Grizzlies at Rockets (Oct. 21): Prediction, point spread, odds, best bet

In the first game at Toyota Center of the NBA’s 2022-23 regular season, the Houston Rockets host the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday night. If you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, money line odds and over/under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet at BetMGM.

The game starts at 7:00 p.m. Central and can be seen via AT&T SportsNet Southwest (in Houston markets) or on NBA League Pass.

The Rockets (0-1) were quite competitive in Wednesday’s opener in Atlanta, but it wasn’t quite enough to get a road win. So, could the backing of tens of thousands of home fans put them over the top? We’ll find out when Ja Morant leads his Grizzlies into town to face Jalen Green, Kevin Porter Jr., and the rest of the young Rockets.

As usual, Memphis is projected by most to be a Western Conference contender, whereas the rebuilding Rockets are again forecast by most observers to rank near the bottom. But when Green broke out late in his rookie season of 2021-22, one of his statement games — and perhaps the most impressive one for the Rockets as a team — came in a victory over Morant and the Grizzlies at home.

Can lightning strike twice? Stay tuned.

Advice and prediction

The Rockets were poor shooting luck from easily covering in Atlanta, and the Grizzlies are without multiple rotation players due to injury. We’ll take Houston to keep it close at home.
