Greater Middlesex Conference

South Plainfield 3, Old Bridge 2

Dom Massaro ripped a walk-off hit that scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh as South Plainfield earned the Red Division win.

The freshman continued his strong rookie season by going 2-for-4 as the Tigers (5-8, 4-6) took the series split with the Knights (11-4, 6-4). Old Bridge and Monroe are 6-4 in the division – they have a series coming up – and North Brunswick is at 6-3.

Aldo Pigna kept South Plainfield in the game by firing six good innings allowing two runs with five strikeouts. Chase Donovan pitched a scoreless seventh, working around two hits.

Jay Alvarez and Brandon Bickunas (run) each went 2-for-3 and Joe Moroney walked and scored.

Justin Meyer gave Old Bridge a strong start by allowing two runs (1 ER) in six innings. Frank Papeo went 2-for-4 (double) and Evan Smith doubled and had two RBI. Mike Villani (double) and Kyle McSorley each had a hit and scored. Justin Meyer and John Smith each had a hit for the Knights.

Metuchen 4, North Plainfield 2

Daniel Cordes had a big day going the distance allowing an earned run with five strikeouts and went 2-for-3 with an RBI as Metuchen picked up the Blue Division win.

The visiting Bulldogs (3-8, 2-7) scored all four runs in the first inning and Cordes did the rest. North Plainfield (1-11, 0-11) put up two runs in the third inning.

Lucas Weiss (RBI, run), Nicholas Calantoni (run) and Max Cohn each had a hit and Simon Rosal walked and scored in the win.

Davyn Ciriaco went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored and Tommy Zotollo also drove in a run. Joan Herrera went 2-for-3 for the Canucks.

Union County

Plainfield 13, Piscataway Magnet 0

Nasir Powell threw a three-hit shutout with eight strikeouts in the five-inning game as Plainfield earned the non-conference win.

The visiting Cardinals (4-8) got 12 hits with four players having multi-hit games. Andrew Cabrera (double, 2 runs), John Inoa (2 runs, RBI), Edward Ramirez (2 RBI, run) and Dinelson Dominguez-Morel (run) each had two hits.

Powell also singled and drove in a run and Steven Francisco doubled and had an RBI. O'Darren Drakeford (double, RBI), Mekhi Richards (RBI) and Ben La Paz (double, RBI, 2 runs) each had a hit in the win. Evan LaQuer-Egerton scored twice.

Scotch Plains-Fanwood 6, Union 4

Anthony Malta went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI as Scotch Plains-Fanwood earned the Watchung Division win.

The Raiders (7-7, 4-4) scored three times in the bottom of the sixth to pull out the victory.

Jack Sponheimer went 2-for-3 with three RBI and scored and Ryan Quinones (run), Chris Kennedy (run) and Sean Ferrone each had a hit.

Scotch Plains-Fanwood 6, Union 4

Anthony Malta went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI as Scotch Plains-Fanwood earned the Watchung Division win.

The Raiders (7-7, 4-4) scored three times in the bottom of the sixth to pull out the victory.

Jack Sponheimer went 2-for-3 with three RBI and scored and Ryan Quinones (run), Chris Kennedy (run) and Sean Ferrone each had a hit.

Thursday, April 27

Greater Middlesex Conference

Edison 2, Woodbridge 0

Edison got yet another great pitching performance to take the opening game in a key White Division series.

Paul di Pasquale struck out 10 in 6 1/3 innings allowing just three hits and three walks and Robert Roma struck out both batters he faced to end the game.

The Eagles (11-3, 8-3) meet Woodbridge (9-4, 6-3) again on Saturday. Sayreville sits atop the division with an 8-2 record.

Jaxon Appelman went 2-for-3 and DiCarlo had a hit and Anthony Calantoni drove in a run.

Woodbridge pitcher Eddy Nunez was also outstanding, allowing two runs (1 ER) with 11 strikeouts and just three hits and two walks.

St. Joseph 2, South Brunswick 1

Matthew Friedman threw a one-hitter in six innings allowing a run walked five as the Falcons got a key Red Division win.

St. Joseph (6-6, 5-4) is a game back in the division behind North Brunswick and Old Bridge, who are both 6-3.

Friedman struck out four and Bryan Rios finished with a scoreless inning and two strikeouts. Joseph Zammitti went 2-for-2 and drove in both runs, scoring Jaden Jamison and Matthew Kosuda. Mark Gialluisi and Bobby Christensen had a hit apiece.

Ryan Kessler got a hit and scored for South Brunswick (5-8, 3-6).

Old Bridge 8, South Plainfield 3

Kyle McSorley homered and drove in three runs and Justin Hascup delivered a strong start as Old Bridge remains atop the Red Division standings along with North Brunswick.

The Knights (11-3, 6-3) led 3-2 and sealed the win with five runs in the bottom of the sixth. Hascup allowed two earned runs in 6 1/3 innings with three strikeouts. Evan Smith finished the game.

Mike Villani doubled twice with an RBI and scored and Thomas Papeo went 2-for-3 (3 runs, RBI). Having a hit apiece were John Smith (RBI, run), Evan Smith (RBI), Shaun Bogda (run) and Akhil Penkala (run). Frank Papeo also drove in a run.

For South Plainfield (4-8, 3-6), Brandon Bickunas went 2-for-4 and Jayden Alvarez and Dom Massaro each singled with an RBI. Dan Kapsch, Ashton Donovan and Kevin Penny each had a hit.

Colonia 1, J.P. Stevens 0

Dylan Conklin outdueled Matthew Jason in a classic pitching duel and Colonia scored in the second inning for the White Division win.

The Patriots (6-7, 4-5) had hits from Conklin and Jeff Trinca and Luke Celebrano scored.

Conklin threw a three-hitter with no walks and seven strikeouts for the win.

Jason was nearly as good allowing just a run on two hits and a walk with eight strikeouts. He also doubled and Tanush Ashok and John Papaianni each had a hit.

Spotswood 1, South River 0

Senior righty Jackson Walsh prevailed in a pitching duel and Spotswood scored in the top of the seventh to get the key Blue Division win.

The Chargers (11-2, 8-0) remained atop of the division standings as the Rams fell to 7-3 in the division and overall. St. Thomas Aquinas and J.F. Kennedy are both 6-2 in the division.

Walsh allowed just one hit with three walks and four strikeouts in the win. South River’s James Zsorey allowed five hits and three walks with two strikeouts.

Casey Cumiskey went 2-for-3 in the win and Dylan Kartelias (run), Breckyn DeAngelis and John Lubin each had a hit.

Matthew Marques had the hit for the Rams.

J.F. Kennedy 11, Piscataway 1

RJ Coleman delivered a gem in not allowing an earned run in six innings off of three hits and two walks with seven strikeouts in the Blue Division win.

The host Mustangs (7-5, 6-2) led 6-0 after three innings and sealed it five runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Marcus Bullock went 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored. Gabriel Perez doubled driving in a run and Justin Rodriguez (2 runs), Chazz Ruiz and Zach Tyler (RBI, run) each had a hit with an RBI. RJ Coleman also had a hit with an RBI and Braden Mellage had an RBI.

For the Chiefs (4-9, 2-6), Jaden Peace went 2-for-3 and scored and Michael Wojcik singled and had an RBI.

St. Thomas Aquinas 8, North Plainfield 3

Artis Ray continued his strong season by going 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs as St. Thomas Aquinas (10-3, 6-2) earned the Blue Division win.

Jon Misura picked up the win out of the bullpen for the Trojans by hurling three shutout innings and allowing two hits with four strikeouts.

Ricky Del Rio, Zachary Diaz and Jack Valenzuela each added RBI off base hits in the win.

Tommy Zotollo and Bennie Sokolwski drove in runs for North Plainfield (1-10, 0-10).

Sayreville 7, Metuchen 4

Jake Romanello went 3-for-4 with an RBI and run and Aayush Mehta delivered a good start as Sayreville on the divisional crossover game.

Tied 4-4, the Bombers (10-3) scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth for the win. James Kehoe pitched two shutout innings to earn the victory.

Mehta allowed four unearned runs in five innings with seven strikeouts. He also singled with an RBI. Aidan Crimmins (RBI, run) and Jaydon Stio each went 2-for-3 (run). Michael Colonnello (run), Michael Novak (triple, run), Thomas Schlaline (RBI) and AJ Zapoticzny (RBI, run) each had a hit.

For Metuchen (2-8), Daniel Cordes, Lucas Malamug (RBI) and Marcus Malamug (RBI) each had two hits and Nicholas Calanton singled and drove in a run.

Middlesex 4, Perth Amboy 1

Chris Kozak went the distance and Tomas Lavornia was 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI as Middlesex got the White Division win.

The host Blue Jays (7-5, 5-4) scored in the bottom of the first and second and twice in the third inning. ,

Kozak didn’t allow an earned run and gave up five hits and two walks with seven strikeouts in the victory. He also went 2-for-2 at the plate. Aidan Kozak went 2-for-3 and scored twice and Jack Adamski had a hit. Owen Reynolds was hit by a pitch and scored.

For the Panthers (0-12), Sebastian Aponte, Armando Lagomarsini (run), Jose Neris, Edgar Deleon and Yendy Tomas each had a hit.

Plainfield 10, Highland Park 5

Owen Roth-Zappo went 2-for-4 with two RBI as Highland Park (4-7) dropped the non-conference game. Connor Roth-Zappo also singled with an RBI, while Aidan O'Connell and Luca Sheldon each singled and scored twice.

Skyland Conference

Somerset County Tournament Semifinals

No. 2 Ridge 6, No. 6 Pingry 2

No. 12 Rutgers Prep 4, No. 1 Bridgewater-Raritan 3

Rutgers Prep continued its hot stretch with another upset to get back to the SCT final in a rematch against second-seeded Ridge.

The Argonauts (6-7) upset No. 4 Somerville in the quarterfinals and No. 5 Franklin in the second round to advance.

Thursday, Zach Fronio allowed three runs in five innings with five strikeouts for the win. Joey Dwek finished with two scoreless innings. Rutgers Prep scored twice in the top of the first and added two more in the second.

The Panthers (11-2) rallied with three runs in the bottom of the fifth but couldn’t get closer.

Evan Laub went 2-for-2 with two walks and scored, while Ethan Nepomuceno singled, walked, scored twice and had an RBI. Maddox Chu singled and had an RBI and Fronio drove in a run. Li Perez and Cody Rullo each singled and James Jackman walked twice and scored.

For Bridgewater-Raritan, Matt Moore homered and had two RBI and Matthew Fattore was 3-for-4 with an RBI, while Joe Letko singled and scored.

Regular Season

Hunterdon Central 8, Immaculata 2

Mike Contiliano went 4-for-4 with three RBI and a walk as Hunterdon Central earned the Delaware Division win.

The visiting Red Devils (7-4, 5-3) trailed 2-0, but scored three times in the fourth to take the lead and added a run in the fifth, three more in the sixth and another in the seventh.

Andrew Nguyen finished 3-for-5 (double, RBI, 2 runs) and Jimmie Lundari went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run.

Luke Breuer drove in a run and Joe Kozak, Noah Baird (run) and Tyler Stallwood (run) each had a hit in the win.

Jayson Labrador went 2-for-4 with two RBI for Immaculata (2-9, 1-7).

Hillsborough 4, Watchung Hills 2

Graham Ross allowed two unearned runs in six innings with five strikeouts and Hillsborough scored five times in the bottom of the third for the Delaware Division win.

Matt Westcott homered for the Raiders (5-8, 3-4) with three RBI and Liam Gallagher went 2-for-3 and scored. Avery Whitney (run), Nolan Collison and Shailen Patel each had a hit in the win.

Trenon Standard drive in Jason Wu (single) for the Warriors (4-8, 2-6) and Ethan Byrd and Martin Howell each singled.

North Hunterdon 2, Somerville 1

Eddie Appollina drove in two runs in the bottom of the first for all of North Hunterdon’s runs in a key Raritan Division win.

The Lions (9-2, 6-1) remained on top of the division standings as Somerville fell to 5-2 in the division and 6-5 overall. Montgomery is also 5-2 in the division.

Brandon Suler allowed one run in 4 2/3 innings for the win on just one hit and one walk with four strikeouts. Ben Linzer pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings with three strikeouts to end the game. Alex Famolari, Nick Hernandez and Alex Turner each singled in the win.

Ty Akins hit a solo homer for Somerville and CJ Banos and Chase Koplitz each went 2-for-3.

Voorhees 3, Warren Hills 2

Ray Schiavo went 2-for-3 with an RBI as Voorhees lost in eight innings in the Valley Division game. Voorhees (5-6, 4-2) also got hits from Bryen Flaherty (run) and Jeff

Manville 5, Belvidere 1

James Mascola went the distance with 12 strikeouts and allowed five hits and a walk as Manville earned the Mountain Division win.

Mascola was also 2-for-4 with three RBI for the Mustangs (8-4, 4-2) and Nick Bentz went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Sebastian Carvajal finished 2-for-3 and Tyler Canica was 2-for-4. Joshua Barrios also drove in a run.

Wednesday, April 26

Greater Middlesex Conference

Edison 12, Piscataway 4

Edison head Coach Vinnie Abene became the program’s all-time wins leader after the Eagles’ victory against Piscataway.

Abene earned his 276th career win during his 21 seasons as Edison’s head coach to surpass Jim Muldowney.

Edison (10-3) is on a four-game win streak. Wednesday, sophomore Declan DiCarlo gave Edison a lift with a complete game and 12 strikeouts, allowing four hits and only one earned run.

Dicarlo added two hits and two RBI as did Jaxon Appelman. Dom Innocenti went 2-for-4 (RBI) and Jordan Martins also drove in a run. Adding hits were Charlie Taub, Robert Roma and Matt Yascko Jr. For Piscataway (4-8), Jaden Peace went 2-for-4 (run) and Elijah Suarez and Michael Wojcik each singled and drove in a run.

Dunellen 12, Piscataway Magnet 2

Jacob Manna went the distance allowing two earned runs on two hits and two walks with 13 strikeouts as Dunellen got a key Silver Division win.

The Destroyers (7-3, 7-1) split the series with Piscataway Magnet (7-2, 7-1), which won 6-5 on Monday. The teams sit atop the division standings.

Tied 1-1 after the first inning, Dunellen scored four runs in the top of the third and added two more in the sixth.

Ryan Hutchins had a huge game offensively in the win going 3-for-5 with four RBI and scored twice. Manna and Mark Stein each drove in a run in the win. Myles Harrada singled and scored three times and Corbin Evans also scored three runs.

Highland Park 14, Perth Amboy Magnet 4

Seamus MacKinnon (run) and Luca Sheldon (2 BB, 3 runs) each had two hits and drove in three runs as the Owls gained the Silver Division win.

Highland Park (4-6, 3-4) trailed 4-2 entering the bottom of the fifth, but erupted with 12 runs for the big win.

Aidan O'Connell (3 runs) and Owen Roth-Zappo (2 RBI, run) added two hits apiece. Additionally, David Cenci (double, 3 RBI, 2 runs) and Daniel Sanchez (run) each had a hit and Saul Salas drove in a run.

Sheldon went the distance and allowed four runs off of six hits and a walk with nine strikeouts.

Jerry Rodriguez went 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored for Perth Amboy Magnet (2-8-1, 2-5-1). Having a hit apiece were Nelson Concepcion (double, RBI, run), Isaiah Nieves (run), Edwin Ortega (RBI, run) and Zachary Lenardo (RBI).

St. Thomas Aquinas 5, Manville 1

Freshman Louis Rizzolo picked up his first varsity win on the mound by hurling six innings of one-hit ball with 10 strikeouts as St. Thomas Aquinas earned the non-conference win at TD Bank Ballpark.

Jon Misura worked the seventh inning striking out two for the Trojans (9-3).

Artis Ray was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI, while Junior Zachary Diaz went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI in the win. Ricky Del Rio and Gavin Sansone each added a run-scoring single.

For Manville (7-4), Geoffrey Mathis had his team’s hit and drove in Tyler Canica.

South Amboy 14, Timothy Christian 4

Gabriel Albarran and Steven Evanski (double) each drove in three runs and South Amboy claimed the Gold Division win.

The host Governors (7-3, 5-3) scored five times in the bottom of the second to take a 6-0 lead.

Diego Colon singled and walked twice and drove in two runs and Benjamin Hernandez went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Also having a hit were Weslyn Sanchez (triple, RBI), Benjamin Smith (2 runs) and Daniel Evanski. Additionally, Jeremy Vasquez and Nigel Johnson each scored twice and Giro Castaldo crossed home three times.

Matthew Stempinski earned the win on the mound by going three innings.

Joshua Thiero singled and had two RBI for Timothy Christian (1-8, 1-7) and Dylan Spivey also drove in a run. Jude Chaplin and Jimmy Mclaughlin each had a hit and scored.

Highland Park 14, Perth Amboy Magnet 4

Seamus MacKinnon (run) and Luca Sheldon (2 BB, 3 runs) each had two hits and drove in three runs as the Owls gained the Silver Division win.

Governor Livingston 6, Union 1

George Provel’s two-RBI single on a 2-0 count in the fifth inning broke a 1-1 tie and Governor Livingston gained the Watchung Division win.

Anthony DeNora allowed an unearned run in six innings and allowed just one hit, two walks and a hit batter with four strikeouts. Michael Novotny struck out the side in a relief inning.

Two players hit home runs for the Highlanders (9-3, 4-2). John Schmidt hit the long ball in the fifth inning and Matt Diskin homered in the fifth. Dominic Labisi and Michael Basile also had a hit in the win.

Scotch Plains-Fanwood 3, Johnson 2

CJ Bates went the distance scattering seven hits and two walks with two strikeouts as Scotch Plains-Fanwood earned the Watchung Division win.

The host Raiders (6-7, 3-4) scored twice in the first inning and another run an inning later.

Anthony Malta (double) and Jack Sponheimer each went 2-for-4 and scored in the win. Matt Greisman drove in a run. Jaden Carpien and Sean Ferrone each had a hit.

Cranford 3, Westfield 0

Tomas Cestero allowed one run in 6 2/3 innings with 11 strikeouts as Westfield (7-5, 4-2) lost the Watchung Division game. Union (6-7, 1-5) scored all three runs in the top of the seventh.

Skyland Conference

Somerset County Tournament

No. 6 Pingry 4, No. 3 Montgomery 1

No. 1 Bridgewater-Raritan 5, No. 9 Immaculata 0

It’s hard to score when the opposing pitchers are clicking.

Noah Matheson threw four no-hit innings and James Turchi singled and drove in two runs as top-seeded Bridgewater-Raritan allowed one hit to advance to Thursday’s semifinals.

The Panthers (11-1) will play 12th-seeded Rutgers Prep in Thursday’s semifinal.

Matheson, who missed all of last season to a knee injury, walked just one hitter with a strikeout. Cory Rible threw two perfect innings save for a hit batter with three strikeouts. Matthew Fattore allowed a hit in a scoreless inning.

Michael Fattore singled and had an RBI and Matthew Fattore also had a hit and scored. Joe Letko, Ethan Leon, Jacob Rosado and Matheso each had a hit in the win.

Colin Kassai singled for the lone hit for ninth-seeded Immaculata (2-7).

No. 12 Rutgers Prep 3, No. 4 Somerville 2

Rutgers Prep is getting hot at the right time.

The 12th-seeded Argonauts advanced to Thursday’s semifinals with the win over fourth-seeded Somerville behind Max Treonze’s great outing.

The senior right-hander pitched a complete game five-hitter with nine strikeouts and also doubled.

Rutgers Prep (5-7) will meet top-seeded Bridgewater-Raritan in Thursday’s semifinal. They advanced by upsetting fifth-seeded Franklin 5-4 in Saturday's second round game.

Andrew Parisi was 3-for-3 with two RBI and Maddox Chu had a RBI single in the win. Additionally, Ethan Nepomuceno was 1-for-2 and scored twice. Li Perez also singled and scored.

In the first inning, Parisi’s double scored Nepomuceno for the 1-0 lead. Somerville tied it 1-1 in the second as Karson Wengryn’s single drove in Chase Wengryn.

Rutgers Prep took a 3-1 lead in the fifth inning as Parisi’s singled scored Perez and Chu’s single brought home Nepomuceno.

Somerville got a run back when Robby Wright crossed home on a passed ball. The Pioneers (6-4) couldn’t get any closer.

Wright finished 2-for-4 and Ty Akins and CJ Banos each had a hit for Somerville.

No. 2 Ridge 1, No. 10 Bernards 0

You can’t beat perfection.

Connor Byrne was unhittable in a perfect game with seven strikeouts to prevail in a pitcher’s duel. The Red Devils (9-2) will play sixth-seeded Pingry in Thursday’s semifinals.

Byrne, a senior righty who has allowed one ER in 30 2/3 innings this season, was needed with Bernards’ Evan Hoeckele nearly matching him in going the distance with nine strikeouts on a four-hitter.

Brendan Callanan’s solo home run in the fourth inning was the difference for Ridge. Byrne (double), Nick Sellitti and Luke Somelofske (double) also had hits.

Regular season

Franklin 5, Phillipsburg 3

Eric Pydeski had three hits (double, RBI, run) and Franklin scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to pull out the win over the Raritan Division win.

Veer Singh went 2-for-3 (RBI, run) for the Warriors (6-6, 3-4) and Myles Castillo and Ryan Piro each had a double and scored.

