Guardians have a rough day against Rangers in a 13-4 loss

Feb. 26—The Guardians' pitching staff got roughed up by the Rangers in a spring training game on Feb. 26.

Texas batters hammered out 15 hits, including a pair of home runs, in a 13-4 win over Cleveland in Goodyear, Ariz.

Zach Plesac, hoping to right the ship after a subpar 2022 season, gave up five runs (four earned) in 1 2/3 innings. James Karinchak gave up two and Sam Hentges one, but the game was put out of reach in the ninth when Caleb Simpson gave up five runs in his first outing of the spring.

The Guardians (0-2 so far this spring) got home runs from Angel Martinez and Micah Pries as part of a nine-hit attack. Jose Tena and Richard Palacios each had two hits for Cleveland.

The Guardians will face the Cubs on Feb. 27, with Shane Bieber going for Cleveland and Jameson Taillon for the Cubs.
