Girls basketball roundup: Oak Park tops Camarillo for 2nd straight Coastal Canyon title

Lindsay Gould hit seven 3-pointers for 21 points, Delaney White scored 14 points, Helena Koubek had 12 points, and Maya Deshautelle added eight points as the Oak Park High girls basketball team defeated host Camarillo 61-57 on Thursday night to capture its second straight undefeated Coastal Canyon League championship.

The Eagles (16-7) went 8-0 overall in league for the second straight season after finishing 0-8 in league and 1-20 overall in the 2021-22 season. Oak Park snapped Camarillo's run of 11 consecutive league titles last season and eventually won the Division 5A title for its first CIF-Southern Section title in 22 seasons.

Oak Park was ranked first in the latest CIF-SS Division 3AA poll and will likely be the top seed in the division when playoff pairings are announced Sunday.

Emerson Martin had 15 points, five rebounds and four steals, Christa Contreras finished with 14 points, four assists and three rebounds, Daniela Rocha had 14 points, four rebounds and three assists, and Elizabeth Rocha had 11 points and four rebounds for the playoff-bound Scorpions (20-7, 6-2).

Perfect 10 for Westlake

Mathis Dritz scored 22 points, Emma Ange had 21 points, and Taylor Swanson scored nine points and set the program's single-season record for blocks with her 62nd as Westlake (18-6, 10-0) beat Oaks Christian 60-43 to finish as unbeaten Marmonte League champions.

Freshman Presley Kushner scored 20 points and Andrea Woodward had 12 points for the Lions, who finished their season 8-18 overall and 3-7 in league.

Skylar Komatsu had 11 points, seven rebounds and three assists, Kimiko Carmer had 11 points, six rebounds and three steals, Greta Heath had 11 points and seven rebounds, and Dana Cruz had 11 points and four rebounds as Newbury Park clinched third place in the Marmonte League with a 46-40 win over Thousand Oaks.

The Panthers (22-6) and Lancers (12-15) both finished 5-5 in league but Newbury Park won the tiebreaker based on a points system that factors league victories to claim third place and the league's final automatic playoff berth.

Jillian McGillivray led the Lancers with 11 points.

Maddy Tauro finished with 32 points, seven rebounds, six steals and three assists, Erin Topacio had 17 points, six assists and three rebounds, Jocelynn Townsend had 10 points and three rebounds, Lia Hendleman had seven points, five assists and four steals, and Ava Yazdandoost and Emily Abramovitch each added five points to lead Calabasas to a 79-22 win over Agoura in a Marmonte League final.

The Coyotes (12-13, 7-3) captured second place in the Marmonte for the first time in more than 20 years to qualify for the postseason.

Nonleague loss for Seraphs

Sarah Cosio finished with 14 points, six rebounds, three steals and two assists and Mariah Bernal had eight points and five rebounds as Tri-Valley League co-champion St. Bonaventure (15-8) lost to Trinity Classical Academy (24-3), 52-32, in a nonleague game to end the regular season.