Ryan Mrotek allowed three runs in five innings with four strikeouts and Sohan Patel finished with two shutout innings.

Delaware Valley 13, South Hunterdon 3

Anthony Saniscalchi had two doubles with three RBI and Stoy Fohring went 3-for-4 with more RBI as Delaware Valley broke open the Mountain Division game late.

The host Terriers (6-5, 5-1) led 4-3, but erupted for nine runs in the sixth inning to end the game.

Danny Shaprio (2 RBI, run) and Cooper Fransen (RBI, 3 runs) each finished 2-for-4. Jack Reardon (RBI, 2 runs), Michael Kelly (2 RBI, run), John Croasdale (run) and Jared Leeds (run) each had a hit in the win. Kevin Hults walked twice and scored.

Reardon earned the win by allowing two earned runs in the six innings with seven strikeouts.

For South Hunterdon (4-4, 3-2), Dillon Gallagher singled and had an RBI, while Cooper Currie (run), Aaron Zalescik (run) and Ryder Manfready each had a hit.

Greater Middlesex Conference

Edison 1, Middlesex 0

Jaxon Appelman continued his dominant stretch and Edison head coach Vinnie Abene tied the school’s all-time win record in the Eagles’ key White Division win.

Abene got his 275th win in his 21st season at the helm of the storied program. The mark ties Jimmy Muldowney’s record. The Eagles play at Piscataway on Wednesday.

Appelman went the distance in tossing a two-hit shutout with seven strikeouts with two walks. He also hit a solo home run in the fifth for the only score.

Appelman, a junior righty, is coming off a 19-strikeout, no-hit win against J.P. Stevens last Tuesday.

The win improves Edison’s record to 9-3 overall and 7-3 in the division. The Eagles play Woodbridge (6-2 in division) on Thursday and Saturday. Sayreville remains at 8-2 atop the standings.

Aidan Kozak nearly matched Appelman in the pitching duel, allowing a run in six innings with nine strikeouts for Middlesex (6-5, 4-4). He scattered seven hits and three walks.

St. Joseph 11, East Brunswick 0

Jimmy Mulvaney threw a gem and the St. Joseph hitters exploded for the second game against East Brunswick for the Red Division sweep.

The Falcons (5-6, 4-4) snapped a two-game slide that started after beating East Brunswick 16-2 on April 20 in the first game of the series.

Mulvaney, a senior righty, threw a four-hitter with no walks and four strikeouts in the seven innings.

Robbie Carvelli (3-for-3, 3 RBI) homered, as did Matthew Kosuda, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Mark Gialluisi finished 3-for-5 with two RBI and a pair of doubles and Bobby Christensen went 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

Also joining the hit parade were Josiah Brown (double, RBI), Christian Azcona, Tyler Delvecchio (run) and William Ramsay (RBI). Christian Salgado also drove in a run.

East Brunswick fell to 5-7, 4-6.

Old Bridge 3, South Brunswick 2

The last time Frank Papeo pitched against South Brunswick he had a terrific start, but was on the wrong end of a pitching duel.

Tuesday, he again threw a gem and this time Old Bridge prevailed to get the Red Division split at a game played at Trenton Thunder Ballpark.

The Knights (10-3 overall, 5-3 Red Division) scored in the top of the eighth inning against the Vikings (5-7, 3-5), who won 2-1 on April 20. Papeo took the loss despite going the distance and striking out 11.

In Game 2, Papeo allowed two runs (1 ER) in eight innings with nine strikeouts for the win.

Kyle McSorley and Mike Villani each had singles and RBI and John Smith also drove in a run.

For South Brunswick, Will Haman allowed two runs (1 ER) in seven innings with seven strikeouts, as well as doubling with an RBI. Teddy Garcia walked twice and scored two times. Ryan Kessler doubled and Daniel Kirk and Aaron Perna also had a hit apiece.

J.F. Kennedy 13, Piscataway 5

Grant Lorentzen had a big all-around day in the Mustangs’ Blue Division win. He went 4-for-5 with an RBI and scored, and earned the victory by allowing two earned runs in six innings with six strikeouts.

Justin Rodriguez drove in four runs on a 2-for-4 day as the Mustangs (6-5, 4-2) had 13 hits.

Jeremy Ricourt finished 2-for-5 (double, 2 RBI, 3 runs), while Donovan Claiborne and Braden Mellage each had a hit and two RBI. Additionally, Gabriel Perez (2 runs), RJ Coleman (RBI) and Marcus Bullock (RBI, 2 runs) had a hit apiece.

Mahir Shah went 3-for-4 for Piscataway (4-7, 2-5) and Bobby Bressler (2 RBI, run), Jaden Peace (3 runs) and Troy Hutchinson (RBI) had two hits apiece.

St. Thomas Aquinas 7, North Plainfield 4

Senior Artis Ray had a huge offensive day by going 2-for-3 with a triple and five RBI to lead the Trojans to the Blue Division win.

St. Thomas Aquinas (8-3, 5-2) also got production from Chris Fogarile (2-for-2, RBI) and Zachary Diaz (1-for-2, RBI) with an RBI for STA.

Diaz was also outstanding on the mound and earned his third win of the season by striking out 10 in five innings while scattering 2 hits.

Sayreville 11, Colonia 4

Thomas Schlaline allowed a run in five innings off of four hits with no walks and six strikeouts and Jake Romanello went 2-for-4 and drove in four runs as Sayreville seized the White Division win.

The Bombers (9-3, 8-2) are tied with Woodbridge (6-2 in division) in the loss column for the division lead.

They scored three times in the bottom of the third, four times in the fourth and three more in the fifth to take the big lead behind 12 hits.

Schlaline went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk and an RBI. Also having two hits in the win were Aidan Crimmins (double, 2 RBI, 2 runs), AJ Zapoticzny (3 runs) and Michael Robinson (2 doubles). Additionally, Michael Colonnello singled and drove in two runs and Jaydon Stio tripled with an RBI and scored twice. Aayush Mehta (RBI, run) and Michael Novak (run) also contributed.

For Colonia (5-7, 3-5), Matt Fasulo was 3-for-3 (RBI, 2 runs) and Casey Chiola was 2-for-3.

South Amboy 14, Wardlaw-Hartridge 4

Benjamin Hernandez went 3-for-3 with three RBI and the Governors had 14 hits in the division crossover game.

South Amboy (6-3) trailed 3-0 heading into the bottom of the second, but scored six runs and added four more in the third inning.

Diego Colon (run), Steven Evanski (2 runs, double) and Jeremy Vasquez (2 runs) each had two hits in the win.

Weslyn Sanchez singled, scored twice and had two RBI, while Gabriel Albarran (RBI, run), Benjamin Smith, Nigel Johnson (run) and Daniel Evanski (3 runs) each added a hit.

Mihir Patel went 3-for-4 at the plate with a double and three RBI as J.P. Stevens earned the White Division win.

The host Hawks (3-9, 2-6) jumped to a 4-0 lead after the second inning. Perth Amboy (0-11, 0-8) scored twice in the fourth and once in the sixth, but J.P. scored in the bottom of the sixth for the 5-3 lead.

Justin Bonito was 2-for-4 in the win and Jackson Fong (3 runs) and John Papaianni each added a hit and two walks a piece. Dev Desai contributed two stolen bases and two runs scored as a courtesy runner.

Casden Mui pitched three innings for the win (1 ER), Soham Prajapati pitched 2 2/3 innings in relief with no earned runs and Matthew Jason pitched 1 1/3 innings for the save.

For Perth Amboy, Julian Collado and Justin Foy each went 2-for-4, and every hitter in the lineup delivered a hit apiece as the Panthers out hit the Hawks 11-7.

Union 1, Westfield 0

Aiden Baiardi threw a two-hitter for Union (6-6, 1-4) in a Watchung Division game. Westfield (7-4, 4-1) received hits from Tomas Cestero and Braedan Trajkovski. On the mound, Pat Lanza threw three shutout innings with five strikeouts for the Blue Devils.

Dayton 9, Union Catholic 1

Josiah Sharpe, Nick Leon (RBI) and Aidan Quinn each had two hits for Union Catholic (4-9, 1-5) in the Mountain Division loss.

Steven Francisco doubled and had an RBI and Nasir Powell (run) and John Inoa each had a hit as Plainfield (2-8, 1-4) dropped the Valley Division game.

Woodbridge 14, South Plainfield 3

Sophomore right-hander Ryan Leach allowed two runs in 5 1/3 innings with seven strikeouts as Woodbridge scored the division crossover win.

The visiting Barrons (8-3) trailed 1-0 but scored five runs in the fourth inning, four times in the fifth, three runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh for the big win.

Teyler Weber went 2-for-4 with three RBI and Drew Lukachyk was 2-for-5 and scored twice. AJ Bosch had a hit, scored twice and drove in two runs with a stolen base. Xavier Diaz (double) and Tim Deignan each had a hit, walked and scored three times. Jostiel Valdez didn’t allowed an earned run in 1 2/3 innings with three strikeouts.

Derek Anderson also got a hit and scored in the win and Shawn Kish singled and walked twice.

For the Tigers (4-6), Jayden Alvarez (double) went 2-for-3 and Dom Massaro and Joe Moroney each singled and drove in a run.

North Brunswick 16, J.F. Kennedy 5

Conner Levine pitched four shutout innings and allowed just three hits with four strikeouts and North Brunswick hit three home runs in the division crossover win.

The Raiders (7-4) got home runs from EJ Accettura (RBI, 2 runs), Omar Carreras (2-for-2, RBI, 3 runs) and Zachary Konstantinovsky (2 RBI).

In all, visiting North Brunswick belted out 15 hits and led 6-5 after a wild first inning. The Raiders scored three times in the fourth and seven more in the fifth for the big win.

Frankie Garbolino (RBI, run, double), Kyle Anderson (double, 3 RBI, 2uns), Yomar Carreras (2-for-4, 2 RBI, 2 runs), Chris Roadario and (double, 2 runs) each had hits. Josh Rodriguez also doubled and had an RBI in the win.

Justin Ortiz had a big game at the plate going 3-for-3 with five RBI and two doubles and a triple in the Gold Division win.

Nick Kee earned the win allowed a run in three innings for the Ramblers (9-1, 7-0) and Justin Santana threw three shutout innings with eight strikeouts and James Rodriguez tossed a scoreless frame.

Drexler Rodriguez had a hit with two RBI and Rashad Bennett had a hit.

Joshua Thiero went 3-for-4 with an RBI for Timothy Christian (1-6, 1-5) and Joshua Francis singled with an RBI. Jude Chaplin, Dylan Spivey and Ben Wang each had a hit.

Franklin 7, South Brunswick 1

Anthony Buroughs threw a gem and Mike Schiermeyer drove in three runs as Franklin took the non-conference game over the Greater Middlesex Conference team.

The Warriors (5-6) scored four times in the bottom of the third to seize the lead against South Brunswick (5-6).

Buroughs went the distance and allowed a run, scattering six hits and three walks with two strikeouts. Schiermeyer finished 2-for-3 with the three RBI and Eric Pydeski went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Myles Castillo went 2-for-4 (double, run) and Izaiah Robbinson singled and scored. Buroughs and Jacob Gordon each doubled in the win.

Aiden Rosenthal went 3-for-5 with two RBI and East Brunswick Magnet jumped to a 7-0 lead after the first inning to gain the Gold Division win.

Ryan Dellafave doubled with an RBI and earned the win by allowing four earned runs in 5 1/3 innings with six strikeouts.

Michael Rizzi (RBI) and Scott Pede both had two-hit games for the host Tigers (4-5, 3-4), while Michael Zappola doubled, walked and had two RBI and scored twice in the win. Tommy Oneil (double, RBI), Matt Murphy (RBI) and Joe Squillante (RBI, run) each had a hit for EB Magnet.

For South Amboy (5-2, 4-2), Steven Evanski went 4-for-4 with an RBI and scored three times and Jeremy Vasquez (double) went 2-for-4 with three RBI. Greater Middlesex Conference

Old Bridge 10, St. Augustine 5

The Knights brought hot bats with them in their trip south to Atlantic County.

Mike Villani went 4-for-4 and hit a two-run home run and Kyle McSorley added a three-run homer on a 2-for-4 day as Old Bridge (8-3) got the win against a quality St. Augustine (9-2) team.

Justin Hascup earned the win by striking out six in five innings. Thomas Papeo finished with two scoreless innings and two strikeouts. He also had hit and walked with an RBI and two runs scored. Hascup, John Smith and Evan Smith had a hit apiece and Akhil Penkala scored twice (two BB). Additionally, Frank Papeo had an RBI.

Carteret 2, Colonia 1

The Ramblers just keep winning.

James Rodriguez homered with two RBI and Eric Thompson allowed one run and two hits in six innings with six strikeouts as Carteret improved to 9-1 with the GMC divisional crossover game.

Carteret, which won its fourth straight, also got hits from Jhoalvin Ledesma (run), Thompson, Justin Santana and Rashad Bennett. Santana also pitched a scoreless inning.

Dylan Conklin went the distance for Colonia (4-6) allowing the two runs, five hits and two walks with 10 strikeouts. Matt Fasulo and Jeff Trinca got the Patriots’ hits.

Piscataway 7, Perth Amboy 4

Junior right-hander Jaden Peace went the distance and allowed one earned run in seven innings scattering four hits and two walks with six strikeouts.

Peace earned his third victory of the season and also doubled to centerfield to leadoff the game and walked, scoring two runs.

The Chiefs (4-6) scored three times in the fifth to take a 4-2 lead over Perth Amboy (0-10), but the Panthers tied it with two runs in the bottom half of the inning.

To lead off the sixth, Troy Hutchinson smacked a double to deep left field and scored on Riley Wingate’s RBI-single and Piscataway scored times to take a 7-4 lead.

Mikey Wojcik went 2-for-3 with two RBI in the win and Bobby Bressler’s single to right field scored two runs in the fifth inning.

Dominick Summonte also had an RBI and Terrance Bell Jr. and Troy Hutchinson (double) had hits and scored. Mahir Shah also singled.

Peace only had 20 pitches left in the game going into the bottom of the sixth. He produced three groundouts on only six pitches, and closed the game out in the seventh on his 109th pitch of the game.

Livingston 11, Spotswood 10

Down 7-0 in the home fifth, Spotswood roared back with 10 runs on seven hits highlighted by a Carter Cumiskey grand slam deep into right field with one out on a 3-2 count.

Livingston, though, rallied themselves and EJ Frayne scored the go-ahead run in the top of the 7th on a wild pitch.

Joe Maiello stranded the tying and winning runs on first and second in the bottom of the seventh to close the wild game in the Autism Awareness Classic.

Frayne led off the frame with a single and advanced to second on a sac bunt. He moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a wild pitch two pitches later.

Spotswood (9-1) suffered its first defeat of the season in the non-conference game against Livingston (9-2).

The Chargers’ Casey Cumiskey went 4-for-5 – his third four-hit game of the season with an RBI. His younger brother Carter finished 3-for-5. Sebby Saracino had three hits on the day and scored once and Shawn Lennan went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.

Woodbridge 10, St. Thomas Aquinas 9

Drew Lukachyk ripped two home runs and drove in five runs and Yadiel Pena got the save as Woodbridge earned the divisional crossover win.

The Barrons (7-3) scored four times in the top of the fourth and twice in the seventh to lead 10-5 entering the bottom half. The Trojans (6-3) rallied with four runs but Pena got a strikeout to end the game.

Ty Kobylakiewicz also homered and finished 2-for-4 with three RBI and a walk. Xavier Diaz also drove in two runs and walked three times and Tim Deignan doubled and had an RBI.

Shawn Kish (1 BB) and Tyler Weber (2 BB) each singled and scored twice.

Kish went six innings on the mound and allowed two earned runs with nine strikeouts.

Zachary Diaz went 4-for-4 (double, RBI, run) for St. Thomas Aquinas and Louis Rizzolo (2 RBI, run) and Gavin Sansone (2 runs) each went 2-for-4. Artis Ray (double) and Chris Fogarile each had a hit and RBI.

Ramapo 4, East Brunswick 2

Jack Ryan homered in the second inning and drove in two runs for East Brunswick, but Ramapo scored twice in the bottom of the sixth to pull out the non-conference game at the Autism Awareness Challenge.

The Bears (5-6) got multi-hit games from Jack Gerould, Dustin McGuinness (run) and Jason Agrait (double). Jack Nelson also singled for EB.

For Ramapo (5-6), Jake Lopez singled on a 1-1 count in the sixth inning scoring two runs in the win.

Governor Livingston 5, Middlesex 2

Middlesex rallied with two runs in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings, but Governor Livingston pulled out the win with three in the top of the eighth in the non-conference game in the Autism Awareness Challenge.

John Schmidt drove in three runs and Jason Habedank earned the victory in relief or the Highlanders (7-3).

Aidan Kozak went 2-for-5 for the Blue Jays (6-4) and Justin Gordon, Tomas Lavornia, Dom Parenti and Adam Groel each had a hit.

Plainfield 11, New Brunswick 4

Frankely Torres singled and drove in two runs for New Brunswick, but the Zebras fell in the non-conference game. Amaury Recio (2 runs) and Emanuel Mateo (run) each doubled and Andrew Martinez and Ronaldy Peralta each added a hit.

Second Round

No. 12 Rutgers Prep 5, No. 5 Franklin 4

Zach Fronio didn’t allow an earned run in five innings with 10 strikeouts and drove in two runs to lead Rutgers Prep in the upset.

The Argonauts (4-7) will play at fourth-seeded Somerville in Tuesday’s quarterfinals. Rutgers Prep lost to Franklin 15-3 on April 11.

Saturday, Li Perez was 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI and Andrew Parisi was 2-for-3 with a RBI. Evan Laub went 2-for-4 with a double and scored twice and Ethan Nepomuceno also doubled and scored.

For Franklin (4-6), Mike Schiermeyer hit a solo homer and went 2-for-3 and Veer Singh doubled and had an RBI.

No. 9 Immaculata 5, No. 8 Bound Brook 1

Nick Bozzo threw three perfect innings with three strikeouts to lead a strong pitching performance and the Spartans had 10 hits to advance. Immaculata will play at top-seeded Bridgewater-Raritan in Tuesday’s quarterfinals.

Immaculata scored twice in the top of the second and three times in the third to seize the win.

Greg Zimmerman allowed a run in three innings and Josh Thompson pitched a scoreless inning.

Thompson also had a big day at the plate going 2-for-3 with two RBI. Danny Ferguson (double, RBI, run) and Jayson Labrador each added two hits. Colin Kassai, Connor Quinn, Owen Schilling (2 runs) and Nick Watson each had a hit in the win. Sean Henry was hit by a pitch and scored.

For Bound Brook (4-5), Jake Anderson allowed two earned runs with 11 strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings and went 2-for-3. Nick Anderson drove in Damian Ogonowski for the Crusaders.

No. 6 Pingry 13, No. 11 Manville 1

Alex Payne threw a five-inning no-hitter with 11 strikeouts and just three walks as Pingry got the big win to advance to Tuesday’s quarterfinals against third-seeded Montgomery.

The host Big Blue (5-3) erupted for nine runs in the first inning keyed by a two-run double by Jake Francis and a two-RBI single from Jason Weaver.

Francis finished 2-for-2 with four RBI and Weaver drove in three runs. Nick Lorenzo was 2-for-3 with a walk, two RBI and three runs scored. James Bergman also singled, walked and scored twice and Payne (run) and Michael Cardona (run) each added a hit. Neil Srinkath crossed home plate in the win.

Manville fell to 7-3.

No. 10 Bernards 5, No. 7 Hillsborough 0

Charlie Gonella threw 5 1/3 shutout innings scattering three hits and four walks (2 Ks) and Evan Hoeckele finished with two perfect frames.

The hot Mountaineers (5-3) will play at second-seeded Ridge in Tuesday’s quarterfinals. Bernards have won four straight games and outscored opponents 51-1 in that span.

Saturday, Tyler Helpinstill and Ryan Tondo each had two hits and two RBI and Alex Fragassi was 1-for-3 with an RBI and run scored. Also having hits in the win were Gonella (double), Hoeckele (run) and Matt Falzarano (run). Henry Depew walked twice and scored.

Nick Perillo threw five innings of four-hit ball and allowed four runs (1 ER) with two walks. Freshman Robert Centamore pitched the last two innings and gave up an unearned run on one hit and one walk for the save.

The Warriors (3-7) scored three times in the top of the third to break a 3-3 tie en route to the non-conference win.

Martin Howell went 2-for-3 with two doubles and three RBI and Tino Lobozzo went 3-for-3 with a double, a triple, a single, two RBI and three runs scored. Will Hunsinger finished 2-for-2 with a stolen base and an RBI.

Delbarton 1, Voorhees 0

Voorhees got no-hit by state power Delbarton in the non-conference game in the Autism Awareness Challenge. Amir Eltaki five scoreless for Delbarton (9-3) with two walks and six strikeouts and Aiden Dill pitched two innings with a walk and three strikeouts. Voorhees fell to 3-6.

Union County Conference

Westfield 7, Toms River South 2

Leo Mangiamele hit a solo home run and Owen Callahan went 4-for-4 (double, 2 runs) as Westfield earned the non-conference win.

The visiting Blue Devils (7-3) scored three times in the fourth, once in the sixth and three more in the seventh inning.

