Lansdale Catholic coach records 100th win
Crusaders head coach Eric Gidney earned his 100th win at Lansdale Catholic with Thursday’s victory over Conwell-Egan. Gidney is in his sixth year with the Crusaders, who won their first-ever PIAA state championship and Catholic League championship last season, with a 101-35 record.
Top Peformances in Girls Basketball from January 8-15:
Madison Siegfried, Hatboro-Horsham
The freshman led the Hatters with 11 points in a win against Bristol.
Addyson Davis, Quakertown
On a night when the Panthers were missing the rest of their starting lineup, Davis posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds in a loss to William Tennent.
Avery Kocur, William Tennent
Kocur led the Panthers with 17 points in a win over Quakertown, and followed with another 17-point game in a victory over Hatboro-Horsham.
Ella Mednick, William Tennent
The Panthers’ defensive anchor had one of her best offensive outings of the season, scoring 10 points in a win over Quakertown, while leading the way defensively.
Mikel Lancit, Upper Moreland
Lancit erupted for 25 points against 12-1 Upper Dublin, sinking four 3-pointers along the way, though the Golden Bears fell short.
Grace McDonough, Lansdale Catholic
McDonough was unstoppable in the Crusaders’ win over Conwell-Egan, scoring 22 points, grabbing 18 rebounds and blocking five shots.
Alexis Castro, CB West
With her team down a point and time running out, Castro sank two free throws with five seconds remaining to give the Bucks a thrilling 47-46 win over Upper Moreland.
Izzy Elizondo, New Hope-Solebury
The junior poured in 20 points, including four 3-pointers, to lead the Lions to a victory over Wissahickon.
Delaney McCaffrey, Council Rock North
It was another standout performance for the CR North senior, who went 8-for-8 from the free throw line and hit three shots from beyond the arc, finishing with 21 points in a win over Pennridge.

Amber Howard, Bensalem
It’s been quite the week for the senior, who was nominated for the McDonald’s All-American Game. On Thursday, she scored a team-high 23 points to lead the Owls to a 47-40 win over CB South, and followed with 14 points in a victory over Wissahickon. Howard has scored double-digit points in every game this season, and has 20 or more points in four of the last five.
Devon Bell, Bensalem
Bell sank five 3-pointers, on her way to a game-high 17 points, to lead the Owls over Wissahickon.
Sydney Ralph, CB East
The junior hit four free throws in the final 25 seconds to secure a huge 43-39 win for CB East over Pennsbury. Ralph first went to the line with 23 seconds remaining, and then again with seven seconds to go, and her clutch free throws were the difference for the Patriots. She finished with eight points, all coming in the second half.
Skyler Wright, CR North
Wright had a team-high 15 points, all on 3-pointers, to lead CR North to a win over Avon Grove.
Jordyn Reynolds, Abington
The senior dropped 18 points, along with five rebounds and three steals, to lead the Ghosts to a dominant win over George School. Reynolds scored 12 of her points in the first half, helping the Ghosts to a 30-21 halftime lead.
Ella Brown, Pennridge
The junior led the way with 24 points in a win over Methacton.
Layla Verbit, Pennridge
Verbit got the Rams off to a hot start, scoring seven of her 16 points in the first quarter, as Pennridge took a 29-7 lead en route to the win over Methacton.
Shylah McCleve, Harry S. Truman
McCleve had a game-high 19 points in a loss to CB West, for her fourth straight game scoring in double digits.
Alena Cofield, Neshaminy
The junior usually leads the team’s defense, but in a win over Souderton she led the offense with 17 points, in addition to her nine rebounds, four steals and four assists.
Olivia Stone, North Penn
In the final seconds of a one-point game, Stone had a huge block on the defensive end, and then sank a free throw to secure a 44-42 win over CR South. She finished with 10 points as the Knights won their fifth straight.
Lily Brown, North Penn
The freshman came off the bench and delivered 12 points and eight rebounds in a Hope for Hoops win against 11-2 Haverford.
Jessica Kolecki, Germantown Academy
The sophomore tallied 16 points, seven rebounds, and three assists while leading the Patriots’ defensive efforts in a win over Archbishop Carroll at the Hope for Hoops showcase.
Sarah Oleary, Abington
The Ghosts top defender showed off her offensive skills in a win over Lower Moreland, scoring a game-high 15 points. Oleary, who also led the team with seven rebounds, scored eight of her points in the first quarter.
Brooke Fenchel, Souderton
The Big Red’s lone senior scored 15 points in a close loss to Villa Maria for her fourth game in a row scoring in double digits for the young Souderton squad.
Emilia Coleman, Gwynedd Mercy
She had 13 points in a win against AACA opponent Mt. Saint Joseph’s, and eight points against Penn Charter at the Hopes for Hoops tournament, earning game MVP honors.
