hits for Monomoy.

Olivia Meda (one RBI) had three hits, while Jill Allen (two runs), Michaela Muldoon (two RBIs) and Jadyn Morrell (one RBI) each had two hits for Bourne.

Old Colony 13, Upper Cape 12: The Rams (5-6) led early on offense, led by Ivey Patton-Salsman, who had 2 big, timely hits. On defense, Jaelynn Harraden played well in center field with multiple catches, while Lucy Pesta played well at third base, and Taysia Lopes pitched well for upper Cape.

Boys Lacrosse

Monomoy 18, Dennis-Yarmouth 3: The Sharks (10-2) have won three of the last four as they beat Dolphins (2-7). The Sharks' offense was led by Tamer Khalil (six goals, five assists) and Jackson Rocco (four goals, two assists) for Monomoy.

Jed Zimmerman (three goals), Aidan Stone (two goals, one assist), Joey McKeen (one goal, three assists), Noah Metters (one goal, two assists), Max Barrett (one goal), Dillon Chapman (two assists), Brodie LaValley (one assist), Izaiah Freeman (one assist), Owen Ramler (one assist), and Braeden Darling (one assist) also contributed on offense.

The Sharks defense was led by Max Barrett, Braeden Darling, Max Ramler, Jackson Morneau, and Cole Strzepek, while Charlie Hamilton had a 62% faceoff win rate and Jake Giorgio and Harrison Beaumont had a total of seven saves.

Cape Cod Academy 15, St. John Paul II 12: The Seahawks (7-2) have won seven of their last games as they beat the Lions (6-6) for the second time this season. Landon O'Neil scored his 100th goal and finished with seven goals and five assists, while Tripp Germani had four goals in the first quarter for Cape Cod Academy.

Nantucket 11, Barnstable 4: Colton Chambers and Paddy Carroll each scored three goals and handed out one assist for the Whalers (9-1) win over the Red Hawks (3-10). Nolan Mosscrop (two goals, two assists), Colby O'Keefe (one goal, one assists), Jack Halik (one goal, two assists), Ryan Davis (one goal) all contributed on offense for Nantucket. Doug Carr led the Red Hawks with two goals and two assists, while Ryan O’Donnell and Ryan Woeller each scored a goal for Barnstable.

Girls Lacrosse

St. John Paul II 15, Martha’s Vineyard 7: The Lions (9-4) won their sixth straight as they beat the Vineyarders (4-6). Katelyn Lawson (four goals, one assist), Mia Curley (four goals), Emma Tucker (three goals, one assist), Akira Umbrello (two goals, one assist), Charlotte Sturgis (one goal, one assist), and Sophie  Philbrick (one goal, one assist) led the offense for JPII.

Falmouth Academy 9, Sturgis West 4: The Mariners (4-5) defeated the Navigators (2-5) in back-to-back games. Faye McGuire (five goals, one assist, one draw control), Lexi Kalkanis (two goals) Natalie Hurlbut (one goal, one assist, two draws) Amelia Russell Schaefer one goal, two assists), and Susanna Lowell (one draw) led the offense, while Willow Wakefield had seven saves in goal for Falmouth Academy.

Cape Cod Academy 17, Nauset 13: The Seahawks (7-3) have won four of their last five games as they beat the Warriors (7-5).

Julia Kipperman led with seven goals, while Zoe Labdon (four goals), and Sienna Reeves (two goals) contributed on offense. for Nauset. Sophia Boucher and Norah Swanson split time in goal.

Nantucket 21, Barnstable 8: Bailey Lower (six goals, seven assists, 17 draw controls), and Emerson Pekarcik (six goals, four assists, two draw control) led the Whalers (12-0) to stay unbeaten. Mayson Lower (three goals, two draw controls), Cydney Mosscrop (two goals, three assists), Dylan Damian (two goals), Suz Peraner (one goal), and Carly Ray (one goal) also chipped in on offense for Nantucket.

Alyssa McEneaney (three goals, one assist), Emelie Jonsson (three goals), Shelby Locascio (two goals, one assist), Chloe Egan (two assists) led the offense, while Morgan Mueller had eight saves in goal for Barnstable.