Kellen Edwards (3 RBI, 2 runs), Randy Davis (RBI) and Braedan Trajkovski (RBI, run) had two hits apiece in the win. Jake Alfano also had a hit and scored.

Edward Ramirez drove in three runs and scored (single, 2 BB) and Dinelson Dominguez-Morel singled, walked, stole four bases, scored twice and had an RBI in Plainfield’s non-conference win.

Paul di Pasquale pitched a complete game shutout and Paul DiCarlo drove in Matt Yascko for the game’s lone run in the fifth inning in the divisional crossover game.

The senior right-hander allowed four hits with eight strikeouts in the gem for Edison (7-3).

Jordan Martins went 3-for-3 in the win and Declan DiCarlo also had a hit.

RJ Coleman also had a good start for J.F. Kennedy by allowing one run in five innings with with nine strikeouts.

Grant Lorentzen went 2-for-3 with a double for the Mustangs (5-4) and Donovan Claiborne and Braden Mellage each had a hit.

Carteret 3, Long Branch 2

Carteret rallied with three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to get the walk-off win in the non-conference game.

James Rodriguez doubled and had two RBI and Justin Santana singled and drove in a run for the Ramblers (8-1).

Eric Thompson went 2-for-3 and scored and Jhoalvin Ledesma singled and walked twice. Rashad Bennett also crossed home plate in the win.

Zack Wallace went the distance in the five-inning game by allowing an unearned run off of four hits and two walks as the Falcons’ bats erupted in the Red Division win.

Monroe (5-4 overall, 5-4 in the division won its fourth-straight game with 13 hits.

Lucas White went 3-for-3 with two RBI and Harrison Lollin (2-for-2, RBI, 4 runs) and Michael Ortiz (2-for-3, 3 RBI, run) also had multi-hit games.

Robbie Carvelli doubled and drove in two runs for St. Joseph in the non-conference loss in the Autism Awareness Challenge.

The Falcons (4-5) led 6-5 until Jackson Memorial (8-2) scored five times in the bottom of the sixth.

Mark Gialluisi also doubled and had an RBI. Also having a hit for the Falcons were Josiah Brown (RBI, 2 runs), Connor Drury (RBI, run) and Joseph Zammitti. Bobby Christensen drove in a run and William Ramsay scored.

East Brunswick Magnet 11, Plainfield 10

Joe Squillante went 2-for-4 with two RBI as East Brunswick Magnet won in the Autism Awareness Challenge.

The Tigers (4-5) scored six runs in the top of the first inning and four other players got two hits in the win – Aiden Rosenthal (2 runs, double), Ryan Dellafave (RBI, 2 runs, double), Jack Clements (RBI, run) and Tommy Oneil (RBI, 2 runs). Michael Rizzi (RBI, run), Scott Pede (run), Matt Murphy and Stephen Zappola had a hit apiece.

Clements earned the win by pitching three scoreless innings allowing just a hit with four strikeouts.

South Amboy 12, Rahway 8

Benjamin Hernandez doubled and drove in three runs as South Amboy won the Autism Awareness Challenge game.

The Governors (5-2) had five players who had two hits in Gabriel Albarran (2 doubles, 2 RBI, 3 runs), Benjamin Smith (double, RBI, 2 runs), Nigel Johnson (RBI, run), Jeremy Vasquez (run) and Weslyn Sanchez (run).

Highland Park 4, New Brunswick 3

Luca Sheldon allowed two earned runs in six innings with nine strikeouts as Highland Park won the divisional crossover game.

Owen Roth-Zappo went 2-for-4 with two RBI for the Owls (3-5), while Aidan O’Connell and Daniel Sanchez (run) also each went 2-for-4. Sheldon and Seth Shapiro each drove in a run in the win.

Henry Hudson 10, Perth Amboy Magnet 1

Nelson Concepcion singled and had an RBI as Perth Amboy Magnet (1-7-1) suffered the non-conference loss. Jean Felipe Lozado also had a hit for PA Magnet.

Skyland Conference

Manville 4, Bound Brook 3

Right-hander James Mascola allowed one earned run six innings with five strikeouts and had a big day at the plate as Manville earned the Mountain Division win.

The Mustangs (7-2, 3-2) scored three times in the bottom of the third and tacked on a run in the fourth inning.

Mascola also went 3-for-3 with an RBI double. Junior catcher Sebastian Carvajal went 1-for-3 with a two-RBI triple.

Bound Brook fell to 4-4, 2-3.

Warren Hills 5, Delaware Valley 0

Danny Shaprio singled and threw three shutout innings with six strikeouts as Delaware Valley (5-4) lost to Warren Hills in the divisional crossover game. Cooper Fransen and Anthony Saniscalchi each singled for the Terriers.

Governor Livingston 11, Dayton 2

Matty Diskin threw five no-hit innings allowing just a walk with four strikeouts and Matthew Shaffer went 3-for-4 with two RBI in the Highlanders divisional crossover win. Jonathan Schmidt (RBI) and Dominic Labisi (RBI, 2 runs)

Phillipsburg 7, Scotch Plains-Fanwood 5

Evan Doyle went 3-for-4 with a double and RBI for Scotch Plains-Fanwood in the non-conference loss to Phillipsburg.

Sean Ferrone (2 runs) and Jaden Carpien (RBI, run) had two hits apiece for the Raiders (5-6).

Summit 8, New Providence 1

Sean Reilly went 3-for-3 for New Providence (3-7) in the division crossover loss. Ryan Grill singled and drove in Andrew Kowantz. James Miller also had a hit.

Cranford 12, Union Catholic 4

Chris Wilson (RBI, 2 runs) and Nick Leon each had two hits as Union Catholic (4-7) fell in the divisional crossover game. Ryan Bevensee and Noah Sosa each had a hit and RBI for the Vikings.

Elizabeth 5, Westfield 2

Elizabeth scored three times in the top of the eighth for the divisional crossover win over Westfield (6-3). Jack Chavez delivered a strong start for the Blue Devils and allowed two unearned runs in seven innings with eight strikeouts. Jake Alfano and Charlie McCormack ech singled with an RBI for Westfield

Greater Middlesex Conference

South Brunswick 2, Old Bridge 1

With two outs in the top of the seventh and Danny Kirk on second, South Brunswick’s Teddy Garcia hit a hard ground ball up the middle. Old Bridge’s second baseman made a nice play to knock it down, but the ball rolled away a few feet from him.

Kirk raced home from second base and beat the throw home for the go-ahead run as the Vikings (4-5 overall, 3-4 in division) earned the Red Division win. Old Bridge fell to 7-3, 4-3.

Kirk also save the day with his pitching arm. He entered in the bottom of the sixth with the bases loaded and had two strikeouts to keep it a tie game going into the seventh.

Kirk earned the win with 1 2/3 innings of scoreless ball with three strikeouts.

Joey Tuttoilmondo turned into another terrific start by allowing a run in 5 1/3 innings with 10 strikeouts.

Ethan Fantel went 1-for-3 and drove in Will Haman (2-for-4) in the fifth inning to tie it 1-1.

Frank Papeo was the tough-luck loser in the pitching duel by allowing two runs in seven innings with 11 strikeouts. Kyle McSorley drove in Mike Villani (2-for-4) in the first inning and Evan Smith went 2-for-3. John Smith also had a hit.

The teams play again on April 25.

Middlesex 7, Edison 1

Senior right-hander Michael Canavesio was the stopper for Middlesex in Thursday’s White Division win against Edison.

He slowed a hot Edison team by allowing one run in six innings with 10 strikeouts and scattered five hits and four walks. Alfonso Esposito pitched a perfect seventh.

The Blue Jays (6-3, 4-3) are back in the divisional race after coming off a two-game series sweep against Woodbridge. Edison (6-3, 6-3) had won three straight games, in which it outscored opponents 21-2.

Aidan Kozak went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a double (2 runs scored) and Dom Parenti (RBI) and Tomas Lavornia (double, run) each finished 2-for-4.

Justin Gordon tripled and walked and scored twice and Marcus Lavornia singled and scored. Esposito knocked in a run and Owen Reynolds scored.

For the Eagles, Anthony Calantoni went 2-for-3 and an RBI that scored Paul DiCarlo (single). Also having hits for Edison were Jaxon Appelman and Charlie Taub.

North Brunswick 10, Woodbridge 7

North Brunswick scored five times in the top of the eighth with Yomar Carreras hitting a two-RBI triple, Frankie Garbolino having a two-RBI single and Zack Konstantinovsky singling in a run.

In a game of big innings, North Brunswick (6-4) scored four runs in the top of the sixth inning to take a 5-2 lead. Woodbridge rallied with three runs in the bottom of the seventh to tie it and force extra innings.

The Barrons (6-3) also scored twice in the seventh, but their rally fell short in the GMC divisional crossover game.

Yomar Carreras tripled twice (2-for-5) and drove in three runs and Sammy Berardo went 2-for-5 with two RBI. Konstantinovsky finished 3-for-4 with a double and RBI. Kyle Anderson (run), EJ Accettura (run) and Josh Rodriguez (2 runs) each had a hit. Additionally, Omar Carreras walked three times and scored and Chris Rosario walked twice and scored.

For Woodbridge, Tim Deignan went 3-for-3, walked and scored three times and Ty Kobylakiewicz had two hits (double, run) waked twice and had two RBI. Tyler Weber singled with two RBI and AJ Bosch singled and had a RBI. Derek Anderson was 1-for-1 with two runs scored and walked and Derek Oxner scored.

Spotswood 15, Dunellen 0

Sophomore Carter Cumiskey hammered a two-run home run deep to right field and added another RBI going 2-for-3 on the day. He also scored twice in the Chargers’ home victory in the GMC divisional crossover game.

Spotswood opened the season 9-0 for the first time in school history. Seton Hall-bound senior Casey Cumiskey continued his torrid start with another three-hit game, this time 3-for-4 with three doubles and an RBI.

He is now 24-for-34 with eight doubles and a triple through nine games, good for a .705 batting average to go with two wins and a save on the mound.

Breckyn DeAngelis and winning pitcher Jackson Walsh drove in two runs apiece. Walsh went the first two innings, striking out five. Walsh combined with junior Jack Louro and senior Tim Banko on a two-hit shutout. It was the fifth shutout in nine games for the Chargers pitching. Manna and Hutchens had a single each for the Destroyers (6-1), who dropped their first game of the season.

South River 12, Piscataway 5

South River completed the series sweep of Piscataway winning their sixth-straight game improving to 7-1.

Joseph Lepore went 3-for-3 with four runs scored, two doubles and an RBI. Julius Rosado's three-run double in the fourth gave the Rams a 4-3 lead.

Noah Borero came off the bench with a clutch two-RBI bad-hop single to extend the Rams lead in the 6th. Matt Marques finished 2-for-4 with an RBI. Jaiden Rodriguez and James Zsorey also had RBI for the Rams. Gavin Franco got the win by going six innings, striking out one and walking two.

Mahir Shah and Jaden Peace had two hits apiece for Piscataway (3-6).

St. Joseph 16, East Brunswick 2

Tyler Delvecchio homered and doubled as the St. Joseph’s bats erupted in a big Red Division win with 13 hits.

Matthew Friedman went the distance in the five-inning game allowing two runs with four strikeouts and scattered eight hits and four walks.

The game was tied 2-2 after the first inning, but the host Falcons (4-4, 3-4) scored six runs in the second inning, five in the third and three in the fourth inning for the big lead.

Mark Gialluisi finished 3-for-4 and scored three times, Robbie Carvelli doubled and had two RBI and Bobby Christensen went 2-for-2 (double) and scored twice.

Joseph Zammitti (RBI, run), William Ramsay (2 RBI), Christian Azcona (RBI, 2 BB) and Josiah Brown (run) each had a hit. Charlie Algier and Christian Salgado each walked and scored.

For East Brunswick (5-5, 4-5), Derrick Christie (RBI), Jack Ryan (RBI), Jack Nelson and John Oranchak each had two hits.

Sayreville 15, Colonia 5

Michael Colonnello tripled twice with three RBI, two walks and four runs as the Bombers get a big White Division win.

Sayreville (8-3, 7-2) scored four times in the top of the third and four in the fourth innings and put it away with six runs in the seventh inning.

Thomas Schlaline (double, 3 RBI) and Aidan Crimmins (triple, two RBI) each went 2-for-5 and Michael Novak singled and drove in three runs. Also contributing were Jaydon Stio (double, 2 runs), Jake Romanello (hit, 3 runs, 3 BB), Michael Robinson (triple, RBI), Aayush Mehta (2 BB, RBI, run) and AJ Zapoticzny (BB, run).

Mehta earned the win by allowing three runs (1 ER) in six innings with five strikeouts.

Jeff Trinca went 3-for-4 with two RBI for Colonia (4-5, 3-4) and Casey Chiola went 3-for-4 (run) and Matt Fasulo was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Dylan Chiera finished 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run. Additionally, Colin Kroner tripled (RBI, run) and Eduardo Tapia singled and drove in a run.

J.F. Kennedy 6, North Plainfield 1

Junior left-hander Dev Patel went the distance in an outstanding start in which he allowed a run, two hits, two walks and struck out five in the Blue Division win.

The host Mustangs (5-3, 4-2) completed the sweep by scoring twice in the first to take a 2-1 lead and adding two more in the second and fourth innings.

RJ Coleman went 2-for-3 (double, triple, BB) with three RBI and he scored. Gabriel Perez (RBI) and Jeremy Ricourt each singled and walked and scored twice. Braden Mellage singled and drove in a run, while Donovan Claiborne also had a hit and Myles Ulaky walked and scored.

Bryce Leonard had the RBI for North Plainfield (0-8, 0-8) and Joan Herrera (run) and Davyn Ciriaco each had hits.

J.P. Stevens 7, Perth Amboy 6

Matthew Jason tossed a complete game in the White Division win and went 2-for-4 at the plate. The senior right-hander allowed six unearned runs off of five hits and no walks with six strikeouts.

The Hawks (2-8, 1-6) scored twice in the top of the seventh to take a 7-5 lead. Perth Amboy (0-9, 0-7) scored in the bottom of the inning but fell short.

Justin Bonito was 2-4 with an RBI in the win and freshman Lansen Mui notched his first varsity hit. Tanush Ashok was 1-for-2 with an RBI and run scored and Ankith Kunduru singled, walked and scored. Jackson Fong and John Papaianni each walked and scored.

Skyland Conference

Ridge 11, Immaculata 0

Steven Dresner drove in two runs and Luke Somelofske pitched three shutout innings for the win as Ridge won their fourth straight game.

The host Red Devils (7-2 overall, 4-1 in Delaware Division) erupted for 11 runs in the first inning and the pitchers came through the rest of the way.

Somelofske allowed two hits and a walk with a strikeout in the five-inning game. Aiden Stieglitz (3 Ks) and Ben Larner each pitched a scoreless inning in the win.

Somelofske also had a hit and drove in a run as did Julian Kielb (double) and Connor Byrne. Nick Sellitti singled and scored twice and Brendan Callanan and Josh LaTourette each scored twice. Ben Carroll and Brady Wilson each scored once.

For Immaculata (1-6, 1-5), Sean Henry, Connor Quinn and Jayson Labrador each had a hit.

North Hunterdon 6, Franklin 2

Alex Famolari slugged a three-run homer and drove in four runs as North Hunterdon got the Raritan Division win.

The host Lions (7-2, 5-1) scored three times in the first inning, twice in the fifth and once in the sixth.

Tyler Anderson went 3-for-3 and scored and Wyatt Demeo and Nick Hernandez each had two hits and scored. Additionally, Eddie Appollina (RBI) and Jesse Lance (run) each singled and Chris Sand scored.

Franklin fell to 4-5, 2-4.

Voorhees 9, Gill St. Bernard's 1

Brandon Aulert allowed an unearned run in five innings with three strikeouts and Voorhees laced out 15 hits in the Valley Division win.

Aulert went 3-for-5 at the plate and Luke Ansbach pitched two perfect innings for the Vikings (3-5, 3-2).

Ansbach (RBI, run), Bryen Flaherty (double, RBI, run), Jeff Manning (RBI) and Joey Nolan (double, RBI, 2 runs) had two hits apiece.

Nolan Banach (RBI, run), Dylan Jordan (double, RBI, run) and Ray Schiavo (run) each had a hit.

For Gill St. Bernard’s (2-7, 0-4), John DiGregorio (run) and Zack Wendell each had two hits and Tim Park had an RBI.

Montgomery 11, Rutgers Prep 10

Cole Schulberg (2 hits), Ryan Formica and Troy Jenkins each drove in two runs and Montgomery scored three times in the bottom of the seventh to earn the Raritan Division win.

The host Cougars (5-3, 4-2) trailed 7-0 after the second inning, but came back with six runs in the third inning. The teams traded runs in the fourth and Rutgers Prep (3-7, 1-5) scored in the fifth.

Aiden Inoue (RBI, 2 runs), Johnny Kimick (RBI), John Donahue (2 runs) and Adrian Hansen (2 runs) each had a hit.

Somerville 8, Phillipsburg 6

Sophomore right-hander Ryan Ciesla went five innings with three strikeouts to earn his first varsity win and Dylan Hornick threw the last two innings as Somerville took the Raritan Division win.

The visiting Pioneers (6-3, 5-1) never trailed and scored three times in the second to take a 4-1 lead and twice in the fourth to lead 7-3.

Chase Wengryn homered and went 2-for-4 and scored twice with an RBI, while Karson Wengryn was 3-for-4 with two RBI. Brayden Keller added two hits (double) with two RBI.

Hunterdon Central 8, Hillsborough 7

Joe Kozak had two hits and drove in three runs and Mike Contiliano was 4-for-4 (2 runs) in Hunterdon Central’s Delaware Division win.

The visiting Red Devils (5-3, 4-2) scored in the seventh inning for the win.

Logan Escamilla finished 3-for-3 (double, RBI, 2 runs, BB) and Andrew Nguyen singled and drove in two runs. Tyler Stallwood doubled, waked and scored twice.

Alex Chayko earned the win by allowing a run in 2 1/3 innings off of two hits.

Matt Westcott went 2-for-4 and homered with two RBI for Hillsborough (3-7, 2-4). Max Romanok (2 RBI, 2 runs), Liam Gallagher (RBI, 2 runs) and Avery Whitney each had a hit for the Raiders.

Bernards 20, Roselle Park 0

Charlie Gonella (2 doubles, 3 RBI, 3 runs), Matt Giunta (2 doubles, 3 runs, RBI) and Tyler Helpinstill (4 runs, BB) had three hits apiece in Bernards’ big non-conference win.

The host Mountaineers (4-3) led 7-0 after the second inning and put up 10 runs in the third to break the game open with 19 total hits.

Connor Laverty earned the win by pitching two innings and Roselle Park (4-3) got one hit.

Evan Hoeckele and Henry Depew each had two hits and two RBI apiece.

Somerset County Tournament

First Round

No. 11 Manville 10, No. 14 Gill St. Bernard’s 5

Manville jumped to an 8-1 lead after the second inning and Joshua Barrios singled and drove in four runs as the Mustangs advanced to Saturday’s second round against No. 6 Pingry, which received a bye.

Nick Bentz turned in an effective start for Manville (6-2) by allowing four earned runs in six innings with seven strikeouts. Logan Klementovicz threw a scoreless inning.

James Mascola went 2-for-4 with three RBI and Elijah Capone was also 2-for-4 with a double, and RBI and two runs scored.

Geoffrey Mathis added a hit and scored twice and Klementovicz and Sebastian Carvajal each laced a hit.

For Gill St. Bernard’s (2-6), Colin Chou homered and went 2-for-4 with three RBI and Zack Wendell finished 3-for-4 and scored twice. Matthew Park (run), Joey Fava, Michael Ricciardulli, Graham Berry (RBI), Bobby Niesmertelny and John DiGregorio each had a hit.

No. 12 Rutgers Prep 8, No. 13 Watchung Hills 0

Senior right-hander Max Treonze struck out 14 hitters in a complete game shutout, allowing just four hits as Rutgers Prep advanced.

Treonze also doubled with two RBI for the Argonauts (3-6) and Zach Fronio homered with two RBI. Evan Laub and Cody Rullo each had two hits and drove in a run. Ethan Nepomuceno (RBI), Andrew Parisi (RBI), Joey Dwek and Maddox Chu each added a hit in the win.

Regular Season

Bridgewater-Raritan 16, Egg Harbor 5

Bridgewater-Raritan broke open a close game with nine runs in the top of the sixth and Matthew Fattore slugged two home runs with six RBI on a 4-for-5 day in the non-conference win over state power Egg Harbor.

Michael Fattore also hit a home run for the Panthers (8-1) and he went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Kevin Lee also homered with two RBI.

Additionally, Devin Goldberg (2 runs, double), James Turchi (2 runs, double) and Joe Letko (run) each had two hits. Frankie Verano (run, double), Jacob Rosado (run) and JR Rosado each added a hit.

Cory Rible earned the win and allowed four runs in 4 2/3 innings.

Montgomery 12, Princeton Day 0

Johnny Kimick threw a shutout in the five-inning game with seven strikeouts and allowed just a hit and three walks as Montgomery earned the non-conference win.

The host Cougars (4-3) scored times in the first inning and led 10-0 after the second inning.

John Donahue went 1-for-1 and drove in two runs. Having a hit apiece in the win were Cole Schulberg (RBI, double), Jeremy Wacker (2 runs, RBI) and Troy Jenkins (2 runs). Additionally, Logan Reinson, Tyler Conners, Justin Swerdlow and Declan Kyler each drove in a run.

