Good Morning, Illini Nation: Reunion weekend

Dec. 16—Welcome to "Good Morning, Illini Nation," your daily dose of college basketball news from Illini beat writer and AP Top 25 voter Scott Richey. He'll offer up insights every morning on Brad Underwood's team:

The 1983-84 Illinois basketball team will be recognized during Sunday's game against Colgate at State Farm Center. Those Illini finished 26-5, won a Big Ten title and made it to the Elite Eight where they lost to Kentucky ... at Rupp Arena in a 54-51 game where playing on the Wildcats' home floor probably was a disadvantage.

A few players from that team are expected to be in town Sunday. An early list included Doug Altenberger (who will be on the radio call for the game), Tony Wysinger, Don Klusendorf, Dragomir Marinkovich and Joe Klauke. Other former Illini of note expected to be in attendance include Deon Thomas, Tom Michael, Shaun Pruitt, Trent Meacham, Calvin Brock, Bill Small and T.J. Wheeler.

Their weekend will include a get together today, access to Sunday's shootaround, an Ubben Basketball Complex tour before the game and another gathering after the game.
