Greetings from Asbury Park: Greg Schiano sends message to the Brick City Lions

Even on a Friday night when down the shore, Greg Schiano doesn’t stop chopping.

The Rutgers football coach, with the Jersey shore as his backdrop, gave a social media shoutout to the Brick City Lions. The Newark-based Pop Warner program is going off to play some games throughout the country and Schiano gave them a message of encouragement.

Schiano, citing Asbury Park as his location, used the local setting to remind the Brick City program that they are carrying the reputation of New Jersey football into these upcoming games:

Brick City Lions, hey this is Greg Schiano, head football coach, Rutgers University. I know you’re going down to Georgia and out to California to represent this great state. I’m standing here in Asbury Park, ocean behind me. That’s what you got to go represent. Rutgers. New Jersey. Brick City Lions. CHOP.

Then, Schiano made his infamous chopping motion as the video closed out.

Rutgers football is set to enter its third season of a substantial rebuild under Schiano. The Scarlet Knights are hoping for the rising and return of the program to its glory days.