Carteret 7, Timothy Christian 1

Nick Kee went the distance with seven strikeouts and gave up four hits and three walks as Carteret won the Gold Division game.

The Ramblers (7-1, 7-0) led 3-1 and sealed the win with four runs in the top of the sixth inning.

Eric Thompson went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a triple and Jared Nelan (run) and Justin Ortiz (RBI, run) each had two hits.

Justin Santana, James Rodriguez and Jhoalvin Ledesma each had a hit in the win.

Dunellen 10, Wardlaw-Hartridge 0

Corbin Evans threw a gem and had three hits in the Silver Division win.

The host Destroyers (6-0, 6-0) jumped to a 6-0 lead after the first three innings.

Evans allowed three hits and a walk on the mound. At bat, he was 3-for-3 with an RBI and scored twice. Ryan Hutchins (2 RBI, run) and Angelo DeNapoli (RBI, run) each had two hits.

Juan Luis Rodriguez stole four bases, singled, scored twice and had an RBI and Myles Harrada had a hit and RBI (run) and Jacob Manna also had a hit (run).

South Amboy 6, East Brunswick Magnet 5

Down 5-4, Jeremy Vasquez had the game-tying single in the bottom of the seventh and Gabe Albarran had the walk-off single in South Amboy’s win.

The Governors (4-2 overall, 4-2 in Gold Division) led 4-1, but EB Magnet (3-5, 3-4) scored four times in the top of the sixth to take the lead.

Albarran went 3-for-5 with two RBI and Vasquez had two RBI and scored twice. Weslyn Sanchez (RBI), Nigel Johnson and Benjamin Hernandez each added a hit and Steven Evanski scored twice. Daniel Evanski scored once.

Scott Pede pitched well for EB Magnet and threw 6 1/3 scoreless innings with 10 strikeouts. He reached the pitch limit with one out in the seventh. Anthony Bienvenue (2 RBI), Jack Clements (RBI, run) and Ryan Dellafave each had two hits.

St. Thomas Aquinas 15, Metuchen 1

Junior Gavin Sansone picked up the win on the mound tossing four innings, allowing one hit with four strikeouts in the Blue Division win.

Sophomore Donovan Epps was 2-for 4 with a double, triple and an RBI for the Trojans (6-2, 4-2). Senior Artis Ray went 2-for-3 with three RBI and junior Zachary Diaz was 2-for-3 with pair of RBI in the victory.

Senior Christian Scaff and junior Pete Fizer chipped in with an RBI apiece for the Trojans.

Colonia 12, Rahway 4

Colin Kroner threw three shutout innings, allowing just a walk with two strikeouts and Dylan Conklin went 3-for-3 (RBI, 2 runs) in the non-conference win.

The host Patriots trailed 4-2, but scored seven times in the fifth inning and added three runs an inning later.

Timmy Matten went 2-for-4 and scored twice in the win. Casey Chiola and Jake Harvatt each had a hit and drove in run and scored twice. Additionally, Jeff Trinca singled and had an RBI and Luke Celebrano doubled and scored.

Driving in runs in the win were Dylan Chiera, Colin Kroner, Matt Fasulo and Eduardo Tapia.

Sayreville 11, Perth Amboy 1

Jake Romanello allowed a run in 3 2/3 innings and went 2-for-2 with an RBI, a walk and scored three times in the White Division sweep.

Michael Novak tripled (2 runs) and Thomas Schlaline (hit) each had two RBI for the Bombers (7-3, 6-2).

Having an RBI apiece for the Bombers were Michael Colonnello, AJ Zapoticzny, Aidan Crimmins and Jaydon Stio.

Sebastian Aponte homered for Perth Amboy.

Piscataway Magnet 13, Perth Amboy Magnet 6

Nomar Carreras allowed three unearned runs in five innings with 10 strikeouts and allowed just two hits and three walks in the Silver Division win.

The host Raiders (6-0, 6-0) trailed 3-1 and put up seven runs in the bottom of the fourth to seize the lead.

Carreras also singled and drove in two runs, while Elijah Rivera (2 runs, 2 hits) and Jacob Lyerly (double) each had three RBI.

Matt Baez, Jason Jonathan and Jurodh Santos (3 runs) each had a hit and an RBI. Ja'kir Waites also singled and walked twice and crossed home plate twice. Jayden Hunter added an RBI and a run scored.

The senior right-hander walked five in the win for the Eagles (6-2 overall, 3-1 in White Division).

Jordan Martins went 2-for-4 with an RBI and Anthony Calantoni doubled, walked and was hit by a pitch and scored twice. Jackson Ferrer also had a hit.

J.P. Stevens’ Justin Bonito also threw a gem with 11 strikeouts and allowed two runs (1 ER) in 6 1/3 innings and allowed four hits and five walks.

Monroe 11, South Brunswick 6

Aidan Lane and Stephen Pascucci each homered and Lucas White struck out 10 as Monroe earned the Red Division sweep.

The hot Falcons (4-4, 4-4) have won three in a row and topped the Vikings (3-5, 2-4) in the first game of the series 3-0 on Monday.

White is giving Monroe a deep staff to go along with Harrison Lollin and Zack Wallace.

Lane went 3-for-5 with a double, two RBI and three runs. Jake Lobue went 2-for-5 with an RBI.

Kyle McCauley doubled and drove in three runs and White (RBI, 2 runs), Nick Sellari (run), Michael Ortiz (RBI, run), Larry Case (RBI) and Lollin (RBI) each had a hit.

Ethan Fantel homered and went 2-for-2 with three RBI and two walks for the Vikings. Aaron Perna and Will Sassman each had an RBI. Jack Leach and Joey Sanchez added a hit apiece and each scored.

Woodbridge 4, Middlesex 2

Ryan Leach delivered a clutch start and Drew Lukachyk drove in two runs and earned the win in relief as Woodbridge gained the two-game White Division sweep.

The Barrons (6-2, 6-2) edged Middlesex (5-3, 3-3) on Saturday 9-8.

Ty Kobylakiewicz went 2-for-3 and stole three bases, walked and scored a run and Tyler Weber scored twice (2 BB).

Leach, a sophomore righty, allowed two runs (1 ER) in 5 1/3 innings with eight strikeouts and allowed three hits and three walks.

Lukachyk pitched 1 2/3 shutout innings with three strikeouts for the victory.

Aidan Kozak struck out 11 hitters for Middlesex and went 2-for-4 and scored a run. Justin Gordon singled and Owen Reynolds drove in a run.

J.F. Kennedy 17, North Plainfield 6

Freshman right-hander Myles Ulaky earned his first varsity win and Donovan Claiborne and RJ Coleman each homered in the Blue Division win.

The visiting Mustangs (4-3, 3-2) have won three straight. They scored seven runs in the first inning, four times in the fourth and five more in the seventh.

Ulaky allowed four earned runs in six innings with seven strikeouts.

Coleman went 3-for-5 with six RBI and three runs scored and Claiborne also walked and had three RBI.

Justin Rodriguez, Braden Mellage (2 runs) and Jeremy Ricourt (2 runs) each had two hits. Additionally, Marcus Bullock doubled with an RBI and Zach Tyler had a hit and RBI. Kevin Portoreal also drove in a run.

For North Plainfield (0-7, 0-7), Joan Herrera went 3-for-4 (2 runs, double) and Bryce Leonard and Tommy Zotollo each had two hits.

Sayreville 15, Perth Amboy 0

Sophomore right-hander Tommy Schlaline threw a complete game shutout with six strikeouts and allowed just three hits and two walks as Sayreville earned the White Division win.

The visiting Bombers (6-3, 5-2) led 8-0 and sealed the win with seven runs in the seventh inning.

Aayush Mehta (3 RBI, run, double), Aidan Crimmins (RBI, 2 runs), Michael Robinson (2 RBI) and Michael Novak (RBI, 3 runs) each went 2-for-4 in the win.

Schlaline (RBI), Jake Romanello (2 runs), Jaydon Stio (3 runs, RBI) and Michael Colonnello each added a hit.

North Brunswick 4, St. Joseph 3

Alejandro Jabar battled on the mound and the North Brunswick hitters came through to edge St. Joseph and get the key Red Division sweep.

The Raiders (5-4 overall, 5-3 in division) scored twice in the top of the first and two more in the fifth for the win. The Falcons (3-4, 2-4) responded with a run in the bottom of the first and two in the fourth inning.

Omar Carreras (run) and Frankie Garbolino each singled and drove in a run and Chris Rosario went 2-for-3. Zack Konstantinovsky and Yomar Carreras (double, 2 BB) each had a hit and scored.

Jabar allowed five hits, eight walks and hit a batter in five innings, but allowed three runs and gave his team a chance to win. Conner Levine finished with two shutout innings.

Mark Gialluisi went 3-for-4 with a run scored for the Falcons and Connor Drury was 2-for-3 and Joseph Zammitti drove in two runs. Tyler Delvecchio added an RBI.

Monday, North Brunswick topped St. Joseph 6-1 as Konstantinovsky threw a shutout with 12 strikeouts and hit two home runs.

East Brunswick 5, Old Bridge 4

Michael Marchese and Josh Kesser combined on the win and East Brunswick had a productive hitting day to get the Red Division split.

The visiting Bears (5-4, 4-4) scored twice in the first inning and three more in the fourth. Old Bridge (7-2, 4-2) scored in the second and fifth innings and two in the seventh, but had its five-game win streak snapped.

Marchese allowed two runs in five innings off of two hits and four walks with four strikeouts for the win. Kesser earned his first save by allowing two runs (1 ER) in two innings on two hits.

Jack Gerould and John Oranchak each went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run and Jack Ryan singled and drove in two runs. Jack Nelson added two hits and scored.

For Old Bridge, Kyle McSorley was 2-for-3 with a run and Akhil Penkala, Joshua Martinez and Mike Villani each had a hit and an RBI.

St. Thomas Aquinas 16, Metuchen 3

Senior Ricky Del Rio hurled six strong innings scattering four hits while striking out three to earn the win for the Trojans in a Blue Division contest.

The Trojans improved to (5-2, 3-2) and finish the series Wednesday against Metuchen (1-6, 1-6).

Sophomore Donovan Epps was 3-for-5 with two RBI and two stolen bases. Freshman Louis Rizzolo was 1-for-2 with a double and three RBI while junior David Ryden added a two-run triple in the victory.

South River 14, Piscataway 12

Matt Marques went 4-for-5 with a double and 4 RBI as South River won a back and forth Blue Division game that was tied 10-10 in the fifth.

James Zsorey got the win in three innings of relief for the Rams (6-1, 6-1) and starter Julius Rosado went four innings striking out 11. The sophomore also went 2-for-3 with an RBI triple in the sixth and finished with 2 RBI.

Sabastian Susinno and Zsorey (2 RBI) added two hits apiece in the win. Parker Lane and Noah Borero also drove in runs for the Rams, while Joseph Lepore scored 3 runs.

For Piscataway (3-5, 2-3), Jaden Peace had a two-RBI double, Michael Wojcik had two hits and two RBI and Troy Hutchinson finished 3-for-5 with an RBI double.

Piscataway led early 4-1 after one and a half innings. South River scored four runs in the second to take a 5-4 lead. South River scored three more in the third to take an 8-4 lead.

Piscataway scored twice in the fourth inning and three more in the fifth to make it 10-10 in the top of the 5th.

The Rams scored twice in the bottom of the fifth and two more in the bottom of the sixth and took a 14-11 lead into the seventh. Piscataway scored a run in the seventh and had a runner on third with two outs.

However, the game ended as South River shortstop Julius Rosado made a sparkling one-handed slow roller play for the final out.

Skyland Conference

Bridgewater-Raritan 6, Immaculata 2

Matthew Fattore had a strong start and Joe Letko singled with two RBI as Bridgewater-Raritan earned the Delaware Division win.

The Panthers (7-1, 5-0) scored four times in the bottom of the fourth and twice in the sixth.

Fattore allowed two runs (1 ER) in six innings with eight strikeouts and scattered seven hits and a walk. Noah Matheson pitched a scoreless inning.

Devin Goldberg went 2-for-4 in the win and having a hit apiece were Fattore, Michael Fattore (run), JR Rosado (2 runs) and Arden Maxhuni (triple, RBI, run). Kevin Lee drove in a run.

For Immaculata (1-5, 1-4), Colin Kassai went 2-for-4 and Cole Raymond was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Josh Thompson, Sean Henry, Connor Quinn and Jayson Labrador (run) each had a hit.

Rutgers Prep 7, Phillipsburg 5

Cody Rullo hit a two-run single in the top of the eighth to give Rutgers Prep the 7-5 lead and the Raritan Division win.

In the bottom of the seventh, Nick Pizzie walked the bases loaded with no outs and got out of the jam as the game went into extra innings.

Max Treonze had a two-run single and was 2-for-4 and Cody Rullo singled with two RBI. Maddox Chu (run) and Zach Fronio (2 runs) each had a hit and an RBI and Andrew Parisi scored twice. Rutgers Preps improved to 2-6, 1-4.

Pingry 10, Voorhees 5

Jake Francis had a big all-around game as Pingry earned the Valley Division win.

The visiting Big Blue (4-3, 4-0) scored twice in the first inning and four times in the second to gain the big early lead.

Francis allowed one earned run in five innings with nine strikeouts and allowed three hits and a walk. At bat, he went 2-for-4 with three RBI and scored twice.

Nick Lorenzo finished 3-for-4 (RBI, 2 runs) and James Bergman was 2-for-3 (3 runs) also had multi-hits. Jason Weaver (RBI), Alex Payne (run) and Dermot McGuire also had hits. Kailar Ahn and Joaquin Stevenson each scored. Gavin Wang allowed two unearned runs in the final two innings.

For Voorhees (2-5, 2-2), Brandon Aulert singled with two RBI.

North Hunterdon 5, Montgomery 0

Senior right-hander Eddie Appollina threw five shutout innings with five strikeouts and allowed just two hits and four walks as the Lions earned the Raritan Division win.

North Hunterdon (6-2, 4-1) led 2-0 and sealed the win with three runs in the top of the seventh inning.

Chris Sand finished with two scoreless innings with four strikeouts and gave up a hit and a walk. Tyler Anderson had two hits and an RBI and Appollina also drove in a run. Sand had a hit and scored twice. Max Delia and Jesse Lance each added a hit.

For Montgomery (3-3, 3-2), John Donahue did not allow an earned run in four innings with seven strikeouts. Ryan Formica, Johnny Kimick and Aiden Inoue had hits.

Watchung Hills 11, Hunterdon Central 2

Trenon Standard allowed two unearned runs in 5 2/3 innings with eight strikeouts and Martin Howell homered as Watchung Hills earned the key Delaware Division win. The Warriors improved to 2-5, 1-3 and won two straight, while Hunterdon Central fell to 4-3, 3-2.

Union County Conference

Governor Livingston 8, Scotch Plains-Fanwood 3

Matt Diskin doubled on the first pitch of his at bat in the fifth inning to score two runs and break a tie as Governor Livingston won the UCC Watchung Division game.

The Highlanders (4-3, 2-2) got multiple hits from Diskin (2 doubles, 2 RBI, 2 runs) and Matt Shaffer (RBI, run), while Jonathan Schmidt double and drove in two runs. Jason Habedank, Johnny Schmidt and Zach Geertsma each added a hit and RBI in the win.

Keith Mann allowed three runs (1 ER) in 4 2/3 innings for the win and Anthony DeNora finished with 2 1/3 scoreless innings.

Westfield 9, Johnson 8

Westfield scored twice in the bottom of the eight for the walk-off win in the Watchung Division game.

The Blue Devils (5-2, 4-0) won their fifth-straight.

Braedan Trajkovski finished 2-for-5 (double) with three RBI and Chris Shinners had a hit and drove in three runs.

Kevin Dowling went 3-for-3 (double, run) and Randy Davis had a 3-for-5 day with two RBI. Leo Mangiamele (RBI), Kellen Edwards (2 runs), Kevin Halleran (run), Tomas Cestero and Owen Callahan (run) each had a hit in the win.

New Providence 2, Union 1

New Providence scored in the bottom of the seventh to get the walk-off win in the Watchung Division game.

Jake Monaco singled and scored twice for the Pioneers (2-6, 1-4) and Sean Reilly singled and had an RBI. Monaco also allowed a run in five innings and Robby Roth earned the win with two scoreless innings and three strikeouts.

Greater Middlesex Conference

Piscataway 5, Colonia 4

Junior Jaden Peace was in charge on the mound by allowing three runs (2 ER) in 6 2/3 innings with eight strikeouts and scattered eight hits and two walks. He threw four shutout innings before Colonia scored three times in the bottom of the fit, one on an error with two outs.

The Chiefs (3-4) got the divisional crossover with a run in the second, three runs in the fourth and one more in the fifth.

With two outs in the bottom of the seventh and the tying run on first base, Peace had a 1-2 count on the batter as he reached his 102nd pitch of the game and exhausted the NJSIAA limit of the five-day,150 pitch rule. Piscataway coach Rob Stoddard had to remove him in the middle of the at-bat.

Mahir Shah came in for the one-pitch save as he got a groundball to the second baseman and he sprinted over for the throw after the first base was off the bag.

Sophomore Jason Hoffman went 2-for-3 with two RBI to lead the Chiefs offensively and junior Troy Hutchinson also roped a two-RBI double to deep left field.

The Chiefs also had hits from Bobby Bressler (2 hits, 1 Run) and Mahir Shah, who had an RBI double. Freshman Dominick Summonte also had 2 hits on the day (1 single, 1 triple), giving him 4 hits in the last 3 games.

Casey Chiola went 2-for-4 with two RBI for Colonia (3-4) and Luke Celebrano was 2-for-3 with a run scored and Timmy Matten went 2-for-4 with a run. Jake Harvatt singled and had an RBI.

Carteret 14, East Brunswick Magnet 2

Justin Santana had three RBI and struck out seven on the mound as Carteret remained undefeated in the Gold Division.

The Ramblers (6-1 overall, 6-0 in division) also earned the series sweep over EB Magnet having won the first game 17-0 last Thursday.

Santana went 2-for-4 and allowed two runs in four innings, scattering nine base runners for the win.

Nick Kee doubled and tripled in a 3-for-3 day with three RBI and Drexler Rodriguez drove in two runs (1-for-2). Also having a hit were Justin Ortiz (triple, RBI, 2 runs), Jared Nelan (2 runs) and James Rodriguez (2 runs). Rashad Bennett scored twice and had an RBI and Eric Thompson had an RBI and scored.

Jhoalvin Ledesma pitched a scoreless inning and also scored.

Jack Clements and Aiden Rosenthal each went 1-for-3 with an RBI for EB Magnet (3-4, 3-3).

Old Bridge 5, East Brunswick 2

Justin Meyer went the distance and Thomas Papeo and Mike Villani each had two hits as Old Bridge stayed hot with a Red Division win.

Meyer, a junior righty, struck out eight and allowed just three hits and two runs in seven innings.

The Knights (7-1, 4-1) have won five straight since a 3-0 loss to St. Joseph on April 8. East Brunswick (4-4, 3-4) scored twice in the bottom of the first inning as Dustin McGuinness slugged a two-run homer on a 1-2 count.

Old Bridge pulled out the win by scoring twice in the third inning and three times in the fourth inning.

Frank Papeo singled in a run in the third inning. In the fourth, Mike Villani and Shaun Bodga had RBI singles.

North Brunswick 6, St. Joseph 1

Zachary Konstantinovsky did it all in North Brunswick’s key Red Division win over St. Joseph.

He slugged two home runs and with four RBI at bat. On the mound, the senior struck out 12 the complete game win and allowed an unearned run off of three hits, three walks and a hit batter.

The Raiders (4-4, 4-3) led 2-1 and sealed the win with four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. They’ll meet St. Joseph (3-3, 2-3) Tuesday in the second game of the series.

Omar Carreras also hit a solo home run for North Brunswick and Conner Levine singled and drove in a run.

Robbie Carvelli doubled and had an RBI for St. Joseph and Bobby Christensen and Mark Gialluisi (double) also had hits.

Monroe 3, South Brunswick 0

Harrison Lollin couldn’t have pitched a much better game.

The junior right-hander allowed just one hit in the complete game shutout with no walk and 15 strikeouts as Monroe won its second straight.

He also went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a double for the Falcons (3-4 overall and in the Red Division).

Lucas White also singled and had an RBI and Aidan Lane finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Nick Sellari walked and scored in the win.

Anthony Servidio pitched well for South Brunswick (3-4, 2-3) in the loss and allowed three runs (2 ER) in five innings.

Spotswood 5, J.P. Stevens 2

Sophomore left-hander Carter Cumiskey is having a breakout season on the mound. He continued his ascent with Monday’s dominant outing.

He struck out 14 in six innings, allowing two runs and five hits and two walks. Breckyn DeAngelis finished with a scoreless inning as the Chargers remained undefeated in the division crossover game.

Spotswood (8-0) scored four times in the top of the fourth to take a 4-0 lead. J.P. Stevens (1-7) rallied with two in the bottom half of the inning, but couldn’t get any closer. Spotswood added a run in the sixth.

Carter Cumiskey also had a hit and two walks with an RBI. His older brother Casey finished 3-for-5 with a double and RBI. Sebby Saracino also singled and drove in a run.