Monomoy 17, Dennis-Yarmouth 9: The Sharks (7-5) have won three straight as they beat the Dolphins (4-6).

Sturgis East 11, Bristol Aggie 1: The Storm (1-8) picked up their first win of the season as they snapped a eight-game slide.

Notre Dame Academy-Hin 18, Falmouth 0: The Clippers (6-7) were shutout for the first time this season.

Boys Tennis

Falmouth 4, Sandwich 1: The Clippers (5-6) picked up a home win over the Blue Knights (4-5). Quintin Hefferan beat Kallen Kestenbaum in second singles (6-2, 6-2), while Jack Beardsley defeated Quinn Johnston in third singles (6-1, 6-2) for Falmouth. Sam Collins and Jacob Faidell defeated Joey LaScola and Liam McLaughlin in first doubles (6-4, 6-0), while Sebastian Verslycke and Henry Stoermer beat Finn Whelden and Oakley Gully. Andrew Emmel defeated Thomas Ghossein in first singles (6-1, 6-0) for Sandwich.

Dennis-Yarmouth 5, St. John Paul II 0: The Dolphins (3-8) snapped a seven match slide with a sweep over the Lions (1-12). Collin Caron defeated Ben Kowal in first singles (6-0, 6-0), Landon Richter beat Zach Jones in second singles (6-0, 6-0), and Michael O'Reilly and Oscar Turek won first doubles (6-0, 6-1) over Michael Maynard and Will Sutton for D-Y. The Dolphins won third singles and second doubles by forfeit.

Bourne 3, Case 2: The Canalmen (4-7) broke a four match slide with the road win.

Girls Tennis

Bourne 3, Case 2: The Lady Canalmen (6-4) have won three of their last four matches. Zoe Ridl won first singles (6-3, 5-7, 6-1) over Emily Levine, McKinley Wenzel beat Karina Bogdan in second singles (6-0, 6-1), and Anna Conlon defeated Lindsey Simcock in third singles (6-0, 6-1) for Bourne.

Mashpee 4, East Bridgewater 1: The Falcons (6-7) snapped a three match losing streak with a road win. Mariele Henley won first singles (6-0, 6-3) over Ella Rix, Hannah Rogers defeated Olivia Connors in second singles (6-0, 6-2), and Hayden Shvonski beat Haylie McPartlin in third singles (6-2, 6-2) for Mashpee.

Alina Dion and Grace Dion beat Ava Pino and Chloe Wiger in first doubles (6-1, 6-4), while Emily Doolan and Addison Woods defeated Sophie Sheehan and Tatum Hensen in second doubles (7-6 (7-4), 6-4).

Falmouth 5, Sandwich 0: The Clippers (4-7) have won two of their last three matches as they beat the Lady Knights (2-10)

St. John Paul II 5, Sturgis West 0: The Lions (13-0) remain unbeaten with their 13th straight win.

Girls Golf

Monomoy 6, Dennis-Yarmouth 0: The Sharks (10-1) bounced back from their first loss of the season with a win over the Dolphins (1-8) at Cranberry Valley. Ava Packett (4&2), Yu Ying Zou (4&3), Ava LaRocco (5&4), Emily Layton (5&4), Georgia Storey (5&3), and Sally Watson (5&3) each scored a point for Monomoy.

Nauset at Falmouth, 3:30 p.m.

Sailing

Falmouth/Falmouth Academy 3, Barnstable 0: The Falmouth team moved to 6-2 overall and 6-2 in the Cape and Islands League with a win on Lewis Bay. Falmouth boats were skipper Gus McGuire and crew Lilly Karl, skipper Marcus Greco and crew Willow Lajoie, and skipper Kaiden Holt and crew Maisie Chase.  Falmouth won all three varsity races with a 1-2-5, 1-2-6, and 1-2.

Cape Cod Academy 4, Nauset 1: The Seahawks picked up the win over the Warriors.

Sturgis East 3, Nantucket 2: The Storm sailed to a win over the Whalers.
