Girls Tip-Off: Vals' 29-game win streak ends Friday

Dec. 10—FRENCHTOWN — It took overtime and 20 points from Madison Kaufman, but Frenchtown knocked off Bigfork 40-37 Friday, ending the Valkyries' 29-game win streak.

The game was the nightcap of the Frenchtown Tip-Off tournament, where all the Northwest A teams battled teams from elsewhere in Class A.

Whitefish and Browning picked up wins at the tournament, which continued Saturday.

Frenchtown 40, Bigfork 37

Just three players scored for the Broncs, who hit 16 of 20 free throws and got Bigfork standout Braeden Gunlock in foul trouble early; she fouled out with six points.

Mason Quinn's 16 points included 12 free throws for Frenchtown.

Paeten Gunlock scored nine to lead the Vals, who lost their first game back up in Class A. The defending State B champions went 5 of 14 at the line.

Keni Wade hit two 3-pointers on the way to eight points for Bigfork, and Callie Gembala fouled out with seven points.