Chris Bottiglieri, DeAngelis and Dylan Kartelias also had hits in the win.

John Papaianni went 2-for-3 for the Hawks with an RBI. Also having hits were Matthew Jason, Mihir Patel, Preet Patel and Justin Bonito.

South Plainfield 13, Somerville 4

Frankie Flannery drove in four runs as South Plainfield earned the impressive non-conference win over Somerville.

The visiting Tigers (4-3) led 5-4 and scored two runs apiece from the third through the sixth innings for the victory.

Sophomore Kevin Penny went six innings to earn the win with five strikeouts. Zack Robinson had three RBI in the win.

J.F. Kennedy 12, Sayreville 2

Jeremy Ricourt had a productive day by going 3-for-4 with four RBI and three runs scored as J.F. Kennedy earned the division crossover win.

The Mustangs (3-3) erupted for six runs in the bottom of the first and sealed it with four more in the fifth inning.

RJ Coleman went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI and Braden Mellage doubled and drove in two runs. Kevin Portoreal had a multi-hit day with and RBI. Also having hits were Gabriel Perez (RBI), Donovan Claiborne and Justin Rodriguez (2 runs).

Claiborne earned the winning by allowing two unearned runs in four innings and Grant Lorentzen finished with two shutout frames.

For Sayreville (5-3), Michael Colonnello homered with two RBI and Thomas Schlaline went 2-for-3.

South Amboy 13, New Brunswick 0

Christian Smith threw four shutout innings and allowed just a hit and two walks with three strikeouts as South Amboy got the Gold Division win.

The host Governors (3-2, 3-2) scored three times in the first, six runs in the second and four more in the third inning.

Isaiah Mercado pitched a scoreless inning with two K’s.

Diego Colon went 2-for-2 with three RBI (double, 2 runs) and Gabriel Albarran was 2-for-2 and scored twice.

Steven Evanski (double) and Steven Evanski each had a hit and drove in two runs. Also lacing a hit with an RBI were Benjamin Smith (3 runs), Jeremy Vasquez (double) and Benjamin Hernandez (double).

Greater Middlesex Conference

Spotswood 11, Piscataway 4

Casey Cumiskey continued his hot start by going 4-for-4 with five RBI, two doubles and three SB and firing six strong innings to complete Spotswood’s Blue Division sweep.

His big day put him in the 100-hit club. Cumiskey entered the game with 99 career base hits in only six games into his 3rd season.

The visiting Chargers (6-0 overall, 5-0 division) led 5-4, but scored three times in the third and three more in the fifth inning for the win. Spotswood has scored in double-digits in every game following the opening 2-1 win over Metuchen.

Cumiskey, a Seton Hall commit, has been a big part of the outburst. He’s now 16-for-25 for a .640 batting average and has 13 RBI. Last season, he hit .516 with a school-record 49 hits.

On the mound Saturday, he allowed four runs (3 ER) in six innings with nine strikeouts, giving up six hits and a walk. Breckyn DeAngelis finished with a perfect inning and a strikeout.

Cumiskey has gotten plenty of help. DeAngelis (RBI) and Shawn Lennan each walked four times Saturday and scored three runs. Sebby Saracino had two RBI and Chris Bottiglieri (run), Dylan Kartelias and Jackson Walsh had hits. Will Buchan also walked four times.

For Piscataway (2-3, 2-1), Bobby Bressler doubled three times in four at-bats and had two RBI. Mahir Shah and Dominick Summonte each had a hit and RBI.

St. Thomas Aquinas 11, Timothy Christian 0

Junior Zachary Diaz picked up his second victory on the season by hurling three shutout innings with five strikeouts and allowing two hits.

The Trojans (4-2) snagged the win in the divisional crossover game that lasted five innings.

Senior Artis Ray was 2-for-2 with a triple and two R`BI. David Ryden, Gavin Sansone, Christian Scaff, Julian Buitrago and Hunter Krainski all chipped in with an RBI apiece in the win.

Joshua Francis and Dylan Spivey had hits for Timothy Christian (1-4).

South River 9, North Plainfield 3

Matt Marques went 2-3 with a double and three RBI as the Rams completed the Blue Division series sweep.

The Rams (4-1, 4-1) scored six runs in the top of the second to seize the lead.

Brendan Lell went 2-for-2 with two RBI and two runs scored for the Rams. Julius Rosado, Parker Lane and Sabastian Susinno also drove in runs in the win.

Gavin Franco picked up the win going four innings with two strikeouts. Lell pitched the final three innings for the Rams.

Davyn Ciriaco and Bryce Leonard (2 hits) had RBI for North Plainfield (0-5, 0-5).

Pennsauken Tech 6, Perth Amboy Magnet 2

Edwin Ortega had a hit and Nelson Concepcion and Johnkelly Jimenez each scored for Perth Amboy Magnet (1-4-1) in the nonconference loss.

Woodbridge 9, Middlesex 8

After a lightning delay, Woodbridge brought the thunder.

The Barrons loaded the bases in the bottom of the eighth and won with a walk-off walk by Tim Deignan.

Woodbridge (5-2 overall, 5-2 in the White Division) will meet Middlesex (5-2, 3-2) in the second game of the series on Tuesday. Down 7-0, Middlesex forced extra innings with two runs in the top of fifth and five runs an inning later.

Woodbridge erupted for 16 hits. They got big games from Ty Kobylakiewicz (4-5, 3 runs, 1 RBI), Xavier Diaz (2-4, 2B, 2 RBI, run,1 BB) and Bryan German (2-4, 2B, 2 RBI).

Eddy Nunez pitched five innings with six strikeouts and allowed two runs (1 ER). Dean Fiore earned the win by pitching 2/3 of an inning.

For Middlesex, Parenti was (2-5, 3B, SB, RBI) and Adam Groel was 2-for-5 and scored twice.

Old Bridge 3, North Brunswick 2

Kyle McSorley’s double in the bottom of the 10th gave Old Bridge a key Red Division win and a series sweep over North Brunswick.

The Knights (6-1 overall, 3-1 in division) won Thursday’s game 6-1 over the Raiders (3-4, 3-3). Old Bridge scored in the fourth and fifth innings and North Brunswick scored in the third inning and in the seventh to force extra innings.

In the pitcher’s duel, Frank Papeo allowed a run in six innings for Old Bridge off of six hits and three walks with nine strikeouts. Thomas Papeo earned the win in relief by allowing a run in three innings.

For North Brunswick, Kyle Anderson went seven innings, giving up two runs.

Thomas Papeo finished 2-for-4 and scored and Shaun Bogda and Justin Meyer also drove in runs for Old Bridge.

EJ Accettura went 3-for-5 for North Brunswick and scored. Yomar Carreras finished 2-for-5 with a triple and RBI and Josh Rodriguez singled and drove in a run.

St. Benedict's 5, Carteret 3

Jhoalvin Ledesma went 2-for-4 and scored and James Rodriguez (double), Justin Ortiz (single) and Drexler Rodriguez each drove in a run in the non-conference loss for Carteret (5-1).

Roselle Park 7, East Brunswick Magnet 5

Aiden Rosenthal went 2-for-3 with two RBI and Scott Pede was 2-for-2 with an RBI as EB Magnet (3-3) dropped the non-conference game. Jack Clements also went 2-for-4.

Skyland Conference

Ridge 5, Scotch Plains-Fanwood 0

Senior righty Brendan Callanan put in an ace-like outing as Ridge got the non-conference win. He allowed just a hit and a walk with nine strikeouts to lead the Red Devils (5-2). Connor Byrne went 3-for-3 with an RBI and Ben Carroll was 1-for-2 with an RBI and was hit by two pitches.

North Hunterdon 13, Voorhees 8

Eddie Appollina hit a grand slam as North Hunterdon rallied for the win after trailing 8-1 after the first inning.

Governor Livingston 21, Memorial 4

Matt Shaffer led Governor Livingston’s hit parade with a 5-for-5 day with four RBI as the Highlanders got the big non-conference win.

The Highlanders improved to 3-3.

Shaffer tripled and doubled in the first inning, added a double in the second and singles in the third and fourth innings. GL jumped to an 8-1 lead first inning and 14-1 after the second.

Matty Diskin homered with two RBI and earned the victory by surrendering a run on two hits in two innings with two strikeouts.

Jason Habedank finished 2-for-2 with three RBI and three runs scored

JP Murphy doubled and drove in four runs and Jonathan Schmidt singled twice with two RBI.

Johnny Schmidt (RBI), George Provel (double, 2 RBI), Anthony DeNora (2 runs), Max Hernandez (RBI, run) and Alex Adornato (RBI, run) each had hits. Harry Woodard scored three times.

J.F. Kennedy 6, Metuchen 0

RJ Coleman fired a gem as J.F. Kennedy got the Blue Division split against Metuchen.

The junior righty was excellent, firing seven shutout innings and allowed two hits and one walk with nine strikeouts.

The host Mustangs (2-3, 2-2) scored in the first and got breathing room with three in the third. Jeremy Ricourt was 3-for- 4 – with two triples – and an RBI. Donovan Claiborne singled and drove in a run. Gabriel Perez (run), Justin Rodriguez and Dev Patel also got hits.

Lucas Malamug and Lucas Weiss got the hits for Metuchen (1-5, 1-5).

South Plainfield 16, South Brunswick 13

South Plainfield won a wild game by scoring three runs in each of the sixth, seventh and eighth innings after trailing 10-6.

The Tigers (3-3 overall, 3-3 in Red Division) earned a key split after South Brunswick (3-3, 2-2) won Thursday 2-0.

Zack Robinson had a massive day by going 4-for-5 with six RBI and a home run and double. Jayden Alvarez also homered and doubled (3-for-3) with three walks and three RBI. Adding to the highlight film was Dom Massaro, who went 4-for-6 with four RBI and a pair of doubles.

Dan Kapsch went 2-for 2 with three walks and scored four times, while Joe Moroney went 2-for-5 with two runs scored in the win.

Sophomore earned the win by throwing the final two innings and did not allow a hit.

Thursday, April 13

Edison 12, Sayreville 2

The Eagles’ bats once again came alive to get the White Division split.

Paul DiCarlo went 4-for-4 with three RBI and Jackson Ferrer went 3-for-3 with a single, double and triple with three RBI to lead Edison to the win

The host Eagles (4-2 overall, 4-2 in the division) added to their 4-2 lead with four runs apiece in the fourth and fifth innings in a 15-hit attack. Edison has scored 72 runs this season. Jordan Martins and Robert Roma each added a hit and an RBI.

Roma (2 2/3 IP, 2 ER) and Connor Murphy (2 1/3 IP, 0 ER, 1 H) combined on the win.

Sayreville (5-2, 4-2), which beat Edison in Game 1 of the series 7-4, had a three-game win streak snapped. Aayush Mehta and Jake Romanello had the Bombers’ hits.

Old Bridge 6, North Brunswick 1

Old Bridge broke open a pitcher’s duel in the seventh inning to claim the Red Division win.

Tied 1-1, Tommy Papeo had the go-ahead RBI and Frank Papeo ripped a three-run homer en route to the five-run inning.

Sophomore right-hander Justin Hascup turned into another excellent start and allowed a run in 6 1/3 innings with 10 strikeouts. Justin Meyer got the last two outs with a strikeout.

The Knights (5-1 overall, 2-1 in division) won three-straight.

Alejandro Jabar pitched well for North Brunswick (3-3, 3-2), but allowed four runs in 6 1/3. Chris Rosario went 2-for-3 with two RBI for the Raiders.

South Brunswick 2, South Plainfield 0

Joey Tuttoilmondo threw another gem with a complete game shutout allowing just one hit and walk in the six innings with 11 strikeouts for the key Red Division win.

The visiting Vikings (3-2, 2-1) scored in the first and fifth innings. Slugger Ethan Fantel singled and drove in a run and Aaron Perna scored twice and went 1-for-3 and walked. Teddy Garcia also went 2-for-3 and Daniel Kirk singled and walked.

Aldo Pigna gave the Tigers (2-3, 2-3) a great start by allowing two runs (1 ER) in six innings off of five hits and two walks with seven strikeouts. Chase Donovan threw a scoreless inning. Dan Kapsch had the lone hit for South Plainfield and Brandon Bickunas drew a walk.

South River 8, North Plainfield 2

Parker Lane went 2-for-2 with a double and triple and two RBI, and Julius Rosado was 3-for-4 with two doubles and four runs scored in the Blue Division win for the Rams (4-1, 2-1).

Danny Devers and Noah Borero also had RBIs for the Rams.

James Zsorey went the distance striking out six with one walk.

Mark Fultz had a double and Chris Valdez a triple for North Plainfield (0-5, 0-5).

East Brunswick 6, Monroe 5

Jack Nelson singled home Drew Mennona in the bottom of the eighth inning to give East Brunswick the dramatic win.

The Bears scored four runs in the sixth inning to take a 5-3 lead via RBI by Mennona, Jason Agrait and John Oranchak.

Monroe scored twice in the top of the seventh to force extra innings.

Oranchak had two hits for East Brunswick (4-2 overall, 3-2 in Red Division). Ryan Schultz, Jack Ryan, Jack Gerould and Dustin McGuinness each had a hit.

Michael Marchese allowed five runs (2 ER) in sevens and Aaron Warned pitched a scoreless eighth.

Michael Ortiz went 2-for-4 with two RBI for Monroe (1-4, 1-4) and Aidan Lane was 3-for-4. Jake Lobue and Harrison Lollin had an RBI, while Lucas White had a hit and RBI and Nick Sellari singled and scored twice.

Spotswood 16, Piscataway 6

Casey Cumiskey went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI as the Chargers rolled to a fifth-consecutive mercy rule victory. Coming into the contest, Spotswood pitching had yet to yield an earned run through five games, but the Chiefs pushed across three in the top of the third to close the gap to 4-3.

The Chargers took command from there behind leadoff man Breckyn DeAngelis, who scored four times and Casey Cumiskey and sophomore John Lubin, who scored three times each. Dylan Kartelias and William Buchan scored twice apiece.

Sophomores Carter Cumiskey and Buchan, along with freshman left fielder Sebby Saracino, drove in two runs each for Spotswood (6-0 overall, 5-0 Blue Division).

Michael Wojcik went 3-for-3 (RBI, double, 3 runs) for Piscataway (2-3, 2-1). Terrance Bell Jr., Jason Hoffman and Jaden Peace each had a hit and RBI.

Woodbridge 13, J.P. Stevens 1

Sahwn Kish allowed one run in four innings and the Barrons broke open a close game with 11 runs in the top of the fifth inning for the 13-1 lead.

Woodbridge (4-2, 4-2) earned the White Division sweep with the victory. AJ Bosch was the table setter by going 3-for-3 with two walks, two stolen bases and a RBI and run scored. Drew Lukachyk was 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI. Tyler Weber drove in three runs 2-for-5, double) and Xavier Diaz was 2-for-2 with two RBI and three runs scored.

Mike Travostino got his first varsity hit and RBI. Tim Deignan (2 RBI, 2 runs), Robert Bunten (2 RBI) and Dean Fiore (double, RBI) each had a hit. Fiore also pitched a shutout inning with three K’s.

Justin Bonito drove in the run for J.P. Stevens (1-5, 0-4) and Tanush Ashok, Jackson Kong, Preet Patel and Ankith Kunduru each had a hit.

Carteret 17, East Brunswick Magnet 0

James Rodriguez homered and had four RBI and Nick threw five no-hit innings, allowing just two walks with 12 strikeouts in the win.

Carteret (4-0 overall, 4-0 in Gold Division) jumped out to a 12-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Kee also tripled and had two hits and an RBI.

Justin Santana finished 3-for-4 with a triple and four RBI. Joining the hit parade with three hits apiece were Rashad Bennett, Eric Thompson, Jhoalvin Ledesma (RBI) and Justin Ortiz (3 RBI). Jared Nelan (2 RBI) and Drexler Rodriguez each had a hit.

East Brunswick Magnet fell to 3-1, 3-1.

South Amboy 14, New Brunswick 4

Daniel Evanski and Diego Colon each had two hits with two RBI as South Amboy got the Gold Division win.

The Governors (1-2, 1-2) scored five runs in the bottom of the first and led 8-2 after the second inning. South Amboy sealed the win with five runs in the fifth.

Benjamin Hernandez was 3-for-4 with an RBI and Weslyn Sanchez doubled and went 2-for-2 with an RBI. Benjamin Smith (RBI), Gabriel Albarran (3 runs) and Jeremy Vasquez (run) each had a hit.

Matthew Stempinski allowed four runs (1 ER) in five innings off of five hits and a walk with six strikeouts.

Amaury Recio doubled with two RBI for New Brunswick.

Metuchen 6, J.F. Kennedy 3

Lucas Weiss went the distance, allowing four hits and two walks for the pitching win and had two hits with an RBI in Metuchen’s White Division victory.

The host Bulldogs (1-4, 1-4) scored three times in the bottom of the second to take a 3-1 lead and added a run in the third and, fourth and fifth innings. J.F. Kennedy (1-3, 1-2) scored twice in the seventh inning, but its rally fell short.

Nicholas Calantoni had two hits with a triple and RBI and Daniel Cordes had two hits and two RBI. Lucas Malamug (RBI), Ike Busch and Max Cohn each had a hit.

Braden Mellage had two RBI for the Mustangs and Jeremy Ricourt went 2-for-4. Justin Rodriguez tripled and drove in a run.

Colonia 17, Perth Amboy 11

Jeff Trinca doubled and tripled with four RBI as Colonia rallied for the White Division win.

The Patriots (3-3, 3-3) trailed 6-0 and 9-4 but scored seven times in the top of the sixth and six in the sixth to pull out the win.

Jake Harvatt (2 RBI) and Dylan Conklin (RBI, triple each went 2-for-4. Luke Celebrano and Cory Pascarella each doubled with two RBI.

Vincent Tripaldi had a hit and earned the win by allowing two runs in four innings off of five hits. Matt Fasulo also laced a hit in the win.

Skyland Conference

Bridgewater-Raritan 4, Hunterdon Central 2

Jason Cozzi delivered a strong start and Devin Goldberg was pesky on the basepaths as Bridgewater-Raritan earned its second-straight key win.

The Panthers (5-1 overall, 4-0 Delaware Division), ranked No. 8 in the Courier News Top 10 beat No. 2 Ridge 3-0 on Tuesday. Now, they have the win over No. 1 Hunterdon Central (4-1, 3-1).

Cozzi allowed two runs in four innings with six strikeouts. Stephen Colon (1 IP) and Cory Rible (5 Ks, 2 IP) each didn’t allow a hit or walk in relief.

Goldberg was 1-for-1 with three walks and a run scored. Ethan Leon and Matt Moore each had a hit and an RBI. Matthew Fattore walked twice and scored. Tim Travisano also singled and scored and Jacob Rosado had a hit.

Nick Augusta and Kaleb McGann each drove in runs for the Red Devils.

Manville 4, South Hunterdon 1

Nick Bentz delivered a great start and went 2-for-3 with an RBI as the Mustangs claimed the key Mountain Division win.

Manville (4-1, 2-1) scored four times in the top of the fourth inning to claim the win.

Bentz allowed a run in six innings off of four hits and two walks with eight strikeouts. Logan Klementovicz finished with a scoreless inning with a K. He also singled and had two RBI.

Joshua Barrios (RBI) and Sebastian Carvajal each added two hits in the win as Manville had 11 hits. Nick Rindgen doubled with an RBI and Tyler Canica, Elijah Capone and Geoffrey Mathis each had a hit.

Nate Lawton went 2-for-2 with a walk for South Hunterdon (2-2, 2-1) and Anthony Venettone had an RBI.

Delaware Valley 20, Bound Brook 7

John Croasdale went 3-for-3 with four RBI as the Terriers laced out 14 hits in the Mountain Division win.

Delaware Valley (3-2, 2-1) scored eight times in the bottom of the second and 12 more in the third inning.

Also having multi-hits in the win were Danny Shaprio (3-for-4, 3 RBI), Cooper Fransen (2-for-3, 2 RBI) and Anthony Saniscalchi (2-for-5, 3 RBI).

Jack Reardon (3 RBI), Kevin Hults (2 RBI), Stoy Fohring (RBI) and Ryan Auten each had a hit. Michael Kelly walked, was hit by two pitches and scored three times.

Jake Anderson doubled and had two RBI for Bound Brook (3-2, 2-2) and Damian Ogonowski (double) and Ronny Pimentel (2-for-3) each drove in a run.

Pingry 7, Gill St. Bernard's 2

Alex Payne struck out 10 in six innings without allowing an earned run and Jake Francis doubled and drove in three runs as Pingry got the Valley Division win.

The Big Blue (3-3, 3-0) scored in the bottom of the third to take a 3-2 lead and added a run an inning later and three more in the sixth to seal the game.

Payne scattered five hits and three walks. Gavin Wang finished with a scoreless frame and three strikeouts.

Nick Lorenzo and Matt Carrieri each went 1-for-3 with an RBI and Jason Weaver had an RBI. James Bergman finished 2-for-4 and scored twice and stole a pair of bases.

Zack Wendell went 2-for-3 for Gill St. Bernard’s (1-5, 0-3) and Graham Berry and Matthew Park each doubled with an RBI.

Franklin 10, Montgomery 1

The hot-swinging Warriors up 10 runs as Izaiah Robbinson went 2-for-3 with RBI in the Raritan Division win.

Franklin (4-3, 2-2) got multi-hits from Veer Singh (RBI) and Myles Castillo (run), while Ryan Piro tripled with two RBI and Mike Schiermeyer singled and drove in two runs. Having a hit apiece were Jacob Cruz, Lawrence Ho and Samuele Mattia.

Ryan Mrotek allowed one unearned run in five innings off of a hit and three walks with three strikeouts. Castillo and Mattia each pitched a scoreless inning.

Aiden Inoue went 2-for-4 for Montgomery (3-1, 3-1).

Somerville 12, Rutgers Prep 8

Ty Akins allowed one run in three innings with four strikeouts and to earn the victory on the mound and singled with three RBI in Somerville’s win.

The visiting Pioneers (3-2 overall, 3-1 in Raritan Division) trailed 7-6 but scored two runs in each of the final three innings to pull out the division win.

Brayden Keller went 4-for-6 with a pair of doubles and two RBI, while CJ Banos was 2-for-4 with two RBI and Robby Wright was 2-for-4 (2 runs). Andrew Deangilis added a single and RBI and Chase Wengryn scored twice and reached base via a single, a walk and a hit by pitch.

For Rutgers Prep (1-5, 0-4), Nick Pizzie and Joey Dwek each hit homers and Andrew Parisi was 2-for-2 with two runs, two doubles and two walks. Cody Rullo was 2-for-3.

Ridge 3, Watchung Hills 1

Righty Connor Byrne pitched like an ace by going the distance and allowing a run off of four hits and two walks with 11 strikeouts in the Delaware Division game.

The host Red Devils (4-2, 2-2) scored twice in the second and once in the sixth. The Warriors (0-5, 0-4) rallied with two runs in the top of the seventh, but Byrne closed it out.

Nick Sellitti (RBI) and Matt Shawah each went 2-for-3. Ben Carroll (triple, RBI), Julian Kielb, Luke Somelofske and Nick Rossi added a hit apiece in the win.

Matt Novello went 2-for-3 for Watchung Hills.

Hillsborough 9, Immaculata 0

Senior left-hander Graham Ross twirled six shutout innings with five strikeouts scattering seven hits and three walks in the Delaware Division win.

The host Raiders (2-5, 2-2) scored five times in the second inning to seize the lead. Nolan Collison pitched the final inning with three strikeouts.

Avery Whitney had a 2-for-4 day with three RBI and a double. Adding hits in the win were Ross (RBI), Alex Reiling (RBI, double), Andrew Advani, Paul Steele and Alexander Orr.

Owen Schilling went 3-for-4 for Immaculata (1-4, 1-3) and Colin Kassai was 2-for-4.

Bernards 14, Voorhees 0

Matt Giunta slugged a grand slam and went 2-for-4 and Charlie Gonella threw five shutout innings with five strikeouts in Bernards’ big Valley Division win.

The host Mountaineers (2-3, 1-1) jumped to a 4-0 lead after the first inning, added a run in the second and erupted for eight run in the third inning.

Tyler Helpinstill (4 runs), Gonella and Henry Depew each had two hits. Matt Falzarano doubled with three RBI and Connor Laverty singled with two RBI. Evan Hoeckele (RBI), Terrence Hanratty (RBI) and Ryan Tondo each had a hit.

Voorhees (2-2, 2-1) got hits from Brandon Aulert, Nolan Banach, Ray Schiavo and Matteo Tramutola.

Union Catholic 7, Union 4

Andrew Benvenuto singled and drove in four runs and Thomas Bonner didn’t allow a hit in 3 1/3 innings (3 BB) to lead Union County in the comeback victory.

The Vikings (3-4) trailed 4-1, but scored six times in the bottom of the sixth to put out the win.

Matthew Mendez had a hit and three RBI for UC and Johnny Velez had a hit and scored. Ethan Beaumont added an RBI.

Wednesday, April 12

Greater Middlesex Conference

Middlesex 11, Hillsborough 1

Aidan Kozak was a dual star for Middlesex in the non-conference win over Hillsborough.

The senior homered and tripled, finishing 3-for-4 with five RBI. On the mound, the left-hander went the distance allowing a run in six innings off of six strikeouts and two walks with seven strikeouts.

The visiting Blue Jays led 6-0 and sealed the win with five runs in the fifth. Justin Gordon went 4-for-4 and scored four times. Jack Adamski singled and had two RBI and Owen Reynolds also drove in two runs.

Additionally, Adam Groel and Thomas Lavornia each singled and scored and Michael Canavesio singled.

For Hillsborough (1-5), Matt Antonelli went 2-for-3 and Matt Westcott drove in Liam Gallagher.

Dunellen 12, Highland Park 2

Ryan Hutchins went the distance and drove in three runs as Dunellen won its third-straight Silver Division game.

The host Destroyers (3-0, 3-0) led 3-1 and broke it open with eight runs in the third inning.

The sophomore righty allowed two unearned runs in five innings off five hits and two walks with strikeouts. At bat, he went 2-for-3 and scored three times. He also walked and stole three bases.

Having two hits apiece in the 14-hit attack were Jacob Manna (2 RBI), Corbin Evans (2 runs), and Luke Shealy (double, 2 RBI). Also lacing a hit with an RBI were Michael Dow, Mark Stein and Juan Luis Rodriguez.

Owen Roth-Zappo had a hit and RBI for Highland Park (2-3, 2-3) and Aidan O'Connell went 2-for-3.

St. Joseph 11, Gloucester Catholic 6

Connor Drury drove in three runs and Bobby Christensen homered as St. Joseph took a non-conference win over state power Gloucester Catholic.

The host Falcons (3-2) scored four times in the bottom of the second and six more in the third inning to seize the lead.

Drury finished 3-for-4 and scored twice and Christensen had two RBI. Mark Gialluisi (2 RBI), Joseph Zammitti (2 RBI) and Josiah Brown each added two hits and Josiah Brown singled and scored twice. Tyler Delvecchio also crossed home two times.

Jimmy Mulvaney closed the game with four shutout innings and allowed just three hits and he struck out four.

Greater Middlesex Conference

Old Bridge 10, Ferris 4

Sophomore Akhil Penkala had a big day for the Knights and Thomas Papeo was a home run short of the cycle in their nonconference win.

He had a pinch-hit two-RBI single and allowed one run in the final three innings with six strikeouts. The Knights (4-1) have won two-straight non-GMC games and will enter a key series against North Brunswick on Thursday and Saturday.

Tied 3-3, Old Bridge three times in the top of the fifth and added a run in the sixth and three more in the seventh inning for insurance runs.

Luke Hagen had a solid start by allowing three runs in four innings with six strikeouts.

Papeo went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Mike Villani had a 2-for-4 day with an RBI and he scored three times. Adam Scire (2 runs, BB) and Frank Papeo (run, 2 BB) also had hits. Justin Meyer, Joshua Martinez and Kyle McSorley each drove in a run.

Colonia 3, Perth Amboy 2

Senior right-hander Dylan Conklin put in an ace-like effort as Colonia edged Perth Amboy in a White Division game.

The Patriots (2-3, 2-3) won their second-straight after beating Edison to split that series. Colonia scored a run in the bottom of the first, third and fifth innings to defeat Perth Amboy.

Conklin went the distance and allowed two runs with seven strikeouts and gave up five hits and a walk. Casey Chiola singled and had an RBI and Luke Celebrano, Matt Fasulo and Conklin each had hits.

Melvin Jiminiz (RBI) and Sebastian Aponte each had two hits for Perth Amboy (0-5, 0-3).

Somerset Tech 3, East Brunswick Magnet 0

Senior right-hander Ryan DelSordo won a pitcher’s duel as Somerset Tech won the Gold Division game.

Somerset Tech (1-2, 1-2) scored twice in the top of the fourth and once in the sixth. DelSordo hurled seven shutout innings with 10 strikeouts and allowed two hits and three walks.

Joel Linares went 2-for-3 with an RBI in the win and Robert Pasquale singled and drove in a run.

Ryan Dellafave allowed three runs and struck out 10 in seven innings for EB Magnet (3-1, 3-1).

Carteret 11, South Amboy 1

Justin Santana had an all-star day to lead Carteret to the Blue Division win. The junior righty had 12 strikeouts and allowed one run in the six-inning complete game off of three hits and a walk. He also went 2-for-3 with two RBI

The Ramblers (4-0, 4-0) broke open a 1-1 tie with an eight-run eruption in the bottom of the fourth inning.

James Rodriguez finished 2-for-3 with three RBI and Jhoalvin Ledesma singled and drove in two runs. Eric Thompson, Jared Nelan and Nick Kee each added a hit and an RBI.

Steven Evanski had a hit and an RBI for South Amboy (1-2, 1-2).

Sayreville 7, Edison 4

Aayush Mehta drove in three runs had a two-inning save as the Bombers remained hot in the White Division win.

Sayreville (5-1, 4-1) won its third-straight game and will meet Edison (3-2, 3-2) again on Thursday.

Down 3-0, Sayreville erupted for seven runs in the bottom of the fifth. Mehta finished 3-for-4 and Mikey Robinson singled with two RBI and Tommy Schlaline singled and drove in a run.

Sophomore right Jimmy Kehoe earned his first career varsity victory by allowing four runs in five innings with six strikeouts.

Jordan Martins homered and tripled for Edison with two RBI and Charlie Taub also hit a homer with two RBI.

J.F. Kennedy 5, St. Thomas Aquinas 4

Donovan Claiborne’s walk-off hit in the eighth inning completed the Mustangs comeback in the Blue Division game.

St. Thomas Aquinas scored three runs in the top of the sixth to take a 4-1 lead. J.F. Kennedy responded with three runs in the bottom of the seventh to tie it 4-4 and force extra innings.

JFK’s Justin Rodriguez had two hits including the game-tying knock in the seventh inning. Jeremy Ricourt, Kevin Portoreal (RBI) and Gabriel Perez (RBI) each had two hits in the win. RJ Coleman also singled and drove in a run.

Grant Lorentzen earned his first varsity victory with two innings of shutout relief for the Mustangs (1-2, 1-1).

David Ryden had a big game for the Trojans (3-2, 2-2) by going 2-for-3 with a HR and three RBI.

South River 4, Metuchen 2

Julius Rosado went the distance for the Rams giving up five hits with 11 strikeouts and walking two to complete the Blue Division sweep.

The host Rams (3-1, 3-1) took the lead in the third when Joseph Lepore stole home on a first and third double steal. South River added to the lead in the fifth on a two-out, two-run double by Matt Marques.

Jaiden Rodriguez added an RBI-single for the Rams last run.

Metuchen (0-4, 0-4) made it interesting in the sixth on RBI singles by Marcus Malamug and Dan Cortes. The Bulldogs had first and second with no outs, but Rosado struck out the next three batters to end the inning.

Malamug went the distance for Metuchen giving up four runs (3 ER) on three hits with five strikeouts.

North Brunswick 1, Monroe 0

The two aces got outs after outs.

In the end, North Brunswick pushed across a run and Zachary Konstantinovsky won a classic pitcher’s duel.

Konstantinovsky the complete-game shutout allowing just a hit and two HBP with a strikeout.

The Raiders (3-1 overall, 3-1 in Red Division) scored in the top of the second on Chris Rosario’s RBI.

Monroe’s Harrison Lollin allowed the one run in the CG off of four hits and he struck out 11. Nick Sellari got the lone hit for the Falcons (1-3, 1-3).

North Brunswick completed the sweep and meet Old Bridge in a series later in the week after Wednesday’s nonconference game against Notre Dame. Monroe next has a series with East Brunswick.

Woodbridge 14, J.P. Stevens 4

Ty Kobylakiewicz highlighted Woodbridge’s offensive outburst in the first game of the White Division series. The teams meet again Thursday.

The Barrons (3-2, 3-2) snapped a two-game slide after a 14-4 win over Colonia on April 6. Tuesday, their bats were again display. Kobylakiewicz went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and a triple (4 RBI).

Lacing two hits apiece and scoring twice were AJ Bosch, Shawn Kish (double) and Tyler Weber. Dean Fiore, Tim Deignan and Drew Lukachyk each had a hit and RBI, while Xavier Diaz doubled and scored twice. Ryan Leach earned the win with seven strikeouts in the five-inning game.

Mihir Patel gave the Hawks the early lead with a two-run homer in the first inning. Ankith Kunduru and Matthew Jason also drove in runs for JP (1-4, 0-3).

South Plainfield 12, East Brunswick 1

Jay Alvarez fueled South Plainfield’s big offensive day as the Tigers got 10 hits to get the Red Division split against East Brunswick.

The visiting Tigers (2-2, 2-2) scored twice in the first inning and then put up six runs in the second and four in the fourth for the five-inning win.

Alvarez homered and doubled with four RBI, while Zack Robinson went 2-for-3 with two RBI, a double and a walk. Brandon Bickunas added a hit and two RBI and Mike Sbailo Aldo Pigna each got their first career varsity hits. Dom Massaro (RBI), Nick Irizarry (RBI) and Dan Kapsch each had hits and Joe Moroney drove in a run.

Ashton Donovan slowed down the hot East Brunswick offense by allowing one run off three hits and two walks with seven strikeouts.

Jack Gerould hit a solo home run for the Bears (3-2, 2-2) in the first inning and Drew Mennona and Jack Nelson (double) had hits.

Dunellen 10, Perth Amboy Magnet 5

Dunellen 12, Perth Amboy Magnet 2

Dunellen got a combined 22 runs and 20 hits in the double-header win in the Silver Division win.

In the 10-5 win, Jacob Manna allowed three unearned runs off of three hits and two walks with seven strikeouts and went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Ryan Hutchins stole seven bases and was 2-for-2 with two walks and four runs scored. Juan Luis Rodriguez and Mark Stein each had two hits and scored a run. Myles Harrada also had a hit and RBI.

Isaiah Nieves went 2-for-4 with three RBI for Perth Amboy Magnet.

In the 12-2 victory, Corbin Evans had a 3-for-4 game with three RBI and a double and triple and he stole three bases. Angelo DeNapoli doubled and had a pair of RBI, while Harrada was 2-for-4 with an RBI and three runs scored. Rodriguez had a hit and RBI and Michael Dow and Mark Stein each singled and scored. Additionally, Hutchins walked twice with four SB, an RBI and two runs. Desmond Condit walked three times and scored.

Johnkelly Jimenez had two hits and an RBI for the Raiders and Zachary Lenardo doubled and had an RBI.

Dunellen is 2-0, 2-0 and PA Magnet is 1-2-1.

Spotswood 13, North Plainfield 0

Jackson Walsh threw four shutout innings with 10 strikeouts and Carter Cumiskey drove in four runs on a 2-for-2 day to lead Spotswood.

The Chargers (5-0 overall, 4-0 in the Blue Division) have now outscored opponents 51-1.

Breckyn DeAngelis (2 BB) and Will Buchan added a hit and RBI apiece in the win. Casey Cumiskey, Dylan Kartelias, Mason Bitalla also had hits. Tim Banko finished with a shutout inning.

Davyn Ciriaco went 3-for-2 for North Plainfield (0-4, 0-4).

Skyland Conference

Manville 14, Belvidere 3

Joshua Barrios had a pair of RBI (2 hits) and struck out 11 as Manville had the big Mountain Division win.

The Mustangs (3-1, 1-1) erupted for five runs in the bottom of the first and nine more in the second for the early 14-1 lead.

Barrios allowed three runs (2 ER) in the five-inning complete game and allowed three hits and three walks. Nick Rindgen went 3-for-3 with an RBI. James Mascola (hit, 3 runs, 2 RBI), Geoffrey Mathis (hit, 3 runs, RBI, 3 HBP) and Tyler Canica (hit, 2 RBI) also had big days. Additionally, Elijah Capone, Josh D'Ambrosio and Sebastian Carvajal had hits with an RBI and Nick Bentz singled and scored.

Bridgewater-Raritan 3, Ridge 0

Junior righty Matthew Fattore threw a gem and swung a hot bat as the Panthers got a big-time win over Ridge, No. 2 in the Courier News Top 10 ranking for area Skyland and Union teams. No. 8 Bridgewater-Raritan (4-1) scored in the bottom of the first and twice in the fourth inning.

Fattore twirled five shutout innings, allowing three hits and a walk with three strikeouts. Cory Rible earned the save with two shutout frames and gave up just a hit.

Fattore also went 2-for-3 and scored and Matt Moore singled twice with an RBI and run scored. Ethan Leon also singled with an RBI and Michael Fattore and James Turchi (run) each had a hit. Devin Goldberg also drove in a run.

Julian Kielb went 2-for-3 for Ridge (3-2).

Hunterdon Central 13, Immaculata 4

Noah Baird homered on a 2-for-4 day (3 RBI, 3 runs, BB) as the Red Devils erupted for 18 hits in a balanced attack. Hunterdon Central had eight hitters with multi-hits.

Nick Augusta (2 RBI, double, triple), Kyle Yasunas (2 RBI, double), Logan Escamilla (RBI), Jimmie Lundari (RBI, run), Mike Contiliano (run), Kaleb McGann (double, RBI) and Andrew Nguyen (2 runs) each had two hits. Jared Cassella doubled with an RBI and Tate Lafererra singled.

For Immaculata (1-3), Jayson Labrador homered, doubled and had three RBI.

Hillsborough 15, Watchung Hills 2

Andrew Advani (3 hits) and Graham Ross (double) each drove in three runs as Hillsborough erupted with eight runs in the top of the second in the Delaware Division game. The Raiders (1-4, 1-2) were boosted by Shailen Patel (1-for-2, 2 BB, 2 RBI, 3 runs), Matt Westcott (single, walk, 2 RBI) and Max Romanok (hit, 2 RBI).

Cole Jara joined the hit parade (2-for-4, double, RBI, 2 runs) and Garrett Herndon walked and scored three times and Avery Whitney walked, was hit by two pitches, scored twice and drove in a run.

Matt Antonelli allowed two unearned runs in the five-inning complete game with five strikeouts.

Nick Martino went 1-for-1 and drove in both runs for Watchung Hills (0-4, 0-3).

Somerville 2, North Hunterdon 1

Senior left-hander Brayden Keller slowed down a hot North Hunterdon team by allowing a run in five innings off of just two hits and two walks with four strikeouts.

Chase Wengryn finished with two scoreless innings in the Raritan Division game.

The Pioneers (2-2, 2-1) pushed across runs in the bottom of the second and fourth innings. Ty Akins went 2-for-2 and scored with a double and walk and Karson Wengryn tripled and had an RBI.

CJ Banos and Robby Wright each had a hit in the win.

Eddie Appollina went 2-for-3 with an RBI that scored Tyler Anderson (double) to lead North Hunterdon (3-1, 2-1). Wyatt Demeo and Alex Famolari also had hits.

South Hunterdon 8, Bound Brook 4

In a key early Mountain Division game, Anthony Venettone went 3-for-3 with a double, a walk and two RBI for South Hunterdon.

The Eagles (2-1, 2-0) scored twice in the second inning, four times in the third and two more in the fourth inning.

Aaron Parisi went 2-for-4 and scored twice and Cooper Currie, Danny Rose and Aaron Zalescik each had a hit with an RBI. Jack Godown also had an RBI.

Dillon Gallagher earned the win by allowing two runs (1 ER) in four innings with five strikeouts. Bound Brook fell to 3-1, 2-1.

Voorhees 9, Warren Hills 4

Jeff Manning drove in three runs on a 2-for-3 day as Voorhees got the Valley Division win. The Vikings (2-1 overall, 2-0 in division) scored three runs in the bottom of the first innings, two more in the second and four in the fourth. Jeremy Jordan (2 runs) and Brandon Aulert (run) each went 2-for-3, while Luke Ansbach singled, walked twice and scored three times. Ray Schiavo and Matteo Tramutola each added a hit.

Montgomery 10, Phillipsburg 6

Jeremy Wacker had a hit with two RBI and earned the win on the mound with five solid innings as Montgomery earned the Raritan Division win.

The visiting Cougars (3-0, 3-0) broke open the game with a five-run fifth inning.

Wacker allowed four runs (3 ER) to keep his team in the game. Montgomery’s Aiden Inoue finished 2-for-4 with three RBI and John Donahue doubled and drove in two runs. Lucas Heines (RBI) and Justin Swerdlow (2 BB, 2 runs) each had a hit.

Additionally, Troy Jenkins scored three times and Ryan Formica scored twice.

Summit 8, Bernards 4

Matt Giunta was 2-for-4 with two RBI and doubled and drove in a run as Bernards (1-3) fell in the Skyland-Union crossover game. Evan Hoeckele, Matt Falzarano and Alex Fragassi each had a hit and scored.

Ramapo 11, Delaware Valley 4 Anthony Saniscalchi had two hits and homered, while Stoy Fohring and Jack Reardon each had two hits for Delaware Valley (2-2).

Union County

Governor Livingston 11, New Providence 3

Matthew Shaffer doubled twice and drove in four runs as the Highlanders got a big win over New Providence. Keith Mann earned the win for Governor Livingston (2-2) and allowed three runs in five innings with six strikeouts. Michael Liloia finished with two shutout innings.

Dominic Labisi had two hits with three RBI. Also having big days at the plate for GL were Michael Basile (3-for-3, RBI), George Provel (2-for-4, double, triple, 2 RBI) and Johnny Schmidt (double, BB, 3 runs).

Jake Monaco and Luca Vitale (triple) each had two hits and an RBI.

Cranford 14, Scotch Plains-Fanwood 2

Jaden Carpien went 2-for-3 as Scotch Plains-Fanwood (3-2, 1-1) lost in the Watchung Division game to undefeated Cranford (5-0, 2-0)

Michael Pellegrino, Josiah Sharpe and Chris Wilson each had hits as Union Catholic (2-3, 0-2) lost to Elizabeth (3-2, 2-0) in a Mountain Division game.

Dinelson Dominguez-Morel went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI and singled with two RBI for Plainfield (0-4).

Greater Middlesex Conference

East Brunswick 12, Piscataway 3

East Brunswick entered the season hoping to improve on its team batting average of .230 from last year.

Well, the Bears have certainly been swinging hot bats and beat Piscataway in the GMC division crossover for their third straight win.

East Brunswick (3-1) had eight hits and Piscataway (2-2) committed four errors. Up 6-3, EB scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth to break open the game.

Jack Nelson (double) and Ryan Schultz each laced two hits with two RBI. Drew Mennona had a big game with a double, a walk and two runs scored and an RBI. John Oranchak doubled and scored and Jason Agrait and Michael Marchese each had a hit. Dustin McGuinness drove in two runs and scored twice.

Aaron Warner earned the win by allowing three runs in four innings with four strikeouts and Lukas Meyer pitched three shutout innings with four K’s.

Terrance Bell Jr. (double) and Troy Hutchinson each had two hits for Piscataway with an RBI apiece. Bobby Bressler, Jaden Peace and Mahir Shah each added a hit and crossed home plate.

Sayreville 15, Woodbridge 5

Sayreville continued its hot start by completing the sweep of Woodbridge with an offensive outburst.

The Bombers (4-1 overall, 3-1 in White Division) lived up to their name with 12 hits in a balanced attack.

Sayreville, which won the first game of the series 3-0 on Saturday, led 3-2 but scored six runs in each of the fourth and fifth innings.

Jake Romanello led the wat with a 3-for-4 day with two RBI and a pair of runs scored. Also driving in two runs apiece were Michael Robinson (double), Aidan Crimmins (hit) and Thomas Schlaline (2-for-3).

Jaydon Stio singled and had three RBI and Michael Novak (triple, RBI), AJ Zapoticzny (hit, BB, run) and Michael Colonnello (BB, run) also contributed to the offense.

Shawn Kish and Drew Lukachyk each had two RBI for Woodbridge (2-2, 2-2).

Old Bridge 8, Marlboro 6

Old Bridge had another big offensive game in the nonconference win over Marlboro.

The game was tied 3-3 after the first inning, but the Knights (3-1) seized the lead with two runs in the bottom of the second and three in the third inning.

Old Bridge has scored 28 runs in its three wins.

Justin Meyer went 3-for-4 with two RBI and Kyle McSorley (double) and Justin Hascup each drove in two runs. Thomas Papeo (RBI, 2 runs) and Joshua Martinez (run) each had a two-hit day and Evan Smith (RBI) and Mike Villani (run) each added a hit.

Middlesex 9, J.P. Stevens 6

Dom Parenti and Tomas Lavornia each homered as Middlesex jumped out to a 5-0 lead en route to the high-scoring White Division win.

The Blue Jays (4-1, 3-1) got 10 hits to complete the sweep, Middlesex won 3-1 in Saturday’s game.

Lavornia (3-for-4), Parenti and Adam Groel each had two RBI in the win and Jack Adamski slashed two doubles and had and RBI. Michael Canavesio went 2-for-3 and Justin Gordon had a hit, walked and was hit by a pitch and scored.

For the Hawks (1-3, 0-2), Jackson Fong homered and Mihir Patel went 3-for-4 with three RBI.

Colonia 14, Edison 9

Jake Harvatt had a huge day with five RBI as Colonia won a slugfest over Edison to get a split in the White Division series.

The Patriots (1-3, 1-3) exploded for eight runs in the top of the fourth inning to take a 13-6 lead.

Harvatt, just a sophomore, went 4-for-5 with a double, a triple and two singles. Jeff Trinca was 2-for-4 with a walk, a double and three RBI. Dylan Conklin added two RBI and singled.

Luke Celebrano (RBI) and Matt Fasulo (RBI) each had two hits. Joining the 15-hit parade were Dylan Chiera (RBI, double), Casey Chiola (RBI, double), Timmy Matten (RBI) and Colin Kroner.

Edison (3-1, 3-1) had 13 hits and has now scored 56 runs this season. Charlie Taub went 3-for-4 with three RBI and doubled. Jackson Ferrer (double), Jaxon Appelman (RBI, triple) and Robert Roma (RBI, double) each had two hits. Jordan Martins (RBI), Anthony Calantoni and Matt Yascko each single.

Spotswood 13, Perth Amboy 0

Sophomore Carter Cumiskey had a big all-around game in Spotswood's win in the inter-division game. He threw five no-hit innings with nine strikeouts and scattered five walks and slugged a home run and went 2-for-3 with three RBI. Casey Cumiskey was 3-for-4 with an RBI and Sebby Saracino and Will Buchan each had two hits. Also having a hit with an RBI were Chris Bottiglieri, Breckyn DeAngelis, Dylan Kartelias and Jackson Walsh.

West Windsor-Plainsboro South 9, South Brunswick 8

West Windsor-Plainsboro South scored five runs in the top of the sixth to take the lead over South Brunswick. The Vikings (2-2) scored in the bottom of the seventh but their rally fell short in the nonconference game.

Brian Culhane fell a home run short of the cycle for the Vikings on a 3-for-4 day with two RBI. Ryan Kessler (2-for-4, 2 RBI) and Ethan Fantel (2-for-4, double, run) continued their hot starts in the loss. Additionally, Daniel Kirk and Joey Sanchez each had two RBI.

Skyland Conference

Ridge 1, Pingry 0

Sophomore right-hander Aiden Stieglitz had an impressive outing in his first varsity start by striking out nine batters in five shutout innings allowing just three hits and a walk.

His emergence will be a great complement to seniors Connor Byrne, Brendan Callanan and Luke Somelofske.

Somelofske finished Monday with two shutout innings and allowed just a walk with two strikeouts.

Ridge (3-1) scored in the top of the second as Steven Dresner drove in Somelofske. Callanan and Nick Rossi (double) each had two hits.

Jake Francis went the distance for Pingry (2-2) in the pitcher’s duel and struck out nine.

Bernards 2, Mendham 1

Junior righty Evan Hoeckele threw a gem by allowing a run in seven innings with nine strikeouts, scattering five hits and a walk as Bernards won the nonconference game.

Hoeckele completed 11 innings last season, but seems primed for a breakout season for the Mountaineers as he won Monday’s pitching duel.

Bernards (1-2) scored a run in the top of the first and another in the fifth.

Tyler Helpinstill had two hits and both RBI and Matt Giunta also had two hits (double) and scored both times. Hoeckele, Charlie Gonella and Connor Laverty each added hits in the win.

Saturday, April 8

Greater Middlesex Conference

Middlesex 3, J.P. Stevens 1

Senior lefty Adam Groel started some games last season, but the Blue Jays expect him to take on a bigger role on the mound this spring.

He’s off to a great start after throwing five innings and allowing just an unearned run with five strikeouts in Middlesex’s White Division win. He gave up five hits, two walks and hit a batter. Alfonso Esposito finished with two scoreless innings and three strikeouts.

Middlesex (3-1 overall, 2-1 in division) jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first frame. Tomas Lavornia (RBI, run) and Justin Gordon (run) each singled twice in three at-bats. Dom Parenti singled and had an RBI, while Owen Reynolds and Esposito had hits.

J.P. Steven’s Justin Bonito struck out 12 in going the distance and allowed seven hits and one walk. John Papaianni went 2-for-3 for the Hawks.

The teams meet again in Monday’s finale.

Sayreville 3, Woodbridge 0

Sophomore right-hander Thomas Schlaline threw 2 1/3 innings last season, but is expected to help make up some of the 92 innings that Sayreville graduated.

So far, not bad. Schlaline helped cool the hot-hitting Barrons in Saturday’s win. He threw six shutout innings with six strikeouts and allowed three hits and three walks. Aayush Mehta finished with a perfect inning and two K’s.

Woodbridge (2-1, 2-1), one of the favorites in the White Division, scored 21 runs in the opening sweep over Colonia. Sayreville improved to 3-1, 2-1.

At the plate, Schlaline went 1-for-3 with two RBI and Mehta was 1-for-3 with a stolen base and an RBI. Other top Sayreville hitters included Jake Romanello 1-for-3 (2 R, 2 SB) and Michael Colonnello singled and drove in a run.

For the Barrons, Tyler Weber went 1-for-2 with a walk.

Edison 10, Colonia 1

Freshman Robert Roma had quite a varsity debut in Saturday’s White Division win. The left-hander allowed one run with nine strikeouts in four innings, giving up three hits and two walks. He also tripled and drove in three runs.

The Eagles (3-0, 3-0) have scored 47 runs in its first three games. Saturday, they scored four times in the top of the first and led 8-1 after three.

Dom Innocenti finished with three shutout innings and four strikeouts.

Jaxon Appelman went 3-for-4 (2 R) and was a home run away from the cycle. Jackson Ferrer (2 RBI, 2 R), Matt Yascko (R) and Paul DiCarlo each had two hits, while Jordan Martins doubled and had an RBI.

For Colonia (0-3, 0-3), Jeff Trinca singled and had an RBI that scored Luke Celebrano.

St. Thomas Aquinas 5, J.F. Kennedy 0

Junior left-hander Jon Misura is looking for a breakout season on the mound. Saturday, he again gave the Trojans strong pitching by tossing six innings of shutout ball, striking out 13 and allowing just two hits and walk.

Artis Ray, Pete Fizer and David Ryden all picked up RBI for the Trojans (3-1, 2-1).

Junior Zachary Diaz was 2-for-3 with a double while sophomore Reed Kerstetter was 1-for-3 on the day at the plate for the Trojans.

South River 7, Metuchen 1

Senior Gavin Franco went 5 2/3 innings giving up a run and striking out three in the Rams win. Julius Rosado threw a perfect 1 1/3 with a strikeout.

Joseph Lepore was 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored for the Rams (2-1, 2-1). Matt Marques, Brendan Lell and James Zsorey each drove in runs, while Parker Lane drove in two. Rosado scored twice.

Dan Cordes drove in a run for Metuchen (0-3, 0-3).

South Brunswick 12, Perth Amboy 5

Slugger Ethan Fantel went 3-for-4 with an RBI and double as the Vikings scored six runs in the top of the fourth inning to take a 6-4 lead en route to the division crossover win.

South Brunswick (2-1, 2-1) added four runs in the sixth and twice in the seventh inning. Teddy Garcia went 2-for-3 (BB) and two runs scored and Will Haman was 2-for-4. Also having hits in the win were Ryan Kessler (RBI, 2 runs), Brian Culhane (run), Daniel Kirk (RBI, run), Will Sassman and Jake Graci (run).

Melvin Jiminiz and Sebastian Aponte each had two hits for the Panthers (0-3) and Julian Collado had a double and RBI. Cesar Suriel also drove in a run.

Josiah Brown drove in two runs and Jimmy Mulvaney and Matthew Friedman combined on a shutout to lead St. Joseph to the Red Division split against Old Bridge.

The Falcons (2-2, 2-2) scored three runs in the bottom of the first and the pitching did the rest.

Mulvaney allowed just a hit and a walk with six strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings and Friedman gave uo two hits and three walks with two strikeouts in 3 2/3.

Brown went 1-for-3 with a double and Mark Gialluisi was 2-for-3 with a double and scored, while Joseph Zammitti went 2-for-3. Adding hits were Connor Drury (RBI), William Ramsay, Christian Azcona (run), Robbie Carvelli (run) and Bobby Christensen.

Justin Meyer was 2-for-3 for the Knights (2-1, 2-1) and Evan Smith singled.

East Brunswick 9, South Plainfield 3

Junior righty Michael Marchese struck out 10 and allowed one run off of three hits and a walk as East Brunswick took the first game against South Plainfield.

The Red Division series concludes Tuesday at East Brunswick.

The Bears (2-1, 2-1) lashed out 11 hits and put up five runs in the top of the second to take a 5-1 lead.

Jason Agrait went 3-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and scored three runs and Dustin McGuinness went 3-for-5 (2 RBI, run, 2B). Jack Nelson (RBI, 2 runs) and Jack Ryan (2 BB, RBI, run) each had two hits. Marchese also singled.

Jayden Alvarez went 2-for-3 for South Plainfield (1-2, 1-2) and Dom Massaro tripled with an RBI. Nick Irizarry (single) and Zack Robinson also each had an RBI.

Ridge 7, Rutgers Prep 3

Luke Somelofske allowed one run in three inning to pick up the win and Brendan Callanan struck out 10 in four innings as Ridge scored four times in the bottom of the sixth to pull out the win.

Somelofske also got a hit and drove in a run for the Red Devils (2-1) and Matt Shawah, Julian Kielb (hit, 3 runs) and Connor Byrne (hit) each had an RBI in the win.

For Rutgers Prep (0-3), Zach Fronio was 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI and Andrew Parisi went 2-for-4. Joey Dwek took the loss, going 4 2/3 allowing no earned runs with 6 strikeouts.

Bound Brook 4, Warren Hills 1

Lucas Coleman went 4-for-4 with four stolen bases and scored twice to provide a spark for Bound Brook. The host Crusaders (3-0) scored a run in the first, third, fourth and fifth innings. Jon Coiro (RBI) and Jonathan Bennett each went 2-for-3, while Nick Anderson (run), Jake Anderson (RBI) and Ronny Pimentel (RBI) added hits. Pimentel allowed one run in five innings with eight strikeouts for the win. Damian Ogonowski finished with two scoreless innings.

Manville 11, Keyport 1

Logan Klementovicz shined with a five-inning complete game and allowed one run on four hits

Bernards 2, Mendham 1

Junior righty Evan Hoeckele prevailed in a pitcher's duel by allowing one run off of five hits and a walk with nine strikeouts in the nonconference win. Bernards (1-1) pushed across runs in the top of the first and the fifth. Tyler Helpinstill had two hits and drove in both runs and Matt Giunta scored twice and had two hits and a stolen base.

Hunterdon Central 6, Somerville 0

Jared Cassella picked up the win by throwing 4 1/3 shutout innings, allowing just two hits with three strikeouts and a balanced offense led Hunterdon Central. The Red Devils (3-0) got hits from Andrew Nguyen (2B, RBI), Jimmie Lundari (2B, RBI, run), Jared Cassella (RBI, run), Mike Contiliano (3 runs) and Logan Escamilla (RBI). Additionally, Soren Gregor and Kyle Yasunas (run) each had an RBI.

On the mound, Ravi Varma pitched 1 2/3 innings and Jared Jacobus struck out two in an inning.

For Somerville (1-2), Chase Koplitz and Chase Wengryn each had a hit.

Cranford 11, Watchung Hills 7

Shea Grady has three hits and three RBI to lead Cranford (4-0) over Watchung Hills (0-3). The Warriors led 3-1, but Cranford scored six runs in the top of the sixth to seize the lead in the nonconference game.

Roxbury 10, Bridgewater-Raritan 3

Devin Goldberg doubled twice and went 3-for-4 with two runs scored for Bridgewater-Raritan (3-1) in the nonconference loss. Visiting Roxbury scored five times in the sixth inning to seal the win. JR Rosado and Kevin Lee (hit) each had an RBI for the Panthers. Matthew Fattore (run) and Ethan Leon also had a hit apiece.

Phillipsburg 16, Voorhees 3

Bryen Flaherty and Ian Carlson each went 2-for-3 for Voorhees. The Vikings (1-1) got hits and RBI from Luke Ansbach and Brandon Aulert.

Steinert 3, Hillsborough 2

Hillsborough dropped an extra inning nonconference game when Steinert scored in the bottom of the eighth. The Raiders (0-4) scored twice in the fifth to tie the game 2-2. Graham Ross turned in a good start for Hillsborough by allowing two runs (1 ER) in seven innings. He also homered and drove in both runs for his team. Alexander Orr went 2-for-3 in the loss.

West Windsor-Plainsboro North 6, South Hunterdon 3

South Hunterdon rallied with two runs in the top of the seventh but fell short in the nonconference game. Danny Rose singled and drove in a run for South Hunterdon (1-1) and Colton Hettman and Aaron Parisi each added hits.

The host Raiders (3-1) scored in the first inning and three in the bottom of the sixth to break a 1-1 tie.

Evan Doyle doubled and drove in a run and Quinones (run) and Sean Ferrone (run) also had hits.

Westfield 12, Chatham 1

Junior right-hander Kevin Dowling allowed one earned run in six innings off of three hits and two walks with seven strikeouts as Westfield got a big nonconference win.

The Blue Devils (2-2) scored three times in the top of the third and four more in the fifth to break the game open.

Chris Shinners (3-for-3, 2 RBI, 2 runs) led the 14-hit attack and having two hits apiece were Tomas Cestero (2 runs), Randy Davis (2 RBI), Kellen Edwards (RBI, 3 runs), Kevin Halleran (2 RBI, run) and Jake Alfano (RBI).

Greater Middlesex Conference

South Plainfield 11, North Brunswick 2

South Plainfield scored eight times in the top of the sixth to stun North Brunswick in a Red Division game. Center fielder Dom Massaro drove in four runs on a 3-for-5 with a home run and double. Leadoff hitter Nick Irizarry had three RBI and went 2-for-4 with a walk to help in the 11-hit attack.

The Red Division has much parity in opening week and it seems to be wide open this spring. North Brunswick, No. 1 in the Home News Tribune Top 10, won the opener against No. 9 South Plainfield 2-0.

The Tigers, which have several varsity newcomers, showed they’re going to be a player. Junior lefty Aldo Pigna allowed two runs in 4 1/3 off five hits and two walks with four strikeouts. Zack Robinson finished with 2 2/3 innings of shutout ball (2 H, 1 BB, 2 K). He also went 2-for-4.

South Plainfield showed its going to have a balanced line up as No. 7 hitter Frank Flannery (2 BB, 2 runs), No. 8 Joe Moroney (hit, 2 BB, 2 runs) and No. 9 Dan Kapsch (double, 2 RBI, BB) contributed. Ashton Donovan and Jayden Alvarez each had a hit.

North Brunswick had multi-hit games from EJ Accettura (2B), Zachary Konstantinovsky (RBI) and Josh Rodriguez.

St. Joseph 3, Monroe 2

Joseph Barca didn’t allow an earned run in four innings and Robbie Carvelli drove in two runs as St. Joseph earned the Red Division win.

St. Joseph dropped two close games to begin the season – a 6-5 loss to Monroe on Tuesday and 10-8 to Old Bridge on Wednesday.

Thursday, the Falcons got the split against Monroe by pulling out another tight one. Barca allowed an unearned run and gave up two hits and three walk. Jimmy Mulvaney earned the win in relief with two shutout innings and allowed just a hit.

Josiah Brown drove in a run and Christian Azcona (2B, run) and Mark Gialluisi (3 runs, BB) each had two hits for St. Joseph.

For Monroe, Larry Casey singled and had an RBI, Kyle McCauley went 2-for-3 (2B, run) and Harrison Lollin (hit, run) and Aidan Lane (hit) contributed.

Edison 23, Perth Amboy 0

Jaxon Appelman pitched a five-inning two-hitter, walking four and striking out seven. Edison’s hot bats backed him in a 15-hit attack.

The Eagles swept the White Division series after winning 14-0 on Tuesday over the Panthers.

Appelman slashed a triple and had RBI to help his cause. Jackson Ferrer also tripled with three RBI, while Pail DiCarlo and Jordan Martins each had two hits and an RBI.

Also having hits in the win were Teddy Eyler, Brody Ferrer, Ryan Berner, Mason Murphy, Charlie Taub and Paul di Pasquale.

Spotswood 13, Metuchen 0

Spotswood has an ace in Casey Cumiskey, but the Chargers are looking for other starters to step up, especially with the graduation of Jeff Osborne (2.80 ERA) and relief star Ryan Poulson.

Jackson Walsh has entered the conversation. The senior threw four innings of three-hit ball as Spotswood earned the Blue Division sweep over Metuchen. He struck out eight with two walks and went 2-for-3 at bat.

Casey Cuminsky and Carter Cuminsky led the way for Spotswood at the plate. Casey was 3-for-4 with a double, triple and 2 RBI, while Carter was 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBI.

Sebby Saracino also had a multi-hit game (1 RBI, 1 run) and Dylan Kartelias drove in two runs.

Dan Louro pitched a perfect inning to finish the game.

Daniel Cordes, Ike Busch and Henry Busch had hits for Metuchen.

Piscataway 13, North Plainfield 5

Junior pitcher Gavin Bendix came into the game in the second inning with Piscataway down 3-0. He stopped the bleeding with five excellent relief innings and the Chiefs’ bats came alive to eanr the Blue Division sweep over North Plainfield.

Piscataway (2-1) scored once in the top of the second and six times in the third inning to take a 7-4 lead.

Bendix earned his career varsity win by surrendering one earned run, scattering four hits and a walk with five strikeouts. Bendix also helped himself out at the plate with an RBI-double to deep center field to register his first career varsity hit. Starting pitcher Troy Hutchinson redeemed his three-run first inning by keeping his head in the game and doing his job at the plate going 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a walk.

Also leading the way for the Chiefs with three hits was sophomore outfielder Riley Wingate, who went into the game as a substitute in the third inning and went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a run scored.

Bobby Bressler scored five runs with two RBI off of a hit and three walks and Michael Wojcik wen 2-for-3 with a run.

For North Plainfield, Davyn Ciriaco went 2-for-3 and scored twice.

Woodbridge 14, Colonia 4

Sophomore Ryan Leach allowed one run in seven innings with seven strikeouts, scattering two hits and eight walks to pitch Woodbridge to the sweep over Colonia.

The Barrons graduated key starting pitchers in Matt Troche and Josh Vazquez. They still have ace Eddy Nunez and a couple other pitchers, but finding throwers is key this season. Leach made an impressive debut in the White Division game.

Dean Fiore and Drew Lukachyk each threw a scoreless inning.

Tyler Weber slugged a two-run homer in the first inning as Woodbridge jumped to a 4-0 lead. Ty Kobylakiewicz went 2-for-2 with a double and three RBI, Jostiel Valdez doubled twice and had four RBI and Shawn Kish was 2-for-3 with a walk, double, RBI and three runs scored.

Jeff Trinca had two RBI for Colonia.

Middlesex 8, Sayreville 3

Tomas Lavornia homered and had three RBI and Michael Canavesio had a strong pitching performance to lead Middlesex to a split in the White Division series.

The Blue Jays scored five times in the top of the fifth to break open the game. Canavesio allowed three runs (2 ER) in six innings with eight strikeouts. Daniel Kannaley threw a scoreless inning.

Jack Adamski (2 runs) and Alfonso Esposito (run) each doubled and Owen Reynolds, Dom Parenti and Adam Groel had RBI and Justin Gordon scored twice.

Michael Novak went 2-for-4 with a double and run scored to lead Sayreville.

Highland Park 22, Wardlaw-Hartridge 6

Adam O’Connell and Seth Shapiro had huge days at the plate to lead Highland Park to the RSilver Division win.

Shapiro went 2-for-3 with four RBI and scored three times and O’Connell was 3-for-5 with four RBI and scored twice. Also having multi-hit games were Owen Roth-Zappo (2 RBI), Seamus MacKinnon (2 RBI), Vincent Wolfe (3 RBI), Daniel Sanchez (RBI) and Luca Sheldon (2 RBI). Sheldon earned the win on the mound by five runs (3 ER) in four innings with seven strikeouts.

Wardlaw-Hartridge was led by Luke Tan (2-for-4, 3 RBI) and Ryan Maciorowski (hit, 2 RBI).

Carteret 10, South Amboy 2

Nick Kee allowed two runs (1 ER) in 6 2/3 innings with nine strikeouts as Carteret earned the Gold Division win. Justin Santana got the final out via a strikeout.

Santana also had a memorable day by going 3-for-5 with three runs scored. James Rodriguez (2 RBI, 2B) and Jhoalvin Ledesma each had two hits.

Diego Colon went 3-for-3 with a double and RBI to lead South Amboy.

Skyland Conference

Hunterdon Central 1, Ridge 0

The game between two of the best teams in the area lived up to the billing.

Jared Cassella doubled home Mike Contiliano in the top of the eighth inning as Hunterdon Central won a key Delaware Division game.

Four pitchers combined on the shutout for the Red Devils. Noah Baird threw 4 1/3 innings with eight strikeouts and allowed a hit and three walks. Ryan Lundari went 2 2/3 innings, Ravi Varma threw 2/3 of an inning and Alex Chayko threw 1/3 of an inning.

Pingry 8, Bernards 3

Kailar Ahn singled and drove in two runs and James Bergman went 2-for-4 as Pingry came from behind to win.

Down 3-0, the Big Blue scored four times in the top of the fifth and four more in the sixth to seize the win. Jason Weaver, Jake Francis and Nick Lorenzo each had an RBI in the win.

Lorenzo allowed two runs in 3 1/3 with seven strikeouts.

For Bernards, Henry Depew hit a solo home run and Charlie Gonella doubled and had an RBI.

Bridgewater-Raritan 16, Hillsborough 0

Cory Rible didn’t allow a hit or walk as Bridgewater-Raritan scored the big win in the five inning game. He struck out three for the Panthers (3-0).

Devin Goldberg went 3-for-5 with a double (2 RBI, 2 runs) to lead the hit parade. Tim Travisano, Matt Moore and Kellen Komline (double) each added a hit and an RBI. Arden Maxhuni, James Turchi (RBI), Jacob Rosado (RBI) and Gavin Onello had a hit apiece.

Manville 10, Princeton Day 0

James Mascola threw a complete game shutout allowing two hits and four walks with five strikeouts to lead Manville.

Geoffrey Mathis went 2-for-3 including a three-run home run in the fourth inning. The Mustangs (1-1) scored four runs in the second and fourth innings. Evan Canica had a hit and an RBI and scored twice and Josh D'Ambrosio had two RBI and scored twice.

North Hunterdon 4, Rutgers Prep 1

Ben Linzer threw four shutout innings allowing just two hits with seven strikeouts as the Lions scored twice in the bottom of the second and in the third innings.

No. 9 hitter Jesse Lance tripled and had three RBI to lead North Hunterdon Tyler Anderson drove in a run. Alex Turner and Chris Sand (2 runs) each had a multi-hit game.

For Rutgers Prep, Zach Fronio, Andrew Parisi and Cody Rullo each had a hit.

Montgomery 11, Somerville 3

Justin Swerdlow (double), Ananth Mantena and Cole Schulberg each drove in two runs as Montgomery jumped to a 5-0 lead in the first inning.

Tyler Conners, John Donahue and Lucas Heines each added an RBI in the win.

Jayden Arya earned the win with three shutout innings and allowed just one hit and two walks.

Tuesday, April 4

Monroe 6, St. Joseph 5 (8 inn)

Sure, smacking home runs are nice. Monroe, though, simply wants to make contact and put pressure on the defense. If the Falcons can do that with their top-line pitching and strong defense, they’re going to be dangerous.

Tuesday, Monroe produced text-book small ball in the eighth inning to earn a 6-5 win over host St. Joseph in both teams’ openers.

“We’re going to definitely pride ourselves this year on just putting the ball in play and small ball,” Monroe coach Sean Field said, “bunting, especially at the bottom of our order. We got some guys that can really drop a bunt down and then can run. So we’re definitely going to do that.”

Witness the top of the eighth. Monroe, No. 5 in the Home News Tribune Greater Middlesex Conference’s Top 10, scored with three bunts and a single to edge No. 2 St. Joseph in the extra inning.

The No. 8, No. 9 and No. 1 hitters all reached via a bunt in Jake Lobue, Kyle McCauley and Nick Sellari.

Zach Wallace pitched a scoreless eighth to clinch Monroe’s victory. Monroe rallied with three runs in the fifth. Harrison Lollin singled on a line drive and Trevor Wallace’s hit brought him home. Victor Ortiz followed with a RBI-double and Stephen Pascucci hit a sac fly to center to tie it 5-5.

Lollin, one of the best pitchers in the area, battled against the explosive St. Joseph offense. He allowed five runs in seven innings with five strikeouts and gave his team the chance to win.

“I knew that if we could just give hm a little bit of run support. I knew we were going to be all right. It was just a matter of scoring a couple runs. I could see like the jitters early with some of the guys, but after two or three innings they kind of found their groove. Found their feet and they were fine.”

It was a big win for Monroe because they play St. Joseph again Thursday and then No. 1 North Brunswick Saturday.

For St. Joes, star catcher Mark Gialluisi went 3-for-3 with an RBI, Robbie Carvelli went 2-for-4 with two RBI and Josiah Brown had two hits with an RBI.

Edison 14, Perth Amboy 0

Paul di Pasquale pitched a five-inning shutout to lead Edison to an opening day victory over Perth Amboy in both teams’ opener. The senior struck out five, walked one and allowed two hits in the GMC White Division win.

The Eagles opened the game with six runs in the top of the third to take a 9-0 lead.

Jackson Ferrer had 3 RBI, Robert Roma had 2 doubles, 3 runs and 3 RBI, while Anthony Calantoni had a double and 2 RBI. Also joining the hit parade was Charlie Taub (double, RBI) and Brody Ferrer (2 RBI).

North Hunterdon 11, Franklin 1

Eddie Appollina and Tyler Anderson had two RBI apiece to lead North Hunterdon to the road win. The senior Appolina also had a stellar outing on the mound by allowing one run in five innings off of five hits with six strikeouts. Ben Linzer finished with two shutout innings and three strikeouts. Eric Pydeski drove in the run for Franklin (1-1).

North Brunswick 2, South Plainfield 0

Zachary Konstantinovsky pitched like an ace as North Brunswick took the opener over South Plainfield. The senior threw 6 1/3 shutout innings and allowed three hits and a walk with four strikeouts. Kyle Anderson got the last two outs. He also singled, walked twice and drove in a run. Frankie Garbolino and Josh Rodriguez each added a hit in the opener.

South Plainfield got a well-pitched game by Ashton Donovan in the loss. He allowed two runs in 6 1/3 innings.

Old Bridge 10, J.P. Stevens 0

Justin Hascup threw a gem to lead Old Bridge in its season-opening win. The sophomore right-hander threw five shutout innings, allowing just a hit and a walk with five strikeouts. He was backed by hot bats. Joshua Martinez went 3-for-3 and scored three twice and JT Meyer went 2-for-2 with three runs scored and an RBI. Having a hit apiece with two RBI were Evan Smith, Kyle McSorley and Shaun Bogda and Mike Villani had a hit and scored twice.

Bridgewater-Raritan 4, Watchung Hills 0

Great pitching is always a plus. Matthew Fattore threw five shutout innings with four strikeouts, scattering three hits and two walks to lead the Panthers. Noah Matheson finished with two innings and three strikeouts. Fattore and Devin Goldberg each had multi-hits and Michael Fattore, Kevin Lee, Jacob Rosado and Matt Moore each added a hit.

Sayreville 11, Middlesex 5

Down 3-0, Sayreville erupted for five runs in the third inning and four more in the fourth to open the lead and get a key early win in the GMC White Division. Jake Romanello had a big all-around day. He doubled and went 2-for-3 with three RBI and threw 5 1/3 innings, allowing four runs (3 ER) with seven strikeouts for the win. AJ Zapoticzny finished and allowed a run in 1 2/3 innings and scored twice at the plate.

Aayush Mehta and Michael Colonnello each drove in two runs and had a hit and scored twice.

Dom Parenti went 3-for-4 for Middlesex and Tomas Lavornia was 2-for-3. Driving in runs for the Blue Jays were Justin Gordon, Jack Adamski, Chris Kozak and Adam Groel.

South River 9, St. Thomas Aquinas 2

In a game between the co-defending champs of the Blue Division, South River claimed the key win behind the one-hit pitching of Julius Rosado. The sophomore sensation gave up an infield hit off the bat of Zachary Diaz in the fourth inning and allowed two earned runs on three walks striking out six.

Andrew Steffaro went 3-for-3 with a 2-RBI single in the third to give the Rams a 3-0 lead. South River added four runs in the fifth on RBI-singles by Sebastian Susinno and Gavin Franco. Parker Lane contributed two hits and Rosado finished 2-for-5 with a double and two runs scored. South River played error-free ball in the win.

Woodbridge 7, Colonia 2

The Barrons picked up from where they left off last season after setting a program record for wins with a key victory over township rival Colonia. It wasn't easy. Down 1-0, Woodbridge scored three runs in the fourth and fifth innings to seize the lead. Junior ace Eddy Nunez earned the win by allowing two runs (0 ER) and giving up just three hits and a walk in six innings. Drew Lukachyk threw a perfect final inning. Derek Oxner (RBI) and Ty Kobylakiewicz each tripled and Shawn Kish and Xavier Diaz (2 RBI) added two hits apiece. Drew Lukachyk singled and had an RBI and Tyler Weber and Tim Deignan each laced a hit.

For Colonia, Eduardo Tapia, Matt Fasulo and Dylan Conklin had hits.

East Brunswick 4, South Brunswick 0

Call Dustin McGuinness the Stopper. A day after South Brunswick rallied for a late 6-5 win, McGuinness got the momentum back to the Bears with a sterling performance. The junior righty tossed seven shutout innings with 10 strikeouts and allowed just two hits and two walks. He also singled and drove in a pair of runs as EB scored three times in the bottom of the fourth and once in the fifth. Michael Marchese and Dustin McGuinness each had a hit and an RBI, while Jack Gerould tripled twice. Jack Ryan singled and scored.

South Brunswick ace Joey Tuttoilmondo had 11 strikeouts in the loss.

Piscataway 8, North Plainfield 1

Jaden Peace threw five shutout innings with nine strikeouts and scattered three hits and five walks to lead Piscataway. He also doubled and tripled at the plate (RBI, R), while Jason Hoffman (RBI, 2 R) and Bobby Bressler (3 R) had two hits apiece. Mahir Shah and Riley Wingate added hits and Troy Hutchinson drove in a run. Gavin Bendix pitched the final two innings in the win.

Davyn Ciriaco had a hit and RBI for North Plainfield.

Spotswood 2, Metuchen 1

Junior Breckyn DeAngelis scored on a two-out balk in the bottom of the fifth to send the Chargers to the season-opening victory at the Swamp.

The balk came after Metuchen starter Marcus Malamug nearly escaped a major jam, spinning a 1-6-3 double play on Spotswood first baseman Carter Cumiskey's rocket comebacker. But the go ahead run would cross the plate before the next pitch was delivered on the balk call.

Sophomore right hander William Buchan was excellent in his first opening day start. He gave up just a double by Lucas Weiss to lead off the fifth. He worked 6 1/3 innings with eight K’s and allowed three walks. Weiss scored on an unearned run caused by errand throw.

Buchan opened the scoring in the home third with a double down the left field line to score Shawn Lennan. Senior Casey Cumiskey slammed the door shut, leaving the bases stranded in the top of the seventh for the save. Cumiskey sandwiched two strikeouts with a base hit and a walk in between to close it down.

Pingry 7, Warren Hills 0

Jake Francis started the season with an ace-like outing by tossing six shutout innings with eight strikeouts and allowing just a hit and a walk. Gavin Wang finished with a scoreless inning. The Big Blue broke a 0-0 tie with three runs in the bottom of the third and added one in the fourth, one in the fifth and two in the sixth. James Bergman doubled and scored twice in the win and driving in runs were Jason Weaver, Alex Payne, Nick Lorenzo and Francis.

Montgomery 7, Rutgers Prep 4

Montgomery scored a big opening day win over Rutgers Prep, ranked No. 3 in the MyCentralJersey Top 10 for are Skyland Conference and Union County teams. The unranked Cougars scored four times in the top of the seventh to pull out the win.

For Rutgers Prep, Zach Fronio was 1-for-2 with a two-run homer and Nick Pizzie was 2-for-4 with 2 RBI. Max Treonze went four innings allowing three runs and striking out 11.

Voorhees 8, Gill St. Bernard's 6

Brandon Aulert doubled with two RBI and Luke Ansbach and Jeremy Jordan each singled twice with an RBI as Voorhees earned the win. The Vikings also got hits from Jackson Trego (RBI), Jeff Manning (RBI) and Ray Schiavo (run). Jack Steinel earned the win with eight strikeouts and allowed two runs in four innings.

Matthew Park and Colin Chou each homered for Gill St. Bernard’s and John DiGregorio had two hits.

Hunterdon Central 12, Hillsborough 6

Nick Augusta (3 runs, double) and Mike Contiliano (2 hits) each drove in three runs to power Hunterdon Central to the victory. Logan Escamilla added two hits with a double and RBI. Jared Cassella singled and walked twice (RBI, 2 runs), while Kyle Yasunas singled and scored twice. Alex Chayko earned the win with 2 1/3 scoreless innings in relief. The Red Devils took a 9-0 lead with four in the bottom of the third and five in the bottom of the fourth.

Hillsborough rallied with six runs in the fifth but couldn’t get closer. Graham Ross singled twice with two RBI for the Raiders.

Somerville 6, Phillipsburg 5

The Pioneers pushed across the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning. Brayden Keller had a big day by pitching three scoreless relief inning to earn the victory after giving up one hit with three K’s. At the plate, he went 1-for-2 with three walks and two runs scored and a stolen base. Chase Wengryn and Ed Duffy each had two hits and an RBI.

Delaware Valley 12, Belvidere 0

Manny Modugno threw a four-hitter with eight strikeouts in five shutout innings to lead Delaware Valley. The Terriers got multi-hit days from Cooper Fransen (RBI, 3 runs) and Anthony Saniscalchi (RBI, 2 runs). Jack Reardon doubled and drove in two runs in the win.

Carteret 14, New Brunswick 0

Having a great opening day bodes well for gaining momentum early in the season. Jhoalvin Ledesma had a stat-filling day and combined with Justin Santana on a no-hitter as Carteret took the Gold Division game.

Ledesma, who hit .397 last season, went 3-for-5 with three RBI and a double and threw two shutout innings only allowing a walk with six strikeouts. Santana, who had 68 strikeouts in 42 1/3 innings last season as a sophomore, tossed three shutout innings in the win. He also went 2-for-4 after hitting .412 last year.

Eric Thompson joined the hit parade by going 2-for-2 with two walks and he scored twice (1 RBI). Paul Verbout and Justin Ortiz (hit) also drove in a run apiece. Other Ramblers having hits were Anthony Crespo and Nick Kee.

Middlesex 13, Princeton Day 0

The Blue Jays opened the season with five first runs in the top of the first inning for a big opening day nonconference win before its White Division slate gets underway.

Owen Reynolds and Jack Adams each laced three hits, while Tomas Lavornia and Alfonso Esposito drove in two runs apiece.

On the mound, Daniel Kannaley (3 IP, 2 H, 1 BB, 2 K) and Adam Groel (2 IP, 0 H, 1 BB) combined on the shutout.

St. Thomas Aquinas 17, Roselle Park 7

Junior Zach Diaz had a stellar opening day start by striking out eight in 3 2/3 innings and scattering four hits as the Trojans picked up the nonconference win before a big Blue Division game against South River later in the wek.

Diaz helped his cause at the plate going 2-for-2 with an RBI. Senior Artis Ray paced the offensive going 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and five RBI. Senior Christian Scaff was 3-for-3 with two RBI. Sophomore Reed Kerstetter and Junior Gavin Sansone picked up 2 hits apiece.

J.P. Stevens 4, J.F. Kennedy 3

Jackson Fong and Ankith Kunduru each had two hits and drove in a run as the Hawks took the opener and got the first win for head coach Tyler Jackow.

Justin Bonito allowed one earned run in five innings with eight strikeouts in the win and Casden Mui threw two shutout innings.

Mihir Patel singled, walked and had an RBI, while Matthew Jason and Tanush Ashok also had hits.

For J.F. Kennedy, RJ Coleman singled twice and drove in three runs. Jeremy Ricourt also laced two hits and scored twice.

Sayreville 7, Piscataway 3

Sayreville scored five times in the top of the ninth inning to win a memorable opener. The Bombers had three players with multi-hits – Aayush Mehta was 2-for-5 (2 RBI, 2 runs), Jake Romanello went 2-for-4 (2 runs, BB) and Thomas Schlaline was 2-for-3 (2 BB).

Michael Colonnello has a nice on-base percentage to start the season after going 1-for-2 with three walks, while Michael Novak singled and drove in two runs. Michael Robinson also had an RBI (2B, 3 BB) and AJ Zapoticzny singled.

On the mound, Mehta allowed one run in five innings with five strikeouts and Schlaline allowed two runs (1 ER) in four innings with five Ks. For Piscataway, Michael Wojcik singled and had an RBI, while Jaden Peace, Jason Hoffman and Riley Wingate had two hits apiece. Terrance Bell Jr. (2 runs) and Bobby Bressler each doubled.

New Providence 8, Union Catholic 0

New Providence started the season strong fresh off its run to the Group 1 title game. The Pioneers scored four times in the top of the third to break open the non-conference game. Ryan Grill threw 5 1/3 shutout innings and allowed just four hits with two strikeouts. He also went 1-for-2 with two walks.

Ethan Cifarelli finished with 1 2/3 innings of hitless ball with a strikeout. Jake Monaco (2 RBI, 2B), Brandon Cuccaro (RBI) and Robby Roth (2B, RBI) had two hits apiece.

Adding hits in the win were Cifarelli, Luca Vitale, Nick Santacross and Andrew Kowantz.

East Brunswick Magnet 16, Timothy Christian 4

Tommy O’Neil went 3-for-4 and scored twice and Ryan Dellafave singled and scored three times to lead East Brunswick Magnet after it jumped to an 8-1 lead after the first inning.

Joshua Francis doubled and had two hits to lead Timothy Christian, while Joshua Thiero doubled and drove in a run and Dylan Spivey singled and scored twice

Franklin 4, Gill St. Bernard's 3

Franklin rallied with four runs in the bottom of the seventh for the walk-off win on opening day. Isaiah Robbinson went 2-for-4 with two RBI and Veer Singh threw two shutout innings for the relief win.

Warren Bell had an effective start by allowing three runs in five innings with nine strikeouts for the Warriors.

Jacob Gordon added two hits (2B) and scored, while Jacob Cruz, Lawrence Ho and Myles Castillo had a hit apiece.

For Gill, John DiGregorio and Zack Wendell had multi-hits and Jack Markovich drove in runs and Colin Chou doubled with an RBI.
